Time Is Galleons

The Yule Ball

It was two weeks before the Yule Ball and I was still rather dateless. Angelina and I were sitting at a table in the common room talking about it. She was surprised George hadn't asked me yet. She thought he was going to right away. We noticed the twins sit down on the couch with Ron and Harry. We couldn't help but to listen. They were our topic of conversation anyways.

"Ron, can we borrow Pidgwidgeon?" George asked, smiling.

"No, he's off delivering a letter. Why?"

"Because George wants to invite him to the Yule Ball."

"At least he'd ask someone then," I whispered to Angelina.

"Because we want to send a letter, you stupid great prat." George sighed out.

"Nose out, Ron, or I'll burn that for you too," Fred smirked, waving his wand. "So. . .you lot got dates for the ball yet?"

"Nope." Ron looked over at Harry. Looks like we weren't the only ones dateless at this point.

"Well," Fred continued, "you better hurry up, mate, or all the good ones will be gone."

"Who're you taking then?"

"Angelina."

We looked at each other and pretended to be in conversation again. Just in case they looked back over here. We didn't want to get caught listening to them. Especially with Fred just saying he was taking her to the Ball.

"What? You already asked her?"

"Good point." Fred turned to us. "Oi! Angelina!"

We both looked at him. "What?" She called back, trying not to grin.

"Want to come to the ball with me?" he mouthed as he did some crazy hand movements and dancing. I couldn't help but to giggle. The twins were just too funny at times.

Ang beamed now as a huge grin was on her lips. "Alright, then."

We smirked at each other when she whispered, "now we jut need to get George to ask you. I'm sure he will. Maybe he's just nervous about it?"

"Yeah. . .maybe."

It was three days before the Ball. Still yet, no one asked me. I started to think George wasn't going to. Why didn't he ask me? Maybe he found a girl that he liked so he didn't want to take me. I was pretty much back up anyways. I mean why would you pick your best friend to go to the Ball with if you had a person that you liked? Oh well. I just hoped that George was taking a nice girl. . . . Or so I told myself. In all honesty, I didn't want him to take another girl.

I was sitting outside near the lake. It was very cold out, but I thought it was kind of refreshing. You could see a tentacle from the water once in a while. I smiled as I knew it was the Giant Squid looking for something to entertain him. . .or it — whatever it was.

I heard foot steps behind me. They soon sat down next to me and I turned to see who it was. It was Léon. He offered me the blanket he had taken outside with him. It was big enough for the both of us. I smiled and thanked him while I put the blankets over both of our laps.

"Cold out 'ere, eesn't eet?"

"It is bloody cold."

"So. . .ees anyone taking you to ze dance een a few days?"

"Actually, no one asked me. . ."

"Your best friend George did not ask you?"

I shook my head. "Nope. I'm guessing he's taking another girl."

"Oh. . . . Well, want to go to ze Ball with me?"

"Sure, Léon. That would be. . .that'd be great, thanks. I'd love to go to the Ball with you."

"I can't wait now. I'm sure you weel look beautiful." He kissed my hand and I couldn't help but to smile, he was such a nice guy.

When I got back to the common room, I pulled Angelina a few feet away from the twins.

"What is it, Abbie?"

"I got a date!"

"George asked you?"

"No. . .he never did. . . . But Léon asked me."

"That attractive French guy?"

"Oh yeah," I giggled.

"That's great! Good choice!"

Everyone in our dorm was frantically moving around in our dormitory by six o'clock. Only two more hours and the Yule Ball would begin. Everyone's dresses were out on their beds and everyone was coming out of the showers. Hermione was going with Harry as friends, Louise was going with some mystery guy and Ginny was going with Neville. We were pretty happy that Ginny was going considering if no one asked her, she wouldn't be allowed to go since she was only a third year.

I stood in front of my mirror over my nigh stand in shorts and a tank top. After I carefully applied white and black eye liner, I put on white and light blue eye shadow. I wanted to match completely today. The last thing I put on for make-up was some mascara. It seemed I wasn't the only one carefully applying my make-up. I grabbed my light blue dress and lipped it on before tying the straps behind my neck. I loved this dress. I hadn't showed anyone yet. Angelina only saw it was because we went shopping together. The bottom was slightly poofy with a belt and a silver circle right under my chest. Covering my chest was a slightly darker blue due to the sparkles. I thought the slightly poofy dress fitted my personality. I had carefully chosen my jewellery for the night. I had blue diamond earrings. A silver necklace with a snowflake charm on it; it had blue diamonds on it as well, the same colour as my earrings. For a bracelet, I had a bunch of silver bangles that were attached. I thought I looked pretty good. Last was my hair and shoes. By the time I started my hair, it was already 7PM. I grew nervous and more nervous. Only an hour away would I be showing up to the Yule Ball — my first dance. I used my wand to curl my hair into tiny curls in all directions. My hair didn't stick out of place, though. I thought it looked very cute. Even Hermione loved it. She too, was curling her hair. I pulled two stands and clipped them in the back, this held my hair from getting in my face. After I made sure my bangs were all straight, I put a tiara on. I thought it may be a little bit too much. But tonight, I felt like I was beautiful and that didn't happen too often. Right after I slipped on my heels on that were of course — silver.

I looked at the rest of my roommates. Everyone looked great. Hermione was in a beautiful purple dress with her hair half up and half down in curls. I had never seen her look so beautiful before. I smiled at her. Ginny had her hair down with a few hairs twisted to the back. her dress was green, pink and a darker pink. I looked at Louse who had a golden dress on with a frill going down the middle. I turned to the door and saw Angelina — who had a purple dress on.

"Hey, make sure the twins are out of the common room as fast as you can. I don't want them to see me yet."

"Alright, and Abbie, you look gorgeous."

I couldn't help but to smile, it was my night to shine finally. "Thanks so much."

"Alright, I'll go get the twins out of here. See you down at the Great Hall."

By the time five minutes went by, the twins were no where to be seen. It was a good time to sneak out and get down to the Great Hall. I met up with Léon. I was chatting with him until it was time for us to fill in the Great Hall for dinner and then the Ball. I noticed George and smiled slightly. He looked from me to Léon and looked a bit more than mad. It wasn't long before he came over to us and looked at Léon.

"What're you doing with my girlfriend?" He asked Léon, glaring at him.

"Girlfriend? I thought she was your best friend?"

"No." His cheeks were started to get red as he cleared his throat. "She's my girlfriend and I don't appreciate other guys taking her to the Ball."

"G-girlfriend? . . ." I spoke up, my cheeks blushing furiously as I looked up at George, confused.

His eyes connected with mine as he started to smile. "Yes. . . . My girlfriend."

"Alright then, Mr. Weasley. I knew eet was only about time. Good luck to ze bath of you."

"I'm really sorry, Léon." I felt bad, now he had no date.

"Don't worry about eet, Abbigail. Really, don't. I am 'appy for ze two of you."

With that, he left. I looked up at George. "So. . .since when am I your girlfriend?"

He leaned down and pressed his lips onto mine. I blinked before closing my eyes and kissing back. It was the sweetest kiss. I had been waiting two years for this. Yes, I know. I'm finally admitting it. I wanted the kiss to continue on but he pulled back and placed his hand on my cheek, "since now. Now," he straightened up and looked down at me, "you look gorgeous tonight. Shall we go into the Ball now, love?"

"Yes," I don't think I could smile even bigger, "we shall."

We found where Fred and Angelina were sitting. We joined them and grabbed the menus. Dumbledore had showed us how to order. All you had to do was look at your plate and call the food you wanted. Angelina looked at me questioningly. She noticed Léon was sitting with us. I smiled and just looked down at my menu. There was so much on it and I had no idea what I wanted.

Fred sighed at looked at George. "What's wrong now?" George questioned.

"Your girlfriend isn't sitting up there with Viktor Krum, is she?!" Louise was indeed sitting at the head table with Viktor Krum. "I'm. . .I'm sorry, Abbie. I didn't mean to call you his girlfriend. I know you two are just friends, I'm just upset."

"My girlfriend's looking at the menu like a pillock, actually."

". . .I do not!" I smacked his arm with the menu and laughed.

A large grin grew on Angelina's face while Fred looked at us boggled. "Girlfriend? You two are dating?"

"Well. . .as of a few minutes ago, yeah." I smiled over at Fred and placed my menu back on the plate.

"About time, George! That only took you — what — two years?"

". . .Shut up, Fred. She's mine now, isn't she? No complaining from you."

"Mum's gonna be happy about this."

I blushed even more but I giggled. Mrs. Weasley would, indeed, be quiet happy.

The rest of the night was filled with pure magic. George and I danced so much, I thought I was going to die. The Weird Sisters played and boy, were they good. I think my favorite song was "Do The Hippogriff?" That song was so much fun to dance too. By the end of the night, I was getting tired. Hell, it was nearing midnight. George and I were dancing to a slow song by the Weird Sisters, "Magic Works." One of my hands was on his shoulder and the other was in George's hand. He kept our hands close to him and I rested my head on his chest as we swayed to the music slowly. I loved this — dancing slowly with him. It was so relaxing.

"Love," he whispered.

"Hm?" I looked up at him.

"Let's go back to the common room, the Ball's almost over and I can tell your feet are hurting you."

"Alright."

When we reached the common room, I told him I was gonna go take off my jewellery and dress and then meet him in his dormitory. The first thing I threw off was my shoes. My feet were absolutely killing me. I carefully pulled off my dress and set it upon my bed. I slipped on a tank top and some shorts right after taking off my jewellery. Hermione came up and smiled.

"Going to bed?"

"No, going to George's room."

"I heard from Angelina that you two got together finally, is that true?"

"Very." I grinned widely and placed my tiara on my nightstand. "Bye."

I walked into George's dormitory and saw him sitting on his bed. No one else was in the dorm. He walked over to me and shut the door behind me. I could feel his arms wrapped around me from behind as someone kissed my neck. "Why, hello gorgeous."

"Hi, handsome." I turned around and hugged him. It was nice. George was finally mine. All mine. He hugged back before picking me up and walking over to the bed. He gently put me on his bed before crawling on top of me. This made me blush a deep crimson. My arms slowly wrapped themselves around the back of his neck. Within a few seconds, George's lips crashed into mine once more.

After about a good twenty minutes of just kissing, I spoke up. "George. . ." I looked away and bit my bottom lip. I didn't know how I was going to say this and I didn't know what to do. It was unbelievable how nervous I was.

"Yes?"

"I need to tell you something. . ."

"What is it?"

"I've. . ." I trailed off. I don't think I can do this.

"You've. . ."

I finally looked him in the eyes and took in a deep breath. "I've been in love with you for the past two years. . ."

His face lit up as he kissed me tenderly, whispering, "I can honestly say I feel the same way. . ."

I pulled him closer as we kissed once more. This one was more. . .romantic — passionate. His tongue pushed open my lips and found its way into my mouth as his hands found their way down to my shorts. He slowly started to pull them off as my hands moved down to his shirt and unbuttoned it. He sat up as he threw his shirt off to the floor. I threw my shorts as our eyes never left each others. He got off the bed and walked over to the door and placed his bow-tie on the outside door knob. I got under the covers while he shut the curtains that surrounded the entire bed. He got under the covers and our lips were attached once more. Within the next minute, there was a pile of clothes scattered on the floor on the sides of his bed. His lips travelled from my lips all the way down to my neck.

"I love you, Abbigail Haywood," he whispered.

"I love you, too, George Weasley. . ."
