Secrets Don't Make Friends
I casually shut the door behind me and walked silently into the loud livingroom. My dad pulled me down into the seat next to him and I just kind of obsereved and took everyone in for about ten minutes. When there was a lul in conversation my dad took the opportunity to introduce me to everyone.
"Guys this is Ava, Ava this is everyone," I forced out a smile as a sort of gesture.
Everyone took turns introducing themselves as my "uncles" and "aunts", which kind of made me feel a bit awkward. The kids then introduced themselves, many of them were younger by a year or two but I came to find out there were two other boys who would be in the same grade. They weren't at the house, they had made plans before their parents found out we were having a party.
As much as I hated to admit it I was beginning to like these people. They were so similar to my family, crazy, loud, fun to be around. That made me hate New Jersey even more. I shouldn't be having fun here, I just moved away from everyone.
A bit later I excused myself and went up to my room and took a shower and fell into a dreamless sleep. The next morning I woke up to the sound of my fathers voice telling me it was time for me to get ready for school. I drug myself out of bed and found my way to my closet to pull out my new uniform.
"Ava! Are you ready yet?" I heard Ryland yell through my door.
"Yeah Ry I'll be right down." I yelled back.
I took one last look at myself and grabbed my backpack.
