The Dreamers

Chapter 11: Andrew

The Dreamers that chose to fight were all ready to go to the warehouse. Jon made some last

orders to the few that were staying behind, among them was Radi Patel. Jon gave her a quick kiss and

smiled brightly. She waved and he began the march with the other Dreamers. When they turned the

corner, a large travel bus met them. Jon had had a friend of his lend it to him for the trip. The men and

women piled into the enormous bus, they put the guns and ammunition under their seats once they had

been seated. Once everyone was sitting, Jon took over as driver and put on a policemen uniform, badge

and all. Ikshu had given the suit to him, how the man had gotten his hands on them, he did not know, but

he was glad that he had them. Jon slowly pulled away from the curb and headed in the direction of the

warehouse and his first obstacle, the roadblock.

Jon pulled up slowly to the roadblock and the policemen waiting for him. He stepped down from the bus

and met one of them. The policeman looked very cautious, but once he saw a fellow officer step out of

the bus, his features started to relax.

“Good morning officers! Sorry to have startled you with this bus, but we have tracked down a huge

encampment of religious folk in the city, they are all in this here bus, I am taking them to…well… you

know the spot.”

Jon winked at them and put on a mischievous grin. The other officers laughed as if it were a big joke to

them.

“Well, I am glad somebody had found that last batch of ‘em. We have been looking for those god-lovers

for ages!”

The two officers were grinning widely; they looked like a huge burden had just been taken off their

shoulders. Jon clapped his hands together, as was his habit and smiled at the two officers.

“Well, best be heading out. Don’t want these people to get any ideas.”

Jon began to walk back into the bus.

“Wait, I haven’t seen you on the force before, where are you from buddy?”

Jon turned around to see the two men looking at him suspiciously. Jon’s mind raced as he faked a smile.

“The president has sent out some of his own men to help out in the bigger cities. He doesn’t like how

long this operation is taking and felt it would be better to have some of his own men do the job.”

The two officers took a step back, dumbfounded.

“I see, so we can expect to see you around more often? Officer…”

“Whickey! Officer Whickey, and yes, I will be around much more often, thank you for your time

gentlemen.”

Jon nodded at the two men and went back into the bus, he started up the engine and pulled away from

the roadblock, smiling and waving at the two policemen as he drove by. Once the roadblock was out of

sight, Jon let out a huge sigh. A hand came out from behind him and patted him on the shoulder. It was a

young Rabbi.

“Good job, Jon.”

He winked at Jon and returned his attention back to his gun, which he had been fiddling with ever since

they pulled away from the roadblock. Jon felt a huge wave of achievement rush over him.

About two miles away from the warehouse, Jon pulled off the road and into the small forest that

surrounded the warehouse. He maneuvered the bus in-between the trees with great difficulty. About a

mile away from the Dream encampment, Jon had driven into a ditch. Everyone filed out of the bus and

walked the rest of the way.

When they had made it to the camp, Jon was surprised to see that it had grown by quite a lot since he

had last been there only a few days ago. Small tents were put up, there were men and women keeping

watch with large binoculars, and several large wooden boxes that were marked AMMUNITION were

stacked on top of each other all across the camp. Almost immediately, Jessica, who was now garbed in

camouflage, greeted Jon. She hugged him and lightly kissed him on each cheek.

“Jonathan! Welcome back to our Dream Camp. I see you brought us reinforcements.”

Jessica smiled and waved at the thirty or so men and women behind Jon.

“Yes, but sadly, only a few of them actually know how to use a gun.”

Jessica smiled.

“That’s ok Jonathan, we have people who can train them, just send them over to that tent over there…”

Jessica pointed out the largest tent in the whole camp, which stood about fifty meters south of where

they were. It had a small, wooden side leaning next to it that said, “Gun Training”. Jon pointed his troops

to the tent and they all scurried over to it. Jon returned his attention to Jessica who looked very excited.

“Jonathan, I have someone for you to meet, I think he will help you with clearing your mind and focusing

on your goal at hand.”

Jessica grabbed tightly onto Jon’s hand and dragged him across camp. They stopped at the entrance of

a small, earth red tent. Jessica went in and beckoned for Jon to follow.

When Jon entered the tent, he saw a man sitting cross-legged at the far end of the tent. He wasn’t

wearing any shirt; the only clothes on his body were a pair of small, red shorts. Several women

surrounded him, all admiring his chiseled abdominal muscles. The man noticed Jon and stood up. He

walked across the tent barefoot, careful not to step on any of the women. He held out his hand to Jon,

Jon took it and the man shook it vigorously.

“Good to meet you, Jonathan, my name is Andrew Mack, and this,” Andrew waved his hand around the

tent, “Is my nest, in which I do all of my thinking and all of my research on the anatomy of the human

body.”

Andrew smiled wickedly. Jon looked around at all the girls strewn across the floor, giggling. He felt very

uncomfortable. Andrew continued.

“Jessica told me that she felt you needed my guidance. I would be glad to give it to you.”

Andrew snapped his fingers and a young woman jumped up and gave him a water bottle. He trailed his

fingers along her arm until they reached the water bottle; his eyes were locked on her the entire time.

When he took the water bottle from her and looked away the spell broke and the young lady dropped

back down to the ground, the girls around her giggling. He opened the water bottle and took a sip, then

looked back at Jon and gave him a mischievous smile. He beckoned for Jon to sit down, as he did,

Andrew sat down across from him, as if on cue, the girls around the two quickly swarmed around both of

them, throwing their arms around them. Jon’s jaw tightened.

“Don’t mind the girls, Jonathan, they are only here to help you relax.”

The women started to giggle again. Jon started to relax his muscles but then remembered Radi and

tightened up again.

“I….I can’t have these girls here, they are a distraction.”

Andrew sighed and clapped twice, the girls instantly flew off of Jon and went back to sitting and lying

near by. Andrew leaned forward onto his folded hands.

“So, Jonathan, what is troubling you?”

Jon thought quickly on what he was going to ask, he wanted to gt out of this tent fast, but not without

some insight on how to lead an army.

“How do you motivate such a large group of people?”

Andrew smiled at this question.

“Well, Jonathan, how did you motivate the people that came with you to fight?”

Jon thought about that and had absolutely no idea what he had done to get the Dreamers to fight.

“I have no idea.”

Jon was stumped. Andrew smiled awkwardly.

“To get a group motivated, you have to give them a reason to be motivated, and you have to prove it is

possible to achieve the goal you set in front of them.”

A light bulb turned on in Jon’s head. He had found a way to appeal to the Dreamers on an emotional

level. Andrew seemed to notice Jon’s realization and smiled wider.

“I think you are ready, Jonathan, if you have any more questions for me, you know where to find me, but

now, it is time for me to continue my research of the human anatomy. So I must bid you a farewell.”

“Good bye, Andrew.”

Jon had gotten out of the tent just in time before the women inside started swarming Andrew. Jon quickly

found his way away from the tent and waited for the awkward feeling the tent gave him disappear. It had

hit him that when he left, Jessica had stayed behind in the tent. Jon shivered from the thought. Once he

was satisfied he was back to a normal state of mind, he found his way to the training tent to meet with his

group of religion soldiers.
