Lost In You

Kiss

I took the keys out of my pocket and began fiddling with them trying to find the correct one that would get me out of the bitter cold wind. I put the right key in the key slot and turned it. The lock clicked and I opened the door. I sighed in relief once I felt the heat begin to seep into my cheeks. I pulled off my shoes with my heels and went directly upstairs. Okay, I have to admit something. I have a few photographs of Gerard under my bed. I took them in the first week of school with a disposable camera. I pulled the picture Hayden left me in the envelope and layed it on my bed gently. I then got to my knees and looked under my bed and pulled out the black shoe box that my converse came in. I opened the lip and put his picture in the box and put it back under my bed. What would my mother think if she found this box filled with pictures of Gerard? I smiled to myself and stood up. I surveyed my room for a moment in thought. I didn't have any homework so I walked to one of the corners of my room and picked up my guitar. She was black and white with sparkly letters saying 'Pansy' on her. She was the love of my life besides Gerard. I sat on my bed and began strumming her strings. I began playing a tune I heard on the radio the other day.

Kiss me out of the bearded barley
Nightly, beside the green, green grass
Swing, swing, swing the spinning step
I'll wear those shoes and you will wear that dress.

I couldn't remember the rest of the words so I repeated the chorus over and over until my mom called me for dinner. In the end I nailed the chorus. When I headed downstairs I saw my mom putting a steaming dish on the kitchen table. She looked up and gave me a tired smile. She worked hard to make ends meet, ever since dad left-

"Hey Frankie, I made veggie lasagna." she smiled. I smiled back.

"Cool!" I said and sat down at the table.

"So how was your day?"

After dinner I asked if I could go out with some friends. In truth I was going to follow Hayden's directions to Gerard's house. I had nothing better to do anyways. My mom agreed and told me to be home before eleven since it was a school night. It was sweet being sixteen. I grabbed some money off the desk in my room and threw on a black hoodie and headed out the door.

"Be safe!" my mom called after me. I smiled to myself, I loved her. I walked down the street and stopped at the bus stop. I looked up into the brown night sky and sighed. It looked as though someone kicked dirt at the sky, it was tinted a brownish- pink colour which I despised. I turned my head to see bright headlights making its way slowly towards me. The bus pulled up beside me and stopped. The doors opened and I stepped in. I payed my fee and went straight to the back where I sat down. I opened the envelope and reviewed it. Looks like I had about a twenty minute trip along this route.
