The house of Parker(Book 2)

The house of Parker(Prt. 20)

Parker opened the oak door to the back yard with his free hand, for his other was intertwined with mine. He smiled down at me with a foreign tint to his eyes. I gave him a sly smile, trying to decipher his look. His smile was so knew and foreign to me I wanted to take a minute to analyze it. I couldn’t help but smile brighter as I saw a genuine smile of happiness and a loving tint to his eyes. He looked so different staring at me now than he ever had before. Usually his eyes held angry, sadness, or lust, but now, at this very moment he seemed perfectly at ease and enjoying himself. Something we both hadn’t experienced in a while. There has been so much chaos and drama, it’s nice to break away and just be free.

Free to Parker was dragging me through his house, to the back yard doors. I guess he had some fun activity outback that he wanted us experience. He opened the door never faltering in his smile while tugging at my hand to follow him outside. I grinned looking at him trying to hold in my laughter. I looked all around the huge yard that was covered in autumn leaves, and past that to the forest that held bare trees, that seemed to stretch on for miles.

I raised my eyebrows at Parker as I said “Leaves?”

“Yes leaves,” he said while smiling at me like a little kid at a candy store. I could tell he was proud of himself for the idea he had come up with, which I had yet to decipher.

“And what are we doing with the leaves?” I asked inconspicuously.

“This,” he said before he let go of my hand and ran in front of me in a blur. I felt wind whirl around me causing my hair to go in all sorts of directions. When it finally stopped I gasped as I saw Parker standing there nonchalantly in front of a huge pile of leaves, and when I say huge, I mean HUGE. Every single leaf that was covering the dirt brown ground was now in this pile.

“What are you planning?” I said while putting my hands on my hips.

“Well I thought we could be like little kids.” Parker said grinning mischievously at me.

“What! Parker I am not jumping in a pile of leaves, there could be sticks in there! What if I jump in and my heart is pierced by a lanky stick and I die?” I said opposing this idea.

He looked at me affectionately and smiled shaking his head walking towards me. His expression turned honest as became closer, right in front of me.

“Nothing,” He whispered leaning in to my ear while gently and ever so slightly placing his right hand over my heart “Will pierce your heart.” I blushed a deep shade of crimson, but held his gaze mesmerized by his emerald shade of green eyes.

“You promise?” I whispered back while gently placing my hand over his and interlocking our fingers over my heart.

He closed his eyes, with a smile playing on his lips. I closed mine as well as I felt his cold, but comforting forehead lean against mine. I felt his cool breath against my face as my own breath began to increase. “I vow to never let anything pierce your heart, Lily.” He said playfully.

I smiled shaking my head at his choice of words.

“Now come on!” He said abruptly while picking me up and throwing me in the pile of leaves, like I was just another leaf myself. I screamed at as he threw me in the pile, until I hit the crunchy, but soft leaves that were a little moist. I emerged from the pile of leaves and huffed crossing my arms.

“Wait, wait!” Parker called while running over to me. He grabbed hold of my arms and spun me around checking every inch of me.

“There’s no sticks!” He said outraged. I couldn’t help but let my serious grin turn into a playful one. He was so cute and funny.

I glanced down at the ground as saw at the edge of the pile of leaves was a stick. I smiled evilly and bent down grabbing it. “Yeah there’s not a stick this time.” I said advancing towards him with my own stick, while poking him in the chest with it.

“Hey,” He said frowning and grabbed my stick from him. Then he gently pushed be back making my fall into the pile of leaves yet again.

“Hey!” I complained and was about to sit up when I felt him on top of me. His hands were on both sides of my face trapping me, while his body was hovering over me. He beamed with excitement at our position. I smiled and rolled my eyes at him. Boys will be boys I thought. Then he leaned down and kissed me romantically. He leaned in more wanting to deepen the kiss as I groaned in frustration and said “Parker.”

“Hmm?” He said not wanting to stop what he had so graciously started. I lightly pushed his chest up so he could give me room and I reached my arm back underneath my back and pulled out a stick that was digging into my back now.

“No sticks huh?” I said smirking in triumph, I was right.

“What stick?” He said grabbing it lighting fast and throwing it off. I scuffed outraged. “Now where were we?” He said while leaning down and kissed me shortly.

“Ah, here,” He said while kissing me with more force this time.

“Parker,” I said in between kisses. “What are we?”

He stopped momentary, “Your Lily my girlfriend, and I’m Parker your boyfriend,” he said, then leaned down to kiss me once again. I put my hand up to stop him as he sighed exasperated and rolled off of me lying beside me. He leaned his head over to look at me as I did to him. I looked around us as I absorbed our environment. We were surrounded by walls of leave shielding us in from the outside world, as they began to flutter with a slight breeze.

“What do you mean?” He said in a pained voice, bringing me back to our current situation.

“I don’t know,” I said leaning over more to get better situated. “I just want to get to know you more; I mean if you think about it, I don’t really know a lot about you.” I said thoughtful.

“We are always arguing or kissing and when we’re not we’re wishing we were arguing or kissing.” I said smilingly slightly.

“We never actually had a deep conversation.” I stated.

“Deep,” He said grinning. “I can do deep.”

“Seriously, Parker,” I said hitting him playfully.

“Alright,” He said simply while getting up. He reached down and grabbed my hand helping me up.

“What are you doing?” I asked confused.

“Being deep,” He said furrowing his brow as to why I would be confused.

“Okay?” I said still confused. I decided to drop the matter as he led me back into the house and to my room. Once we were in there I let go of his hand and climbed on top of my bed exhausted. I’m never tired until I actually slip into my bed and my head hits my pillow. My bed was a contagious disease that I always caught when I laid upon it.

Parker climbed on after me and laid down facing me.

“My names Parker Anthony Graham, born in 1812,” He started to say, but I cut him off outraged.

“1812!” I said shocked, “That means your 197 years old!”

“I know,” He said glaring at me, “Anyways…”

I soon zipped my mouth shut wanting him to continue more.

“I was originally born in Florence, Italy, which is where I was also changed. My family is all dead now and I have a girlfriend named Lily.” He said smirking at the last part.

I smiled slightly as I felt him start to play with a curl in my hair. I was so curious about his past, and his family. There was one question though that was taunting my mind.

“Parker,” I said in a strained voice. “Have you...have you...have you ever been in love before?

He immediately stopped playing with my hair and looked at me strained. I knew my answer right there and then, he had.

“Who was she?” I asked slightly somber.

“She died.” He said trying to put on a front with his eyes and face, but I could tell from his despairing voice he loved her a lot. He loved her more than he liked me. Hell he doesn’t he love me, he just likes me. I couldn’t help but compare myself to her in my head. I had no idea what she looked like, but I knew she was pretty.

Suddenly he got off the bed and left gently shutting my door. I sighed as I dug my head deeper into my pillow, I had upset him. I should have never brought up the past, the past is the past and it should say that way.

“Stupid,” I muttered while scolding myself. Just then I heard the faint click of the door knob and saw Parker emerge from the door with a white-stained booklet in his hands. He climbed back onto my bed and handed me the worn booklet silently. I took in a sharp breath before opening up the fragile booklet ever so gently. There in a circular picture form sat her. She was sitting on a chair looking very poise with her hands on her lap. Her hair was curled and hung loosely around her face that held high cheek bones. She wore a big puffy gown that was cut low at her breast area, that I’m sure only she could pull off. I was wrong, she wasn’t pretty, she was beautiful.

“What was her name?” I whispered.

“Elizabeth Grace Harold,” he said smilingly slightly. I closed the booklet and handed it back to him pensive. He liked her very much, and I don’t blame him. Maybe that’s why he was so angry when I met him. He had been hurting for around 180 years. Tears brimmed my eyes as I thought of him being, bitter, heartbroken, and hostile.

“Excuse me,” I said lightly while getting off the bed and walking soundlessly to the bathroom. I closed and locked the door, leaning against it. I slid to the floor and brought my knees up to my arms letting tears slid down my flushed cheeks.
