You Had Me Wishing We Were Something

I stared at the beautiful ring for a few seconds and then snapped the little black box shut and threw it into his drewer and quickly gathered the rest of the stuff on the floor. I quickly shut the drewer and walked out of his room, into the bathroom, and then into my room.

I walked over to my bed and flopped onto it, burying my face in the pillow that oddly smelled a lot like John.

Thoughts ran through my head. Was that ring for me? Why did he buy it? Was it originally Amber's? Was he holding it for a friend?

Yeah, that's got to be it, I said coming to a conclusion. Hes holding it for someone.

Should I ask him about it? No. Ill just forget about it. Yeah that's smart.

"Aubs?" I heard John say right before he entered my room. I took my face out of the pillow for a split second as I took a glimpse of him and then dropped my head back down.

"I'm sorry."He said softly and gently.

"I love you" I said into my pillow, and I'm pretty sure it sounded like a mumble because he went "What?"

"I love you"I mumbled again.

"Babe, I really don't know what you're saying" John said as I felt him get in bed with me.

"I said" I started as I turned so I was on my side and facing him "I love you" A smile formed on his face.

"I love you too" he said and kissed my forhead. "I'm sorry about telling you I would take you when I cant. I mean I could always fly back for the day and then go ba-"

"No, its fine. Don't do that. Its not that important anyway" I lied. Ive been dreaming about my prom since I was a little girl. Getting all dolled up for it.

"Are you sure? Or you know, you can go with someone else" He said softly as we looked into each others eyes. There was a trace of sadness evident.

"You'd allow that?" I asked just as softly.

"If it makes you happy then yes" he said gently but looking into his eyes I knew it would kill him if I went with someone else.

"No, I'd rather not go" I said making up my mind "Its not a big deal anyway"

"Are you sure?" He asked "I'm really sorry"

"Yes I'm sure" I said pecking his lips and then giving him a little smile.

He smiled back and then leaned in a little, gave me a sweet kiss, letting his lips linger there for a few seconds and then pulled away and wrapped his arms around me, hugging me like a teddy bear.

We just layed there in silence, lost in thought.

"Eric, I wanna make a snow angle!"I laughed

"Here, ill help you get started"He laughed as he tackled me into the snow and I couldn't help but laugh the whole time.

"I love the snow"I smiled as Eric layed down next to me.

"So whats John think about you being with me again?"He chuckled as he turned so he was facing me.

"Absolutely nothing, hes with Amber so.."

"Oh alright"he smiled "Oh, before I forget, I got you something"Eric said as he sat up

"What? why?" I laughed as I sat up too.

"It was your birthday yesterday, am I correct?" he smiled.

"What? How did you know? I told no one" I said smiling as I was a tad amazed.

"We did date, I make it a point to know my girlfriends birthdays"He chuckled.

"John didn't even know"I said still smiling in amazement.

"Maybe you should have told him"He chuckled. "And sorry I couldn't call or anything yesterday"

"I know, you were with your parents"I said and playfully shoved him"I'm glad you didn't though. I hate when people make a big deal about my birthday, hence why I didn't tell anyone. I mean I obviously talked to my parents yesterday, but that's it, after that it was completely forgotten."

"Aubs, I'm sure John would have loved to know it was your birthday, I thought he knew, or I would have told him" He laughed

"Well good thing you didn't"I laughed

"Well anyway" He smiled and then reached into his hoodie pocket."Happy Birthday" he said and handed me a long white box.

"Eric, I really don't want a present"I said as I just held the box.

"Well that's to bad"He chuckled "open it"

I smiled and opened the box "Awe! Eric, its so pretty! I cant except this" I said shaking my head

"Of course you can"He said as he took the beautiful necklace out of the box and put it on me and then I instantly grabbed the heart that hung from the chain, resting it in my palm.

"I love it"I said as I let go of the necklace and flung at Eric, hugging him tightly making him fall back into the snow and we both laughed as I layed on top of him.

"You are definitely one of those people I cant afford to lose."I smiled down at him.

"Same goes for me"He smiled back "Well since we are both completely soaked, how about I take you home now?"

"Fine" I mumbled "But you have to call me later"

"Promise"He smiled as he leaned up and kissed my cheek.

"Five minutes, lets just lay here for a bit" I said as I rested my head on his chest and buried my face in the crook of his neck.

"I'm not going to argue"He laughed as he wrapped his arms around me.

"Hey babe, how was your day?"John asked as he sat down on the couch next to me and pecked my cheek.

"Fun, you know"I smiled "Hows Amber?"I asked with a little annoyance in my voice

"Hows Eric?" he asked in the same tone.

For some reason I couldn't help but smile and I playfully shook my head and went back to watching my show.

"Its fucking freezing, wanna make hot chocolate?"John asked as he put his arm around my shoulders.

"Oh! Yeah!"I said excitedly "And we should also grab a warm blanket, watch a romance and cuddle! Perfect!, come on"I said hopping off the couch, grabbing his hand and pulling him up as he laughed.

"Ive never loved a girl as much as I love you"He chuckled as he put his hands on both sides of my face and gave me a sweet kiss.

"That better be the case" I smiled as I grabbed his hand and started leading him to the kitchen to make the Delicious hot chocolate while my other hand was wrapped around my necklace
