I Fell In Love When I Least Expected to...

We reached the dining room and everyone stopped whatever they were doing when they saw Nate and I holding hands. I had only seen 5 other wolves from my brother’s pack and since everyone was in human form, I didn’t know anyone.
I realized though that there were only males in the pack. It was slightly unnerving but I knew that my brother’s pack was the one that went to war and the one that settled down things between other packs.
It’s okay for women to be in the pack as long as none of the males gets disrupted by them. That’s because if a male finds his mate, he won’t care about anything else except for the female’s safety and well-being.
Obviously we can’t have that when everyone is a fighter. So the females are in another pack… with another Alpha. As far as I’ve heard from the thoughts of the others, the Alpha in that pack is female and she is my brother’s mate.
I’d have to ask him about that.

Just as I was about to yell at everyone to stop staring, Lucian walked in. He realized that everyone was staring at me and he glared at everyone. Soon everyone went back to their own business and I was left alone to eat in peace.
Nate went off to talk to Lucian and I was kind of pissed when I realized that Lucian was using his power against me.
Lucian can control who can hear his thoughts or anyone else’s. Obviously he didn’t want me, or anybody else for that matter, to listen in on their conversation.

I huffed and sat down at the long table. I put some food on my plate and ate quickly. Since I was free right now, I wanted to run… it would help clear my mind.
Lucian and Nate came over to me and smiled.
“Selene we’re going out tonight…” Nate declared.
“Ok… have fun?” I said confused.
Why did I care if he is going out? If the pack is going out? I’d just stay in my room or something…
“Well… you see, you’re to come too” Lucian said.
“But, we’re going to take you to Melanie’s pack to help you and stuff…” Nate said.
“Melanie? Help me?” I asked.
“Melanie’s my mate… and she’s going to help you get ready for tonight… dress you up and all the things girls do” Lucian said.
“Melly’s going to love you!” Nate said grinning.
“Melly?” I was surprised. Why wasn’t Lucian protective of her? Why was Nate allowed to give her a pet name?
“Melanie is my sister, Selene” Nate said smiling as he heard my thoughts.
“Out of my head, buddy. I’m not a part of this pack and you’re not allowed in my head” I more or less spat out.
“Woah take a chill pill. Jeez sorry” Nate said backing off.
“Selene…” Lucian warned as I growled at Nate.
“You know I hate it when people invade my privacy. That’s why I’m not in a pack… obviously” I said sarcastically.
“I’m still the Alpha and you better respect that, Selene” Lucian said with an edge in his tone.
“Fine…” I said dropping it.
Why bother fighting with him? I’d end up having every single lycan in the pack out to get me.

“Get ready. Nate will take you to her” Lucian said as he left.
“I don’t have anything to pack… dumbass” I mumbled.
Every single head turned and looked at me. They all glared or growled at me for insulting their Alpha.
Jeez and then he wonders why I never wanted to be in a pack!!!

“Come on. We’re leaving… now. Before you cause any problem” Nate muttered as he dragged me outside.
“I can walk by myself you know, thank you very much” I said as I pulled my hand from his grip.
Nate ignored me and, without so much as a warning, he transformed in front of me.
I growled at him and transformed myself. I could feel Nate’s eyes in front of me the entire time smoke surrounded me and just to piss him off, I sent a visual image to his thoughts. It was my old grandmother transforming without the smoke.

He cringed and started swearing. I couldn’t help but laugh my ass off at that.
He huffed and led the way into the deep forest.
After about an hour we reached a waterfall. Nate walked right into it and I couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
I followed him hesitantly and I couldn’t help but stare at what I came across.
Possibly the most beautiful girl stood in front of me in a flower dress. Next to her were 3 lycan bodyguards.

Nate transformed and I followed suit.
This was the beginning of an unforgettable night…
