Shameless

Our drive home consisted basically of the girls filling Rian in on everything he missed.

Jasey's new band and boyfriend.

Holly's string of guys she dumped, and B+ in math.

And the many pranks Maria found to play on everyone around her.

Rian listened intently, laughing and sympathizing at all the right points.

The girls absolutely loved him.

We pulled up in front of the house, Alex, Jack, and Zack in the car right behind us.

I noticed a boy sitting on our front porch, tears streaming down his face. He looked about sixteen.

I turned to Holly.

"Holly, who is that?" I asked, pointing at him.

"Oh God, he seriously came to our house?" she asked, putting her palms to her eyes.

"Holly, answer my question, who is that?" I asked.

"His name's Jace. I broke up with him yesterday," she said, "And he KNOWS my dad's coming, why would he do this? He's so STUPID!"

Holly leaped over Jasey and climbed out of the car.

"JACE! GET AWAY FROM MY HOUSE!" she yelled toward him.

"HOLLY! Please babe, just listen to me! I LOVE YOU! Don't LEAVE ME!" he cried, tears streaming down his face.

Then Zack got out of the car, standing tall, flexing his muscles.

"Holly, who is this boy?" he asked.

"Daddy, please. This is Jace. He was just LEAVING." she hinted.

"How old is he?" Zack asked, raising his eyebrows, looking from his young daughter to the teenage boy sitting on the porch.

"SIXTEEN!" Jasey called from the car.

She sort of resented that Holly could get guys older than she could.

"NOT HELPING, JASEY!" Holly shrieked.

"SIXTEEN?!" Zack questioned, "Are you DATING this boy?"

"No, dad, absolutely not," Holly replied.

"SHE DUMPED HIM YESTERDAY," Jasey yelled toward Zack.

"I HATE YOU JASEY!" Holly cried.

"I guess this is a bad time, Jace said, wiping a tear. "I'll call you later." He began to walk away from the house, avoiding the driveway.

"Don't call me, Jace." Holly said.

"Call you later," he replied, "Bye."

She sighed, and he was gone.

She looked up at her dad, who sighed.

"He's too old for you, Holly," he said.

"Yeah, yeah, dad, chill out," she replied, running into the house.

The guys all went to visit their parents, Rian went to mom and dad's house.

Jasey went with Alex, Holly with Zack, and Maria with Jack.

I had the house all to myself for at least 2 hours.

I decided to get that good cry.

I grabbed a gallon of Ben & Jerry's 'half-baked' ice cream from the freezer, a spoon, and sat down in front of the television, switching it to MTV.

And, just my luck, one of All Time Low's videos came on.

YAY.

And I caught just my FAVORITE song right in the middle.

I was just so lucky, I got my own dang breakup song.

Note the sarcasm.

Alex seriously needs to get a life and move on.

Time to wake up, where's your daughter?
Hurts to break up, she was stronger.

I never freaking lost my daughter, buttface.

All my friends say please don't love her

And yet they all went for me. Curious.

What did I gain now? I miss her so.

Um, you didn't gain anything, bucko.

The tears began to roll down my face and I dug into my ice cream.

"Better suck up your pride and admit you lost her, let her go, move on..." someone whispered in my ear.

I screamed, dropping my spoon.

I looked up, it was Alex.

This is probably the closest he had been to me in ten years.

"I thought you were at your parent's house?" I questioned.

"I was," he replied, jumping over the couch, and landing with his butt on it. "Then I felt bad about earlier."

"About the whole straight up hustler comment?" I replied, putting the ice cream on the table and crossing my arms.

"Hey, songs are what I do best," he said, smiling.

I missed his smile.

SNAP OUT OF IT.

"Where's Jasey?" I asked.

"With my mom, she wouldn't let me keep her. Apparently she sees Jasey about as much as she sees me." he replied, smirking.

"Whatever, Gaskarth," I said, leaning back into the couch and closing my eyes.

Then I felt lips press against mine.

I began to cry again. "Please don't do this to me, Alex," I said, shoving him off.

"I love you, Lily. Always will." he replied, getting up and walking upstairs.

I was left with my thoughts and an impression on my lips.
