Viper Returns to Hogwarts

The Gang

“See ya sweetie, have fun.” Henry kissed the top of my head, handing me my luggage. Russell gave a sad hoot. With a hearty laugh, Henry kissed the top of Russell’s head as well. “Bye bye Russell. Keep an eye on her!” Russell fluttered his wings in agreement, digging into my shoulder more. I slightly winced.

“Ah, Miss Albatrosse!” A familiar gruff voice called to me. I turned to see the giant of a man who always cared for me at Hogwarts.

“Hagrid! So nice to see you again!” I smiled, returning the sudden bear hug he gave me.

“Hagrid, long time no see.” I hear Henry say behind me. Strange…I thought he had already left. He must’ve seen Hagrid before leaving.

“Henry, how’ve ya been?” They shook hands, their history together going way back.

“Excellent, especially since Michella is getting a second chance.” He ruffled my hair again, making me frown. “How are you, buddy ol’ pal?”

“Just fine- ah bloody hell! We need to go now, Viper!” I smiled as he was one of the only teachers to call me by what I preferred.

“Why?” My brow creased. Did the train have to leave early or something? Uncle Henry had also pulled strings to get me to Hogwarts on the train and I’d be there alone…

“Because Ross, Glick, and Valentino are returning -” Before he could even finish, I was running like mad towards the nine and three quarters station. Running through the brick, I saw two familiar guys loading their luggage and a red head pressing her face to the window, yelling obscenities at them.

“HELLOOOOO!” I cried out, Russell fluttering off my shoulder at my outburst. The three turned to me and the tall one dropped his luggage.

“VIPER!” They all yelled, running towards me. Well, the guys were. My red headed best friend simply stuck her middle finger at me out the window.

“Hey Jet, hey Evan!” I hugged the two cuties that were also my best friends. Jet was tall and strong, a blondie with light green eyes that could make anyone melt. Evan was only a little taller than me with jet black hair and caramel eyes, still sporting his snakebites.

“C’mon ya three, it’s gonna leave without ya!” Hagrid tried to get us settled on the train…something I had forgotten about. “Just get on, I’ll do the luggage!” He lightly shoved us aside, we didn’t mind, and began to load our luggage. I jumped on the train, amazed to see how awesome it was without the other students cluttering about.

“Did ya miss me?” I asked Carmen as I laid on the seats, my head resting in her lap.

“Not one bit!” She grinned, pushing a lock of hair behind her ear. Her chocolate brown eyes were still locked on me and I raised an eyebrow.

“Honey, am I just that gorgeous you can’t get enough of me?” I giggled lightly, my fingers playing with the strings at the front of her plaid tank top. Yes, we’re that close.

“Your eyes are being weird.” She took out her compact mirror and I gladly took it.

“Yeah, they are.” Jet scrunched his nose at the sight of me. What was so bad about my eyes that I got THAT reaction? Flipping it open, I almost dropped the thing. One eye was perfectly crystal blue and the other was golden and the pupil narrowed…like a snake. My eyes normally phased back from the snake eyes perfectly!

“Huh, that’s weird.” I handed Carmen the compact back. “It’ll phase back soon. It can’t stay snake eye for long, cause it begins to hurt.” I smiled gently, picking myself up. Carmen’s shorts caught my attention.

“Isn’t that mine?” I saw the evil glint in Carmen’s eyes. I remember lending her my favorite pair of shorts – dark wash, ripped, and the Slytherin logo on the right back pocket – before we got caught and sent back home.

“Well you don’t live near me, so I had no way to contact you!” She sniffled a little. Ah, so the drama queen is back. I just rolled my eyes.

“Ah whatever” I chuckled, resting my feet on both Jet and Evan’s legs. I really needed to stretch them anyway.

“So how was Mr. Johnson? ‘Happy’ to see you?” Jet grinned maliciously. I took out my wand – a gorgeous black one made from Gaboon Ebony, 15 inches, and enchanted with phoenix talon – and with a single flick of my wrist after muttering something under my breath, Jet’s screams filled my ears. “VIPER, SERIOUSLY?!” He tried to claw off the leech attached to his cheek.

“No, not seriously.” I straightened up as I heard heavy footsteps in the hallway. Hagrid slid the glass door open and I couldn’t help but remember the time Dementors slid on the train…I shivered, as I had seen one pass my little cab. I can still feel my blood run cold whenever I think about it.

“Alright, kids! Ready to go back?” Hagrid chuckled, as he knew us well. He knew how we all didn’t want to go…yet here we were.

“No” Jet and Evan shook their heads at the same time.

“Gag me with a spoon!” Carmen crosses her arms over her chest with a huff. Hagrid heartily laughed, and it was out turn to laugh when the train started to move, causing Hagrid to lose his balance and fall. “Earthquake…” Carmen giggled behind her hand, hoping the professor didn’t hear her.

“Quit your laughin!” Hagrid struggled to stand up, holding onto the side of our door. “I’ll be sittin in the cab next to yas, so if you need anything I’m right there.” We nodded as the big man turned around, closing the door and immediately falling asleep.

“Hogwarts better be ready!” I beamed, crossing my arms behind my head. My friends could only laugh. I smiled, so glad to see my friends again. I thought that since no one could bail them out, I was going back in alone. Now? I’m equipped and ready to fire. I couldn’t help but wonder what would have happened in my absence – hookups, scandals, new cliques, and of course what happened to the lovely Slytherin.
