Give Love a Try

Chapter Eight

Chapter Eight
Shanes POV
Today was the day. Camp fire Jam started an hour ago and I was up next. I waited patiently at the side if the stage while Alicia, the girl before me, finished her performance. She was amazing on the violin. I smiled as I applauded her. She curtsied shyly and walked passed me off the stage.

“Okay!” Dee La Duke announced! “Wasn’t Alicia amazing!?” This coaxed more applause out of the crowd. “Next up,” she looked over to me. “Shane Grey!”

The crowd applauded as I walked up to the microphone and signalled to the band to start the song. Here we go.

Nate’s POV

I sat in the third row and watched Shane signal to the band.

“This is for you, Nate White,” he winked at me and tapped his foot to the opening beat. I wanted to slap him.

He's an underdog
Lives next door to me
He's always heard you won't amount to anything
And it kills me to watch the agony beyond his eyes
Tragic the way people pass her by
But now I realize

That everyone sees him
But nobody knows him
He screams in him pillow
For a better tomorrow
He hates it
But he takes it
Watch out for that guy
One day he may change the world

He's original
Never trying to fit in
He's got a way to always go
Against the grain
Oh yea!
Someday they'll see how fantastic he really is
I know that last will be the first
The tables gonna turn cause...

everyone sees him
But nobody knows him
he screams in his pillow
For a better tomorrow
he hates it
But he fakes it
Watch out for that guy
One day he may change the world

Maybe he'll be in a movie
Maybe he'll be in a song
Better pay him some attention
Before he's gone

he's an underdog
Yea
he means the world to me
Yea

Everyone sees him
But nobody knows him
he screams in his pillow
For a better tomorrow
he hates it
But he makes it
Watch out for that guy
One day he may change the world

Everyone sees him
But nobody knows him
he screams in his pillow
For a better tomorrow
he hates it
But he makes it
Watch out for that guy
One day he may change the world

The crowd went wild for him; no surprises there. He had a smug smile on his face. He really thought he had me beat. Wasn’t he in for a surprise? I stood up and walked over to the side of the stage and waited for him to get his big head off the stage. He sauntered towards me. I didn't know to be mad, annoyed or flattered.

“Good luck, Nathanial,” he said smirking at me. I simply glared him, before starting to stretch a little.

Once again, the song is adjusted to fit the story.
