It's No Fun on the Sidelines

The Crazy Aussie

“Please explain to me how I got suckered into coming along. I don’t want to help some moto racing chick learn freestyle,” Todd said, annoyed from the driver’s seat.

“Because you love me,” I said smiling over at him. He just looked over at me with his big eyes sparkling. “And you don’t trust me around Travis,” I teased.

“I do too. Just at first it was… different,” he went on to say darting his eyes back to the road. “But I wouldn’t care if you came by yourself,” he kept going.

“When would Todd Potter turn down a party? Even if it is a high school graduation party,” I said with a small laugh in my voice.

“You know me, babe,” his smile seemed to light up the whole compact space of the rental car.

We drove in a silence for the next few minutes. They only sound came from the stereo mumbling some of Todd’s techno music that annoys the hell out of me. Don’t get me wrong, I love Todd, but there are jut some things I cannot compromise with him on. For instance, music.

I choose to keep my mouth shut this time though. Todd is Todd and I’ve learned to accept him for who he is, which is just gorgeousness… and he is an amazing guy. Our silence held until we got to the place where Travis was holding ‘the biggest graduation party anyone has ever seen’. That phone conversation was still something I couldn’t think about without laughing. When Travis gets really excited, they only thing I can do is laugh.

Once Todd turned the vehicle off, we both turned and held each other’s gaze. He let out a small chuckle before he said anything.

“Guess who showed up?” he smirked, causing his dimples to show intensely.

“Todd, I told you not to invite any of the Mulisha,” I said as my hand made its way up to my forehead.

“I didn’t,” he said with his same expression.

I stopped rubbing my forehead to look at him. That damn smirk. I swear it’s going to get him in trouble soon… by me. He didn’t say anything though. He kept giving me that look whenever I looked at him as we entered the party.

I have to give Travis his props. This wasn’t half bad. A decent cover band was playing a few songs. I was surprised to say that the number of high school students was a little out numbered by Travis’s crazy friends. I am proud to say that I didn’t see any alcohol in anybody’s hands. The substance was replaced with various energy drinks, soda, and water. Good job, Trav. I actually didn’t notice until Todd said something about it.

“There’s no booze,” he said with a sad, pouty face. I have to admit it was pretty darn cute.

“It’s a high school party,” I simply said. His look still remained as he stared back at me.

“Have guess who showed up yet?” he taunted me as I tried to find Travis so I could meet this marvelous Katie that he won’t shut up about.

“Why must you make me guess? If you want me to know, just tell me,” I said getting frustrated with his tactics.

“He’s right there,” he smiled while pointing one of his fingers slightly to the left.

I could not believe the sight in front of me. I turned to Todd with my jaw unable to move.

“You invited that… that… Australian? To a high school graduation party out of all places,” I may have snapped just a little.

“I told him to tone it down a little. Travis was ok with it.”

I just stared at him. He smiled and kissed me on the cheek before going after his Aussie buddy, Blake or Bilko or whatever he goes by. Don’t get me wrong; he’s a nice guy. He’s just a little… too much. That boy shows so much Aussie pride it's not even funny.

As I kept walking, I tried to pick out Travis or at least one of the Nitro guys. They might possibly know what general area he’s in. I honestly thought it would be a lot easier to find Trav. He is a frickin’ giant. He would tower over these people. I had been about three fourths of the way through the house when I heard someone call my name. I turn around and there stood the giant, smiling his usual grin.

“You’re late,” he said as I made my way over to him. “You were supposed to be here before anyone showed up. Now I lost Katie.”

“Well it’s really great to see you too,” I said sarcastically before he pulled me into a hug.

“I thought you brought Todd,” he questioned as I stood beside him, surveying the plethora of people.

“Do you know who he brought?” I asked with my tone raising a few notches.

“Bilko?”

“Yeah. I can’t believe he did that,” I said as I crossed my arms.

“Why?”

“Trust me when I say all Aussies are crazy,” I couldn’t help but let out a small laugh.

I’ve knownBilko Blake just a little longer than I’ve known Todd. Believe me when I say he is crazy! On and off his bike. It doesn’t matter.

“But I encouraged him to invite him,” Travis threw in.

“Why?” I asked a little less than shocked.

“Turns out Miss Katie has a soft spot for the Aussie. I thought maybe he could be just a little help in the training too. If she doesn’t listen to me, she might listen to him.”

“Good thinking, Pastrana,” I teased as a younger girl approached.

“I’m so glad you showed up. This is the girl I’ve been telling you about,” he said, referencing me. I’m thinking I’m about to meet the Katie. “She trains with the Mulisha so you know she’s good,” Travis boasted about me.I wished he had kept going.

“Hey, I’m Molly,” I said as nicely as I could with a smile.

“I’m Katie,” she said with little nervousness to her.

I’m glad to say she warmed up to me rather fast. In no time we were talking about our FMX experiences. We even ventured to female topics: Clothes, makeup… boys. Speaking of boys, about fifteen minutes of us talking, I feel two arms go around my waist. I smiled as I looked to my right and saw Todd’s smiling face. My smile faded when I realized that his other arm wasn’t around me. As I looked to my left, I could only imagine who it could possibly be.

“What’d up, Bilko?” I asked before I even caught sight of him.

“Oh you know, Molls. Just living the dream,” he replied with his famous head snap that he does constantly and a crooked smile.

I shook my head as a small smile came over me. For some reason, I couldn’t help but notice the look Katie was giving Bilko. I thought it was cute though. She’s got a little crush on the Aussie. An idea struck me as I looked between the two. Travis and the Nitro guys may not approve of it too well though. I tugged on Todd’s shoulder so that he would lean forward so that I could whisper in his ear.

“How about I show you where Travis keeps his booze?” I said teasingly, knowing he couldn’t resist.

When I pulled away, he had this huge grin on his face. I know this man too well.

“We’ll be right back,” I said to Katie and Blake as I grabbed onto Todd’s hand.

I chanced a look back at the pair as I led Todd away from the mass of people. Poor Katie. She was looking back at me like ‘what am I supposed to do?’. Blake just had a dumb look on his face like he always does when he sees a pretty girl. I'm so shocked that he hadn't whistled at her yet. I’m pretty confident that the two will be just fine… as long as the Nitro guys keep their distance.
