Midnight Runner

Chapter 8: Betrayal.

This time I wore a deep red thin ruffled dress with thigh high stockings and no shoes. I walked through the huge mansion humming a tune I heard Aro playing on the piano, laughing to myself the pain I had felt was somewhat gone I had even forgot the very vivid dream that had wrapped me in that very pain. It all seemed better cause whatever I had in the past caused me to hurt. Being here and not knowing everything was fine with me because I was bundled up in warmth from Claius and the others.

I stopped by a huge bronze like metal door where I herd banging. I stepped up to it slowly as I nudged the door open to where I two huge guys standing. “AHH!” I screamed stepping away. “No, no Paige it’s me.” A voice said to me as he opened the door up all the way. “Who are you?” I questioned him stepping back as he stepped forward. “Jacob, you don’t remember me?” He looked like he was hurt from something but not physically, mentally. “No I don’t.” I paused for a moment holding in my breath getting ready to scream. “Claius!!!” I screamed when in an instant he was there. I gripped on to his jacket and stood by him.

“Do you know these guys?” He looked at me. “No but he says I do.” I pointed to the person who stood closest to me. “Claius give Paige back!” The person growled at him as Claius growled back. “If she says she doesn’t know you, she doesn’t.” He smirked as one of them in the back who looked like the leader got angry. Why was I acting like a little girl? All the sudden that question popped up in my head but I had to shake it as I stood in the middle of a fight waiting to happen. One of then stepped up to this “Jacob” and put his hand on his shoulder. “She’s gone, Jake lets drop it and go home.” He said trying to turn him around. “Right.” He had glared at Claius and smiled weakly to me.

They disappeared closing the doors, as I still stood there stunned. “You okay?” He looked at me. “Yah I think I’m going to go to my room.” I sighed walking off. Reaching my room I locked it and walked to the window and sat down on the ledge. The pain I once had before was there again and it hurt more than usual. I put my head on my knees as the once sunny day turned into a foggy depressed day that fit me. I was confused I knew the person who stood behind me as feelings for me but the person who stood in front of my was in love with me.

I looked out the window as my head spun with rapid thoughts then I saw it, it was another vision.

I was watching from the sidelines, I was at an airport getting ready to leave when the same guy earlier. “Paige, where do you think your going!?” I looked shocked but turned around. “I’m going home!” I yelled back to him. He had paused and it looked weird looking at myself from the outside in. “The place were your dad and brother died, the place where you mom is physically and mentally unable to work and the place where you don’t have me!?” Soon he had grabbed her [me] from behind hugging her [me].

Tears came down ever more as I looked at the same street I had been for the past two days. “Ja-jacob.” I whispered noticing I remembered the guy’s name and remembering that when I was little he and a guy named Embry just came over to me randomly and started playing with me in the sandbox.

I sat there for a couple more moments until I realized I didn’t ever know Claius or any of his friends he had made it all up. I snuck to the closet pulling out a black cloak that seemed a little long but would be perfect. I wrapped it around my shoulders and buttoned the one button on the top. The quickest way was through my window. I had no clue where I was going but I had to I get out now before I might be too late.

I looked below and saw nothing that I could jump on but to the right of me was a pipe big enough to descend down from. I looked back to the door, which led to the hall and whispered. “I guess this is what you call Betrayal.” I turned around reaching for the pipe climbing down steadily. I reached the ground running off into the day not once looking back.
