‹ Prequel: Everything I'm Not

Love's Requiem

A quick little flight

“Gee Niko thanks for telling me you got here.” I teased as I gave him a hug.

“I figured I’d run in to you eventually.” He told me. “Hey Alex.” He said hugging Alex.

“Hey, how’s everything?” Alex asked as we took a seat next to him, Well Alex sat next to him and I sat in his lap cause there were no other available seats.

“Not bad, so Bella you ready to go back to the motherland in how long?” Niko asked me.

“Almost 5 years.” I nodded.

“Why that long?” Alex asked.

“It never feels right anymore. I don’t know I think it’s just cause I couldn’t stand my grandma putting me on dates with all these guys in hopes of marrying me off.” I told him shaking my head.

“Well now you have me so no fear.” Alex said hugging me tightly around my stomach.

“You guys make me want to puke with all of your cuteness.” Niko said shaking his head.

“Uh thank you?” I asked confused.

A while after they finally started boarding our fight. The three of us all sat together in the same row, me in the middle. Alex and I had started to watch the in flight movie but I got bored and started reading. I was close to finishing that Twilight book I bought and had packed the sequel to it for the flight home.

“So how is it?” Alex asked softly.

“I really like, I mean it’s such a great love story above all. Even if it is sappy at times. It’s like Disney movies for teens
and adults.” I told him making him laugh.

“Oh yeah how so?”

“Well like this Vampire guy, is pretty much living solely for this girl Bella. And he’s always telling her that she’s his life
and stuff.”

“Women.” He mocked.

“What?”

“If I told you that you’d laugh and ignore it, but if you read about some non-fictional character that will be depicted as
some baby faced, attractive actor you eat it up like no tomorrow.”

“Actors aren’t really my type” I smirked. “I’m in to the baby faced, musician with the big eyebrows and the crooked
smile.” I told him kissing his forehead.

“Works for me.” He smiled.

Soon after that little conversation I fell asleep cuddled up against Alex. And I stayed like that until it was time for the
plane to in Germany. Which the flight from German to Croatia went the fastest, I felt like the second I had closed my eyes to fall back asleep again I was already getting shook to wake up because we were landing.

“Hrvatska!” Niko and I exclaimed as we got off the plane.

“Uh” Alex thought for a moment. “Croatia?” He then said giving me a confused look.

I couldn’t help but laugh as he put his arm around me and waited for our bags.

“Niko we’re going to be right back.” I said grabbing Alex and going off somewhere more private.

“What’s up?” Alex asked confused.

“I just want to say sorry in advance.” I told him.

“For what?”

“The next two weeks, I’m going to be speaking non-stop Croatian but don’t worry cause me or Niko or my mom and dad
are going to translate for you all the time. I just hate this cause you’re going to feel left out or something.” I rambled.

“I knew all this already.” He laughed. “You worry and talk too much.” He told me with a laugh as he kissed my forehead and lead me back to where Niko was still getting our bags.

Afterwards we got a cab to take us to my grandma’s house. Alex stared out the window in awe at the city, while Niko and I talked to the driver about the one thing any Croatian can bond over, soccer.

“What are you talking about?” Alex whispered to me.

“The national team and the Euro cup a few years back.” I told him as he nodded. “For the record you’re like ten times hotter when you’re saying things I don’t understand.” He added making me laugh and hug him tightly.
