Returning to You

Jessica’s POV
The past couple of days had been uneventful in the way of the guys but the house was coming along nicely with the surveyor having come and told me what needed to be done to the structure of the house and I currently had a building inspector working on it for me with his band of men putting the stairs on properly and sorting out one of the foundations as it had slipped a little and that was what was causing the tilt in the house and porch.
A carpenter had shown up as well and I was getting him to make me a banister and he was going to tear down the porch for me and re-do it. The house pretty much looked like a building site right now with tools and wood and all sorts of other materials all over the place and I was still living in my little tent though I did come in to use my nice new shower now.
I was talking to the building inspector because he needed to talk to me about getting scaffolding up and if that was alright with me because I would need to sign about a ton of insurance forms when my phone rang. I looked at the guy apologetically and turned and walked out the back door and pulling the phone from my pocket I opened it up and answered
“hello?” I never look at numbers so I didn’t know who it was
“hey there chica do you wanna go and get some paint and stuff for your place today?” Val spoke and I smiled, we had gotten to be friends with texting and talking the last couple of days. I looked back at the house and bit my lip thinking about it before I answered
“yeah sure we can go but can you meet me at mine in like an hour, I’ve got some stuff to sort out first, I would go to you but I don’t know where you are” Val laughed
“yeah sure, is it alright if the guys come, they are driving me nuts right now and I think getting them out of the studio would help” I grinned to myself and teased
“your kids giving you grief Val?” Val laughed and I heard someone in the background shout asking who she was talking to and Val shouted back that it was none of their business before she spoke to me
“see I can’t get away from them so an hour at your place right?”
“yeah an hour” Val went to say goodbye but I heard a yelp then her screaming and I furrowed my brows wondering what the hell was going on when a smooth deep voice spoke into the phone
“hey Jessica” I smiled, it was Brian
“hey Brian how is it going where you are and what have you done with Val?” Brian chuckled
“Matt kind of threw her over his shoulder and took her back into the studio and everything here is fine really but we are really bored” I giggled
“well that won’t last long because you guys are coming with Val and I to get some paint and stuff” Brian sighed thankfully and muttered
“thank god” I laughed and he spoke again “seriously you have no idea how bored we are right now” I laughed again and said
“I can imagine, well I have to go now, Val knows the details”
“alright see you later” I rang off and then taking a deep breath I put on my nice smile and walked back in to talk to the building inspector.
It was an hour later that I found myself being dragged from my own home by Jimmy who had taken it upon himself to come in and get me saying that I was taking too long. I was in the middle of talks with the carpenter when he came and just dragged me away and I had to shout that I would be back later to the poor man who just stared at us like we were aliens or something.
Jimmy opened the door to his car and all but threw me into the back seat and I ended up sprawled across an innocent Brian who was sat there while Johnny sat in the front seat and Jimmy took the wheel and peeled out of my drive so damn fast colours blurred outside the window. I straightened myself and sat properly in my seat and looking at Brian I smiled and apologised
“sorry but I was thrown at you” I glared at the back of Jimmy’s head and he caught it in the rear view mirror and laughed at me while Johnny shook his head in amusement. Brian looked at me and smiled
“don’t worry I didn’t mind really” I chuckled and turned and faced forwards in my seat. After a moment Brian leaned forwards and slapped the back of Jimmy’s head making him swerve the car and making me scream as well and clutch the seat. Jimmy quickly righted us and I turned and shouted
“what the hell was that!?” Brian shrugged
“he deserved it” my mouth gaped open for a second before I just shook my head and faced forwards not bothering to even try and reason it.
We got to the store and Jimmy all but ran inside with the rest of us following slower behind though as soon as we stepped through the doors the guys all went off in their own directions leaving Val and I stood there with a cart. I looked at her and raised a brow and she rolled her eyes as we started moving towards the paint aisle
“I swear they are not mine I mean Matt yeah sure but the rest, especially Jimmy” we laughed and looked through all of the paint samples on the walls.
I decided to get purple for my room which made Val laugh but when I asked her why she was laughing she wouldn’t tell me so I brushed it off and got some silver because I wanted to some stars here and there on the walls. The living room would be creams and chocolates, the kitchen would have white walls with warm red, orange and white tiles; the dining room was going to be a dark green colour that I found and loved as it would look great with the table I wanted. The bathrooms would be white and I would just accessorize them in different colours while the spare room would be done in blues and I didn’t know what to do with Jasper’s old room but I figured I could turn it into a study or a design room, I loved art and I couldn’t wait to start painting again soon so that I would have a piece of work for every room in the house.
When we finished with all the tins of paint the cart was full so Val and I moved to the check outs and while I was paying I said to Val
“do you want to round up the guys?” Val groaned
“no I don’t! This place is huge how am I going to find them?” I looked at her considerating a moment before I turned to the nice guy serving me and smiling, I could see him gulp as I did so and my grin got slightly wider. Leaning against the counter I folded my arms and asked
“do you mind if I borrow your microphone?” the guy stuttered out
“i-I I’m not supposed to let customers near it” I pouted and his eyes went to my mouth as I said sweetly
“it will only be one little announcement” I fluttered my eyelashes and the guy nodded and without taking his eyes from me he handed me the device and I smiled brightly at him before bringing it to my mouth and flicking the on switch and I spoke
“alright guys you have 1 minute to get to the front of the store or Val and I are leaving without you, I can hot wire cars just to let you know” I turned off the switch and handed the guy the microphone again before I looked at Val who was laughing into her hands and grinned like a Cheshire cat as I heard a shout from the store somewhere and I pushed the cart out the doors as Val followed and stood there waiting for the guys to come out.
The guys all emerged running out into the lot and over to their cars making sure Jimmy and Matt’s cars were still there and Val and I laughed before she called
“we’re over here guys!” they turned and saw us and Matt jogged over and smiling he asked
“need a hand with that?” I nodded and he took the cart and pushed it towards the cars and the guys loaded my tins in and then we set off back to my place.
Once we got there I got out of the car and walked over to the garage and opened it up revealing my pride, my car, and called over my shoulder
“ok guys bring the paint in here just don’t scratch the car” they all nodded and soon we had everything loaded into the garage and I closed and locked it again and turned to the guys and smiled
“well thanks for that, what are you guys doing now?” I asked and they groaned as did Val who muttered
“back to the studio” I smiled slightly
“oh come on it can’t be as bad as that surely?” Val shot me a glare and the guys shook their heads like I was a child that didn’t know something and Brian offered
“come with us and see for yourself?” I cocked my head as I thought about it before I nodded
“yeah sure why not” he grinned and we all piled back in to the cars and set off for the studio.
