We Taught Ourselves to Fly

The last time anyone saw Lavine Peters in Kettering, Ohio, she was standing with her thumb stretched in the evening sun, a tattered suitcase at her feet. A humid wind fluttering her hair about the painted skyline. She was sixteen.

The last time anyone saw Rob Dyrdek in Kettering, Ohio, he was inside a lit taxi in the dead of night. Skateboard in hand, his heavy eyes closing in the twilight. The destination traveling down the ever-rolling highway ahead of him. He was seventeen.

They both found themselves in Hollywood, California. One for the better, and one towards the opposite. In a meeting by chance, Rob and Lavine reunite almost ten years later. Rob now a professional skateboarder, and Lavine working at a Sunset boulevard car wash.

They both taught themselves to fly without each other.
But now, they must fly together.
