The Awakening
First came the screech then came my full name
“Lacey Ann Carter” my mother yelled instantly waking both Oil and I from our slumber making us sit up right in my bed this was not good.
“Who on earth is this and why is he in your bed” my mother yelled and we both got out of bed
“Mrs. Carter im Oliver Sykes” Oli said trying to introduce himself to my mother and farther who had come running extending his hand for my parents to shake
“I was not talking to you I was talking to my daughter and eewww don’t touch me” my mother yelled flicking away Oli’s hand
“Oh my god mum can you be any more rude and disrespectful if you tried” I yelled at her
“I am not being disrespectful, disrespectful is bringing this scum into my house” my mother shot back
“Mum he’s not scum he’s actually a really good friend” I said pleadingly
“Lacey you do not hang out with people like this” my mother said pointing to Oli
“What if I wanted to mum im sick of trying to be someone im not just to please you” I said almost snapping at her
“Don’t talk about me like that, plus you have good friends and not to mention Bret” my mother pointed out
“Bret has been cheating on me with Brittany for ages now” I ended with a smirk on my face
“Don’t look at me like this you will get this scum out of my house never to return and go make up with Bret this instance” my mother directed
“No mum! Im not putting up with your crap anymore I am not you!” I yelled and waited for her to explode.
Instead she took a step forward and slapped me across the face. My face tingled with pain and I noticed Oli step a little in front of me to protect me he was about to say something when my dad interrupted
“Lacey see him out” he said and I nodded grabbing Oli’s hand and headed for the front door
My face hurt and I rubbed it a little with my hand trying to ease some of the pain. I lead Oli out the front door and stood on my porch with him for a while not saying anything
“Are you okay?” he asked worry filling his eyes and I nodded
“Im sorry about that” I replied
“Lace don’t worry I just can’t believe she slapped you” he said holding onto my hand
“Yea I think the worst part is over now…well I hope so” I added
“Yea me too I’ll wait for you out the front of the school?” he questioned and I nodded,
He placed a kiss on my red check which seemed to numb the pain for a moment or two.
I headed straight up stairs and back into my room closing and locking the door behind me not saying a word to anyone. I did my hair and make up and got dressed I didn’t wear anything preppy or prissy just simple skinny jeans and a white singlet that had a small pattern in the corner grabbing an old black cardigan and ballet flats heading out the door with my bag. I knew I was going to be early but then I didn’t want to spend anymore time at home then I needed to.
