You and Me Could Write a Bad Romance

Blue Balls

“The 28th!?” I exclaimed with shock in my voice, “Are you fucking kidding me!?” I wailed.

“Hallie, it needs to be done, your brother needs that surgery and that’s as soon as they can get him in.” My Mom said sternly.

“Meaning one of you won’t be at my Wedding.” I pointed out as I moved my index finger between my Mother and Father.

“I’ve chosen to stay home with Aaron.” My Mom sighed stressfully as she glanced at my Brother who was lying on the couch with his broken leg propped up, “You need Daddy there to walk you down the aisle. He needs to be there more than I do.”

Biting the inside of my cheek, I felt like screaming my head off but chose not to as I held back my tears. When my Brother skateboarded off of the roof and didn’t land on the makeshift half pipe like he had planned he would, he ended up not only breaking his leg but crushing his heel on the same leg along with tearing the fuck out of his arm. His arm is stitched up but apparently before they stitched him up, you could see his bone clearly. Now, he needs to have surgery on his heel so they can clean everything out and put a metal plate or something into his foot. I understand that this needs to be done for the safety of his health but this is my Wedding we’re talking about. I want both of my parents there, along with my brother.

“I’ll watch the Wedding when we get the DVD’s back from the company who is filming it.” My mom assured me, “It’s not the end of the world honey, I promise.”

Glancing over at Aaron, he wasn’t even looking at me, in fact he was staring out of the window with a distant look in his eyes, I couldn’t quite place it.

“Great,” I rolled my eyes, “Dipshit jumps off of a fucking roof and I end up not having my Mother at my Wedding because his surgery is scheduled the day before the Wedding and he needs a parent at the hospital with him because he’s a minor.” I shook my head a little bit, “Way to go, Aaron, way to go.”

“Watch your mouth, Hallie.” My Father said sternly, “It’s not his fault …”

“No!” I screamed, “This is his fault!” I snapped as I looked at my Father with disbelief, “He wasn’t even supposed to be over at his friends’ house that night, Dad!” I inhaled deeply trying to control my emotions but couldn’t, “It doesn’t matter anyway, it’s already done and I can’t change it.” I said simply as I walked away towards the staircase.

As I went up stairs, I heard my parents start to talk about I couldn’t hear what they were saying, nor do I want to know, it’ll probably only make me more pissed off than I am. Walking into my bedroom, I grabbed my purse and car keys before heading back downstairs, “I’m leaving,” I said simply as I shoved my feet into my shoes, “I’m going to go find a party or find someone to buy me a bottle of jack but I need a drink.” I announced then left before my parents could stop me or could even protest with me.

This is definitely not how I planned my Wedding to be. Why couldn’t Aaron just wait until after the Wedding to do something stupid. It would’ve made my life easier.

Walking through the front door of the gorgeous upper middle class home, I exhaled tiredly as I closed the door silently.

“Cory?” I heard Nathan say softly as he looked over at my from his reclining chair, “Is Hallie with you?”

“No,” I answered, “Should she be?” I frowned, tilting my head to the side, “I just got back from Lodi, before I left this morning she told me to stop by when I got home.”

“Well, she’s not here. Apparently she went out to look for booze.”

“Why?”

“Because Aaron need to get surgery and the hospital scheduled it for the 28th, it’s the soonest that they could get him in.”

Reaching up to my neck, I rubbed it firmly then nodded, “So, which one of you is staying home with him?”

“April.”

“Ok,” I nodded, “I’ll go find her, she probably is just over at Mindy’s.”

“I called over there, Mindy said she wasn’t.”

I laughed, “Trust me, she didn’t go get drunk by herself, she probably didn’t even go get drunk at all. She’s crying to Mindy because I wasn’t home.” I opened the door back up, “I’ll go get her.” I assured him then I left the house and went right back out to my car.

The drive over to Mindy’s was quick and extremely uneventful. Once I was there, I saw Hallie’s car in the parking lot while I walked up the stairs to their front door. Without a knock, I opened the door up then peeked my head in, “Hello?” I questioned, “I’m looking for an emotional time bomb better known as my fiancé.”

“She’s here,” Jeff mumbled stressfully, “They’re holed up in mine and Mindy’s room, drinking their third bottle of wine and hating on not just Aaron but the entire male race, us included.”

I walked in all the way and shut the door, “That bad?” I wondered.

“You have no idea, I swear, it’s like The View in this apartment, and to make shit worse, they have a new bitch to talk shit with.”

I raised my eyebrow, “Who?”

“Her name is Amy.”

“Amy?” I frowned.

“Yeah, she’s new to town … I don’t know she was supposed to be a bitch because they thought she was hitting on you but in reality it’s not you she wanted it’s one of your friends in your PE class and she thought if she hung out with you she’d get to meet him. Well, I guess Mindy and Hal ran into her when they went to the store and they sorted shit out and she’s their new best friend.”

I pointed down the hall, “Do you think it’s safe?”

“Go ahead, if you want your dick bitten off by vicious females.”

I laughed at him then walked down the small hall of his and Mindy’s two bedroom apartment. Knocking on the bedroom door lightly, I slowly pushed it open and poked my head in, “Hey ladies.”

“Oh fuck off!” Mindy snapped with a wine glass in her hand.

“No,” I said simply, “Hallie, babe can I talk to you?” I wondered as I focused my green eyes on my fiancé.

She turned to me and smiled cutely, “No,” She answered, “Because you’re gonna take me back to my house and I don’t wanna go.” She shrugged then she pointed towards Amy, “Cory, you know Amy, don’t you?” She said before trying to hold a giggle but Mindy let out an obnoxious laugh while Amy laughed lightly.

“Yeah, I do.” I walked in all the way and took the bottle of wine from them, “I’ll take this.” I said simply before walking out of the room.

While walking back into the living room, Jeff glanced at me then laughed, “They have another bottle,” He informed me.

I looked at the bottle in my hand then took a sip, “Oh, cheap red wine … nothing quite like it.” I rolled my eyes. Placing the bottle on the coffee table, I sat down on the couch and turned my eyes to the TV, “I suppose you’re heard about Heidi.”

“Heard about it?” He laughed, “Holy shit that was all they talked about when I took them to dinner. They love her but don’t understand her.” He looked over at me with a worried look, “I’m frightened by the fact that I can successfully hold my own in a conversation like that … I believe I have mastered the art of girl talk and I don’t like it.”

“I stay quiet and don’t listen, that’s what I do.” I admitted as I played with my keys, “Did Hallie tell you that her Mom and Aaron can’t go to the Wedding?”

“Yep,” He nodded as he looked back at the TV, flipping through the channels, “I heard all about it.”

Opening my mouth to say something, Hallie caught my attention as she staggered down the hall, “What are you still doing here?” She questioned me.

“I’m waiting until you’re ready to go home.”

“I’m not going to be ready, I’m staying the night so you might as well just leave.” She demanded as she walked into the kitchen and got into the fridge.

“Jeffrey, where are the strawberries?” Hallie muttered.

“In the drawer, Hal.” Jeff answered.

“Ah-ha, found them.” Hallie said cheerfully then the fridge closed and she came back into the living room, “Go,” She ordered.

I stood up and walked over to her, “Give me a kiss and promise me you won’t drive and I’ll go.”

“I promise I won’t drive,” She assured me then she pressed her soft lips against mine, kissing me lovingly. I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her into my body tightly. Turning her head away, I continued to kiss on her as she tried to think straight enough to talk. “Ok,” She mumbled as I kissed her beneath her ear, “I’ll go home,” She sighed heavily as she gripped the back of my neck with her free hand.

“Yeah?” I muttered against her skin.

“Yes,” She said but it sounded more like a moan as she pulled away from me and put the strawberries down on the counter, “Where’s my stuff?” She questioned then she smiled happily when she found her shoes then her purse that was on the kitchen table.

Then without a single word, she left the apartment. I glanced over at Jeff, “See you later.” I said simply then followed my fiancé out of the apartment and hurried to her before she took the stairs by herself.

“Carry me,” Hallie ordered as she wrapped her arms around my neck, “I don’t want to walk.”

“Lazy ass.” I teased as I scooped her up effortlessly then took the stairs, “Babe, your parents are worried about you.”

“Good,” She growled.

“Why are you being like this?”

“Why was Aaron being like he was?” She challenged, “Because I fucking can.”

“It’s not the end of the world, Hallie.”

“Might as well be,” She grumbled, “If you’re going to keep talking, I’m going back, I don’t want to talk I want sex.”

“Let’s see if you’re still awake by the time we get to your room before we plan for sex.” I laughed as I came up to my car and put her in the passenger seat. Getting in the driver’s seat, I started the engine up and put it in gear before leaving the parking lot.

We weren’t even half way back to her house before Hallie passed out in my car. Once at her house, I entered the home holding her in my arms then I glanced over at Nathan, “She was drinking cheap red wine with Mindy,” I informed him, “She’s fine though.”

He looked at his daughter then nodded, “Thank you for bringing her home.”

I just smiled softly then started up the stairs and into her room. Carefully lying Hallie down on her bed, I tugged her jeans off followed by her shirt and bra before I pulled the covers around her body. Placing a gentle kiss on her forehead I smiled, “I love you, babe.” I informed her, “Sweet dreams.”

“You give me blue balls,” She smirked tiredly before rolling over onto her side.

“Oh, babe … if you had balls, we probably wouldn’t be together.” I laughed.

“You said probably.” She teased with a slurred tone.

I kissed her bare shoulder lightly then left her room and made my way down to the living room to watch late night television with my soon to be Father in law and brother in law. This is going to be a long night.
