Full Mental Case

Talk to me

That night at work, I didn't see Maribeth. She took the week off after getting injured by the vampire's choking. I tried my best to avoid Chace even though he was sweeping right in front of me.

"Evening." he said to me.

I looked up and nodded and then looked back at the computer.

"You okay, did something happen?" he asked me.

"Something happen, no of course not." I said to him shaking my head.

He walked behind the counter and grabbed my arm.

"What are you doing?" I asked him.

"Come on." he said pulling me up and then leading me down the hall.

"Where are we going?" I asked him.

"Visit my room mate." he said.

"I can't let him see me, I'm..." I started.

"He's a werewolf, I think he's used to seeing other werewolves." he said.

"I don't want him to feel bad." I said to him.

"He'll be okay." Chace said and opened the door to Greg's room.

Greg sat on the edge of his bed and turned around and looked at Chace and then me and turned around quickly.

"Go ahead take a seat." Chace said to me pushing me towards Greg.

"I will." I said to him and walked towards Greg slowly.

He was shivering now. I grabbed a chair and sat in front of him. His face was red his eyes teary.

"I'm so, so sorry." he said to me.

Chace sat next to him patting his back.

"It's okay." I said to him.

"I heard you, from up here, screaming, I didn't want any of that to happen to you." he said shaking his head.

"I'm okay now." he said.

"Are you okay?" Chace asked Greg.

He pulled off his glasses and rubbed the tears from his eyes. He sniffled and nodded.

"Since she's a werewolf like you maybe you can give her a few tips." Chace said.

"I don't know any tips." Greg said looking at Chace.

"What about the best hunting places?" Chace asked.

"On the east meadow of Down Woods?" Greg asked.

Chace smiled and pat his back.

"Right." Chace said.

Greg looked back at me.

"I truly am sorry." he said to me.

"It's okay it's not the worst thing I've dealt with." I said.

"What do you mean?" he asked me.

I shook my head.

"Nothing." I said.

"You two should get together." Chace said.

"What no are you crazy!" Greg cried.

"I have a boyfriend." I said to Chace.

"She's beautiful no doubt and you have a lot in common." Chace said smiling.

"Yes she's..." Greg looked at me. "Beautiful but that's not me." Greg said shaking his head.

"Plus I have a boyfriend." I said.

"For how long? Did you tell him what you were today?" Chace asked.

"Chace stop it." Greg said.

I looked down. If I loved him wouldn't I tell him what I was?

"I-I don't know what to tell him. Maybe he won't even believe me." I said.

"True. So Greg where were you attacked?" Chace asked.

"What?" Greg asked him.

"I'm trying to change the subject go on with it." Chace whispered to him.

I just smiled at them.

"Oh, yes, I was attacked from the front. A giant claw mark from my shoulder to my chest." he said.

I frowned.

"How big was it?" I asked him.

"Very big, and terrifying." he said putting his glasses back on.

"So has any of your friends or family seen you lately?" I asked him.

"I have no friends, but Chace and I left my family. After all this took place I had to leave." he said shaking his head.

Chace pat his shoulder.

"Why, wouldn't they have understood?" I asked him.

"That I turned into a flesh thirsty monster. Every twenty-eight days I lose my mind. I can't deal with the thought of me hurting a loved one." Greg said shaking his head.

"What about your family?" Chace asked.

"My family. I don't live anywhere near them. I call and email. But I haven't really visited them." I said.

"Just you and Troy?" Chace asked.

I nodded.

"Troy was considering moving in with me." I said looking at the floor.

Greg looked at me.

"Don't you want him to?" Greg asked.

I looked at him.

"I don't know. I love him but I find it better if we live in separate houses." I said.

"What about marriage?" Chace asked.

I laughed and snorted.

"Yeah, he'd love to marry a werewolf." I said sarcastically and sighed hugging my stomach.

"I ruined your life didn't I?" Greg asked me.

I looked up at Greg.

"Greg no, don't think that. If anything you just added a little kick to it." I said to him.

He gave me a half smile but wasn't convinced.

Chace looked at his watch.

"Looks like visiting hours is over." Chace said and looked at me then Greg.

"Thanks for coming." Greg said to me.

"I'll visit you in the day light hours too." I said to him.

"See you later buddy." Chace said and got up.

They left and I watched as Greg lied down in bed.

"Sometimes you have to talk to him so that he'll go to sleep. He has OCD." Chace said.

"That's so sad." I said to him.

He was born with that." Chace said.

"No he needs to be talked to sleep, he needs a companion. You're a good friend." I said to him.

"Thanks I try. It's hard though." Chace said.

"I have to get back behind the desk to finish up on the computer." I said and turned on my heel.

"Yeah got to get sweeping later." he said to me.

"Later." I said to him.
