Sequel: Black Rose

Statues Without Eyes

Breakdown

I think I scared Jesse with my driving. At least he was silent for the most part. It just caused me to smirk as I turned in front of people quickly as he held onto the door and closed his eyes.

Finally when we got to the bank, I stepped out of the car as Jesse looked like he was about to kiss the ground.

"Next time, I'm driving," He mentioned as I laughed.
"Aw come on, you should've known how I drive," I smiled wider at him.
"I forgot that you're that scary."
"Big city driving," I smirked at him as we walked into the bank to find two dead bodies and a ton of witnesses and some injured.

We walked up to the new corner who I couldn't remember his name which was bad, I know but I haven't gotten the chance to really talk to him much. As he did his examination of the body before we could investigate, I looked around at all the witnesses who were grouped with the cops as I stood there waiting for the go ahead to start processing.

"You want the main scene or the witnesses?" Jesse asked as a smirk grew on my face.
"Have fun with all those people."
"Aww thank you," He gave me a sarcastic smile as I smirked and went to work on photographing the scene and collecting evidence.

About half an hour later, Jesse walked up to me after talking to a few main people who were at the bank and getting evidence from them as well.

"So no one knows who the shooter was or what his motive was," Jesse sighed as I collected a piece of evidence.
"Never do," I mumbled as I picked up what looked like it was a fingernail, "But this could help us."
"Is that a fingernail?" Jesse questioned.
"It looks like it," I shrugged, "Could be the shooters or it could mean our case just got bigger."
"Nice."
"Let's finish up here and get this evidence back to the lab," I motioned to him as we finished

Getting back in the car, I called Horatio to let him know what was going on as we headed back to the lab with some of the evidence that we couldn't send or do ourselves. The car ride was silent at first when Jesse decided to break it.

"Look Sylar, about that kiss the other night-"
"It was just our last kiss," I shrugged, "It was nothing."
"Did you tell Ryan?"
"No.'
"Why not?"
"Because," I looked at him, "Just don't question it."
"For the record," He smiled at me, "I really enjoyed it."
I was silent as he watched me as a lot was going through my head right now.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing."
"Yes you are," He smirked.
"I'm thinking that we need to find who this shooter was."
"You enjoyed it too, didn't you?" Jesse questioned as I didn't look at him.
"Shut up," I mumbled as his face brightened up.
"I knew it."
"Whatever," I rolled my eyes, "Whatever it was, whatever I felt then, it doesn't matter. I'm with Ryan, he's the only one I want to be. Whatever we had Jesse was in the past, it won't happen again."
"Ok," He shrugged as I pulled back into Miami Dade.

By lunch time approached, there wasn't much known about the shooter yet and the kiss that I had with Jesse was getting to me, so I escaped early to go to lunch by myself to some place that I haven't been in over 5 years. It was a place that I wasn't too proud of going to but I was stressed, felt wrong that here was the only place I felt like I fit in.

Watching the sign of "Gentleman's Club" appear, I rolled my eyes since it was just a strip club but apparently naming it Gentleman's Club made it less sleazy. I walked up to the owner and bartender as quietly as I could as they smiled when they seen me.

"Sylar?" Ashton, the bartender smiled at me, "Is that really you?"
"Yeah," I nodded at him.
"Life's rough huh?" He smirked as I nodded again, "I figured since last time you were here, it was just one dance and then you left. It's the same isn't it?"
"It is,"
"Alright," He sighed with a smile as he looked at me, "You know where to change."
"Thanks," I nodded as I walked off as I went to change which wasn't really into anything specific.

As I approached the main stage of the club, I heard Bon Jovi's "Say It Isn't So" start to play over the speakers as I got lost in the music, not caring who stepped into the club at the time.
Just as I was dancing on the stage, Jake who had been called in to work on this case, walked into the club with Natalia in which Natalia was on the phone with someone.

"Um, no Ryan, I haven't seen her," Natalia mentioned as she walked into the club then noticed me on the stage, "Oh my god."
"What?" Ryan asked quickly as she shook her head.
"I'll talk to you later," Natalia hung up the phone as she looked at Jake who was staring at me with one of those big brother like stares, "Is she actually-"
"I told her not to come back here," Jake glared as he waited for the song to end as he made his way up to the front of the stage.

"I thought I told you to stay away from here," Jake crossed his arms as I looked up at him as my face dropped.
"I have been I swear, it's just-"
"Don't," He stopped me, "Get in the car."
"Is Ryan here?" I questioned as I watched him.
"No, thank god," He huffed, "Wait in the car for us."
"Ok," I nodded as I walked out to the car to sit in the seat in just stripper like clothes since I forgot mine in the club as I waited on Jake and Natalia.

No one said anything on the way back to Miami Dade as Jake gave me a trench coat then brought me back into the station. We stood in the main lobby, him giving me death glares as he waited for my explaination.

"To be fair, I haven't been there for 5 years," I started as he ran a hand through his hair.
"You're better than that!"
"Am I?" I questioned as I looked at him.
"What are you talking about?"
"Things have just been going crazy lately," I looked at him as he raised an eyebrow at me.
"How? You've got the perfect boyfriend, an amazing son, a great job. Explain to me please how things are going crazy."
"I can't," I bite my bottom lip.
"Are you in trouble?"
"No."
"Is Ryan?"
"No."
"If you needed the money, I could've helped you-"
"It's not that Jake!" I stopped him.
"Then what is it?"
"I'm stupid," I looked at him as he waited for me to explain, "I thought if I just didn't say anything or forget about it, then it'd go away."
"What?"
"Jesse kissed me and I kissed back," I looked at him as Jake was about to say something but looked behind me.

I looked over my shoulder to see Ryan standing there with a hurt look on his face as I turned to face him.

"Ryan," I felt tears in my eyes, "Ryan, I didn't-"
"Save it," He rushed past me as I looked back at Jake.
"See, that's why I didn't say anything," I could feel the tears falling down my face, "I didn't want that to happen."

I turned to go in the direction that Ryan had walked off as I had to find him to talk.
