You Had Me Wishing We Were Something

When I woke up the next morning a smile spread on my face as I saw John was still asleep next to me his arms still protectively around me. I was beyond happy he was still there. Not gone.

I buried my face in the crook of his neck and then I felt him tighten his arms pulling me into him more.

"Are you awake?"I asked quietly.

"Yeah"He chuckled.

I looked up at his face and he was smiling softly down at me

"Are you better?"He asked softly.

Wow I had actually forgotten up to that moment that Eric cheated on me.

"Now that you mention it no"I said and looked away from him.

"I'm sorry"

"No, its just, I don't want to talk to him, but I have to"I said looking back up at him

"I cant help you with that one.I'm sorry"He chuckled lightly "But I think either I would hit Eric for what he did, or he would hit me first for being with you in the first place"

I couldn't help but smile. I loved this John. So generous.

"So you're afraid of thunder?"He smiled

"I am"I said with a light laugh

"Or you know, was that an excuse to come sleep with me last night?"He chuckled.

"Jerk!"I laughed and sat up making his arms fall from around me.

He laughed lightly as he sat up too. "You don't need an excuse to sleep with me, you're always welcome"

"Fuck you"I laughed "I happen to really be terrified of thunder. I have been since I was a little girl."

"Awe thats so cute"He chuckled.

"Shut up John"I smiled. "Thank you"I said smiling at him and he smiled back

"For what?"He asked.

"Making me laugh and cheering me up. Getting my mind off the whole Eric situation. You're helping me handle this a lot better then I would have handled it alone"

"Ill always be here for you no matter what"He said as he lightly bumped his shoulder into mine "Even if I'm half way across the country performing on stage"

"Thanks for reminding me you're leaving"I groaned. "Wait, but then that means Eric's leaving too so I don't have to see his cheating face for two months. Oh my god this is fabulous"I smiled.

"No, don't get happy I'm leaving"He laughed.

"I told you ill miss you."I laughed.

"Which continues to surprise me"

"Why?"I asked and then looked to the clock on his night stand"Oh my god!"I shouted before he could answer"I have to get ready for school!"I said and jumped out of his bed

"Aubrey, you have like an hour"He laughed

"But I need to get ready!"I said and pretty much ran out of his room and I looked over my shoulder back at John and he was lightly laughing and then fell back on his bed, probably getting back to sleep

I finished getting ready with about ten minutes to spare. I walked into the kitchen to see Mrs.O'Callaghan sitting at the table drinking coffee

"Morning sweety"She said as I took a seat across her.

"Morning"I smiled back.

"You seem to have done alright last night"She chuckled.

"Excuse me?"I asked completely confused

"Your mom had mentioned that you were afraid of thunder when I last talked to her, so I went to go check on you and you weren't in your room, So I went to Johns room to ask him if he knew where you were, but there you were"She chuckled.

"Oh"I said and looked down. I hope she doesn't think anything..

"I didn't know you and my son were so close"She smiled not mad or anything that I basically got caught sleeping in the same bed as him

I shrugged " I was scared, I didn't want to be alone, he was right there"I said looking down at the table. I felt embarrassed for some reason. I felt like I disrespected her.

"Is there something going on with you two?"She asked and I looked up at her and she was smiling, like she loved the idea and it made me feel less guilty

"No, absolutely nothing. We aren't even friends"I mumbled.

"Oh"She said sadly probably hoping I would say yes. Oh boy did I want to say yes. "Oh wait, you're with Eric"She laughed

"No"I mumbled again and looked down

"What! No"She said in disbelief

"Yeah" I said softly.

"Come on Aubrey. Time for school." Mr.O'Callaghan said coming into the kitchen

"Okay"I said getting up from the table "Bye Cindy"

"By Honey"She smiled and drank her coffee

"Hey Aubrey" Josh,Chris,Max and a whole bunch of guys said coming up to me as I was getting my books out of my locker.

"Hey guys"I smiled as I closed my locker and faced them

"So hows the boyfriend?"Max asked. Yes, they basically asked me this question like everyday. And Yes, it gets annoying.

"Fucking asshole"I mumbled

"Did you break up?"Josh asked surprised probably expecting me to say wonderful or something.

"Not yet. But we are as soon as I talk to him. and If you don't mind, I don't feel like talking about it"I said and just walked away from them

That was the moment I actually realized Eric hasn't even called me. Not once. Usually he calls me every morning just to say good morning and have a good day at school.

But not one call or text. Nothing. I never knew I could go from liking someone so much and then the next second hating their guts and wishing they would fall on a knife and die or something. Yes, I hated him with a hardcore passion. Fucking cheaters can all go die together.

"What are you doing here?"I asked through my teeth as I saw Eric standing by his car with a single rose outside of my school.

"I'm sorry"He said sadly.

"Fuck you Eric"I said and started walking right passed him

"I was drunk"He said grabbing my arm and pulling me back over to him

"Drunk or not, you still cheated on me you asshole!"I said pissed and snatched my arm back from him

"Aubrey, you know I would never intentionally hurt you"He said frustrated, desperate.

"Fuck you Eric, nothing you say is going to make everything better. We're over."I said and started walking again.

"Were are you going. Do you know what a long walk this is?"He asked as he stepped in front of me

"I don't care, I'm not getting in a car with you"I said crossing my arms across my chest.

"Aubrey, please, I'm sorry."He said sadly as I uncrossed my arms."I love you"He said softly and held out the rose to me.

I took the rose from him"I don't like roses"I said slightly glaring at his broken face and just chucked the flower to the ground and walked around him as he hung his head low in shame.

As I was walking I actually started crying. I like Eric, I really did. But what he did was unforgivable. I took out my cellphone and searched for Johns name in my contacts.

I had never called him before but Mrs.O'Callaghan had given me his number in case of emergency when I couldn't reach her or Mr.O'Callaghan

I pressed call on his name and held the phone to my ear as I listened to it ring. After the third ring he answered with a

"Yo"

"John"I cried trying to get myself together

"Aubrey? Whats wrong?"He asked all of a sudden worry filling his voice.

"Can you come get me?"I sniffled.

"Of course, where are you?"He asked quickly.

"About a block from school"

"Ill be there in a few minutes"

"Thanks John"I said quietly.

"Ill always be here for you. okay?"He asked softly.

"I'm starting to believe you"I said with a gentle laugh.
