Sequel: Black Rose

Statues Without Eyes

Sick

I had been home for a few hours with Ryan as Tyler was finally put down to bed. I was just sitting on the couch with him watching some random TV show as he kept me company since I was still upset about Eric leaving. That's when the front door decided it should have a visitor as I got up to see who it was.

Opening the door, I seen a red, puffy eyed Calleigh standing in front of me.

"Oh are you busy?" Calleigh sniffled a bit, "I could come back-"
"Calleigh," I sighed as I opened the door, "Don't you dare walk off now."
"Thanks," Calleigh lightly smiled at me as I shut the door behind her.
"You doing ok?"
"I miss him," Calleigh's tears started to fall down her face as I pulled her into a hug, "He's on his way to California now."
"Aww Calleigh," I gave her a light smile as I pulled her to the couch to sit down, "I miss him too."
"It's just, I never thought it would hurt this bad."
"I know," I sighed trying to keep my tears back as Ryan got up from the couch.
"Do you ladies want anything?"
"Yeah anything stiff," Calleigh wiped her tears.
"Diet coke," I nodded at Ryan then back at Calleigh, "I still can't drink because of the pain medicine yet."
"I'm not interupting anything, am I?"
"No," I shook my head, "It was just so watching TV since Tyler's asleep, me trying not to cry."
"It must be hard on you too," Calleigh smiled lightly at me, "Losing your best friend. Eric told me a lot about having to save you and help you."
"Yeah," I smiled lightly as Ryan brought back the drinks then kissed me on the head.
"I'm going to bed," Ryan smiled lightly, "If you two need anything."
"Night," I smiled at him as he kissed me again.
"Thanks babe," Calleigh smiled as he waved then went to bed.

"Ugh," Calleigh sighed as she ran a hand through her hair a few hours later, "I'm sorry you have to see me in such a mess."
"Don't be," I gave her a light smile, "I get it."
"Have you ever had to watch the person who love just leave?" She asked as I nodded.
"Yeah."
"Who?"
"Jesse," I looked at her as her eyes went slightly wide, "We were supposed to get married a while back but he cheated."
"Wow."
"Yeah, it just hurt but I did blame myself for it."
"Why?"
"It's nothing," I shook my head, "Don't worry about me. It's the lack of sleep talking."
"Well, I should be going-"
"Nonsense," I smiled at her, "You're in no state to be alone. I'll get you an extra blanket and pillow."

After I got Calleigh the blanket and pillow, she was out like a light on the couch as I drug myself to bed with Ryan. He was sleeping with no shirt on as I crawled in to feel his naked arms wrap around me and pull me into his chest. I was dead asleep, listening to the silence on the baby monitor when I heard the sound of crying come over the speakers as I slowly opened my eyes. Turning over I noticed that Ryan was gone as I looked around the room.

"Ryan?" I questioned as I groaned and slowly got up from the bed with a house coat pulled around me.

Walking into the nursery, I found Tyler crying as Ryan was trying to get him to sleep. I heard subtle coughs come from Tyler as I walked towards Ryan.

"Everything ok?"
"Sy," Ryan looked at me, "Does he feel warm to you?"
"Let me see," I walked closer as I felt his forehead to feel him burning up, "He's burning up."
"That's what I thought," Ryan sighed as I went to get the baby asprin.
"We'll give him some of this for now," I poured the amount that Tyler needed as I gave it to him, "And keep an eye on him."
"There you go Tyler," Ryan bounced him on his arm as he tried to calm him down, "Ssh, just get some sleep."
"Want me to try?" I asked as he handed me the crying baby as I went to rock him to sleep which he slowly calmed down but was still upset.

I handed him back to Ryan to put him in the crib which I was silently grateful that I did since Tyler did what I liked to call "The Exorcist" on Ryan, throwing up like a waterfall all on his shirt.
I bit my lip since it was funny in some sense since it wasn't me who got it but at the same time, I was worried.

"Here," I took Tyler as I gave Ryan a sympathic yet it was still smirk, "You go get cleaned up and I'll call Alexx to see if we should take him to the emergancy room or make a doctor's appointment."
