Let's Get Reckless.

What They Say About Me

“It feels so weird” I wiggled my Converse clad feet as we walked inside another one of the stores lining the beach. We’ve been shopping today since today was on off day. We still had part of the cast that were kids and had school lessons to do.

I sat on the the little bench as Joe looked around. “I don’t wear shoes, besides heels and sandals.”

“Well excuse the shoes.” Joe fake scoffed and I smiled, looking back to the tennis shoes.

“I actually like them. They feel nice and they look adorable.” I admired my feet, head cocked to the side.

“Weirdo. You would call a pair of shoes adorable.” He laughed and I blushed, laughing too.

“Be quiet. And when are we finally going to eat, Joe?” My stomach seriously hated me right now. I couldn’t blame him, I missed food right now too.

“Uhh. Now. C’mon let’s go.” He held his hand out for me to use to get up. I accepted it, but we didn’t release when we left the store. I was sort of glad, in a content kind of way. Joe was…comfortable. Just relaxing to be around, I guess. Not in the Nick sort of way. The type of comfortable I needed to change what a horrible person I came to be.

“This sound good?” He asked once we came up to a Seafood place. I looked inside and saw it was an open building, no doors but a main entry and two walls that weren’t there. They overlooked the beach and the other showed the street. I swallowed the smells that we’re coming from it, making the hunger grow.

“It smells good. I wanna try it.” This time I was pulling him along. Once the waitress saw us she immediately led us two a small table up some steps.

“Anything I could get you, two?” She asked, a humongous smile on her made up face.

“Two strawberry lemonades” Joe said and winked at me while I looked confused.

“Coming right up” She darted away into the kitchen.

“Since when do you give the orders?”

“Since I declared myself you fun coach. Strawberry lemonade is the bisnazz” I crinkled my face in disgust at the word and laughed.

“Never again in your life.”

“Whatever. You’re gonna start saying it.”

“Hah! I can guarantee that won’t happen. The word sounds like a retarded super hero or something.” I opened the menu to check out what they had. I was excited to start eating like I wanted! That meant carbs! And I was pretty sure I wanted to devour shrimp right about now.

“I want the Golden Shrimp Platter.” I stated, setting my menu down.

“Hm. I’m getting the Double Bacon Cheeseburger.” Joe said and also put his menu on the table. I’d seen his meal in the menu and it was…big.

“Can you eat all that?” I asked, warily.

“Woman, you underestimate my power.” He scoffed and I laughed.

“Here are your strawberry lemonades. Ready to order?” She asked Joe. Obviously, she was infatuated with him. Yeah, it seems like a lot of girls were.

“Could I get the Double Bacon Cheeseburger and the Golden Shrimp Platter. Both come with bottomless fries?”

“Mhm.” She chirped.

“Okay. That’s all.”

“I’ll make sure they get your orders out right away.” Then she was gone again.

“I never noticed really how much girls love you, guys.” I commented taking a sip of the drink. “Oh this is really good!”

Joe chuckled at my excitement. “Told you. And yeah, it gets crazy. I’ve gotten bras thrown at me on stage!”

That outburst sent me choking on my beverage in an attempt to laugh at him.

“Breathe!” He began pounding my back with his hand which, truthfully, wasn’t doing crap but bruising me.

“I’m” I coughed, “Fine! Cut it out! I’m okay!” I knew we just caused a scene and my cheeks flamed up.

“You are ridiculous” I muttered at Joe after wiping my face and coughing a few more times.

“Ridiculous just saved your life, Missy. You should thank me.”

“The only thing you did was beat me.”

“To save you life which I did. Which brings me back to the point that I saved you.”

“Whatever.” I rolled my eyes. I noticed I didn’t get so worked up. This was more like playful banter and that put a smile on my face so big it made my cheeks ache.

“What the hell is up with you?” Joe asked, looking wary. I began to laugh uncontrollably. Because I was happy! Hah! I was having fun arguing!

I heard him mutter something about ‘Bi-polar chicks in the industry’ as the waitress came back with our food, looking at me much as Joe had.

“Ooh. This looks good.” I immediately dug in. Until I looked up, I didn’t know Joe was looking at me. An amused smirk graced his lips and I smiled a little, sort of curious and self conscious at the same time.

“You’re a savage.” He laughed and I slowed down eating. I noticed the vast size of the Cheeseburger on his plate.

“Joe that’s humongous.”

“Wanna bite?” he asked, picking the hunk of meat up.

“I’ve never tried a burger before.” I admitted and his eyes bugged. “Bite it,” He demanded.

“It’s too big!”

“Open your mouth and take a bite!” He leaned more over the table and so did I, giving in with a sigh.

“Fine.” I looked at the taunting thing and opened my mouth as wide as I could, taking barely a piece of it. I had to shake my head to tear it away.

I felt the juice and ketchup covering my mouth and Joe’s smirk told me so.
“Cute,” He commented. I rolled my eyes and cleaned my face off with a napkin.

For the rest of the lunch we talked, laughed, argued, stole each other’s food. It really was fun to have someone to just laugh with. Joe was perfect for that. He got a French fry stuck in his nose which made me laugh ‘til I cryed. We were so preoccupied with ourselves that the paparazzi that were steady snapping pictures were invisible. That is, until we left.

“Oh God, how long were they there?” I asked Joe after our bill was payed. He shrugged his shoulders.

“Dunno.” He seemed not to care, but how could he not? He had a girlfriend and I’m pretty sure to everyone around us it looked as if we were definetly combined in some form of a relationship.

“You do realize this is a mess. They think we date now, or that’s what they’re gonna say.”

“They say a lot of things. Recently they said the Jonas Brothers were breaking up because of Kevin getting engaged. But look who’s still a group.”

“Yeah but-“” I stopped myself thinking about what he said, “Kevin is engaged?”

Joe nodded slowly, like it was the most obvious thing. “Since, since when?”

“When we came back for that week. He proposed and people said we were breaking up. It’s just lies, Jamie.”

“Wow.” I said and got back on track. “But, um, like I was saying. It’s different. Of course you guys breaking up is a load of crap. But us going on a lunch date is much more possible.”

He was quiet while he thought about. “True.”

We exited the restaurant, being overcome by the cameras I slipped on my shades and me and Joe walked down the street.

“Wanna go back to the hotel?” He asked once we walked two blocks and they were still following. We ignored their questions of if we were together or Joe cheating on Camilla. That one was a bittersweet though. I felt bad for people thinking Joe could be a cheater. But then good because I imagined Camilla being furious when she found out. Then there was the side of nervousness. People could think me and Joe were dating. That I was the girl he was cheating with! And that’s just preposterous.

Well now I guess my game face was finally needed.
