You Leave Me Breathless

Job

[Trinity]

“I swear, if we don’t get even a freaking interview at the next bar, I’m going to go home and drink until I puke,” I whined

It was the next day, Friday, in the afternoon, and so far we’d spent 3 hours walking around the local bars to look for jobs. But out of all the ones we’d been to, none of them had vacancies. Not one. I was getting frustrated, as was Peyton.

“Okay, fine. We’ll try that bar over the road, and quit for the day if they have no vacancies,” Peyton suggested

“Thank fuck,” I sighed happily

We quickly crossed the road, standing outside the bar called ‘Blue Lagoon’. That’s a nice cocktail. Oh my gosh – this bar is actually advertising vacancies. Peyton squealed and grabbed my hand, dragging me through the front doors. There was one man standing behind the bar, stacking glasses. He turned to face us, an amused look on his face.

“Job vacancies?” he asked, raising an eyebrow

“Two, if they’re going,” I nodded, smiling

This guy, to be it plainly, was gorgeous. Over 6ft tall, tan skin, short brown hair, grey eyes and bulging muscles. And a killer smile.

“I’ll go get the boss. Wait there,” he nodded

We nodded eagerly, sitting down on a couple of bar stools as he went out the back.

“I really hope we get this job. Even if it is just for him,” Peyton giggled softly

Then two women walked out behind the bar, freezing when they saw us.

“Oh my freaking God,” one of them whispered

I lifted me head, staring at them. One had short brown hair with a punk-style blonde Mohawk, and the other had shoulder-length blonde hair and emo-style glasses.

“Yeah?” I asked, raising an eyebrow

“Trinity and Peyton Hayes!” the blonde gasped

“Um, yeah? How do you know us?” Peyton asked, confused

“Do you remember two lesbian sophomores from LT High?” the brunette smirked

“Woah...Tori and Kim?” I said, surprised

The two women nodded and ran round the front of the bar, engulfing us in hugs. We hugged back, absolutely shocked. This world was wayyy too small. They’d changed so much from the waif-like girls we’d known back in high school.

“Are you the two that Drew said wanted a job here?” Kim asked, grinning

“That was his name?” Peyton smirked, “he’s hot,”

“Drew’s my older brother,” Tori said proudly

“The one that taught you to fight? Awesome! So why are you two working in a bar all the way in New Jersey? Are you still together?” I grinned

“Well we finished school last summer and I knew I didn’t want to go to college. Kim does day classes in photography in a local college. Drew got a job here two years ago when it opened, and got both of us a job. We’re low on staff, because one girl called Sarah just left to move abroad, and the manager Connor is behind in his paperwork,” Tori smiled

“And no, we’re not together any more. Although we still love each other, we decided we’re too young to stick to one person. Maybe one day we’ll get back together, but right now we’re just looking for fun,” Kim added, nudging Tori with her hip

“Aww that’s sweet,” Peyton gushed

“What have you two been doing for the last three years? All anyone knew is that you two disappeared around the same time that Tiffany Olivers got put in hospital and those pictures of Gaskarth and Merrick spread!” Tori exclaimed, her eyes glinting with mischief

“We went on a 3 year roadtrip basically. Just working in bars around the country. It’s been great. We’re just looking for something a little more than a few weeks here though. It’s not a bad place,” I explained

“Well I reckon you’ll get the jobs straight away. Especially when we tell Drew who you are,” Kim grinned

“Why would that make a difference?” Peyton asked, confused

“Because Drew is soooo overprotective of me – I told him about all the times you two helped us out in high school. He’s always wanted to meet the girls that watched out for us,” Tori smirked

Then we heard voices coming, and Tori and Kim squealed.

“DREW!!” Tori yelled

“Yeah Tor?” Drew smiled, walking into the bar area with a blonde man behind him

“This is Trinity and Peyton Hayes. The girls from high school that we told you about,” Tori said excitedly

“You’re the girls that protected my baby sis?” Drew said, shocked

“Yeah,” we nodded proudly

“They have to get the jobs – if nothing other than for the fact they can kick ass in a fight,” Drew said to the blonde man, grinning wildly

The blonde man walked out from behind the bar to in front of us. Another gorgeous man. Our lucky day.

“I’m Connor Bishop, owner and manager of this bar. How old are you two?” he asked

“I’m 21, and Peyton’s 20,” I said honestly

“21 next month though,” Peyton added

“How much bar work experience have you had?” Connor asked

“Three years worth,” I replied with a smile

“How much are you willing to work?” Connor continued

“As much as required. We prefer two days off a week if possible though,” Peyton replied, also with a smile

“Well we normally give three days off a week anyway, so that’s good. Well we don’t require anything else apart from a trial shift. When can you do that?” Connor smiled

“Whenever you want,” I shrugged

“How does tonight sound? Friday’s are usually busy here – it’ll be good to see how well you can handle that kind of pressure,” Connor suggested

“That’s fine for us,” Peyton nodded, gripping my hand tightly in excitement

“Great! Well come back here at 6, and I’ll have one of these three lazy sods show you around. We have a guy doing a trial shift tonight too, so the three of you can switch between serving and restocking glasses and alcohol. Your shift will start at 8, carrying on till 2am. Tori, Kim, I’ll leave it to you to inform Trinity and Peyton of the dress code,” Connor nodded

“Awesome!” Peyton grinned

“Oh, Drew, there’s a dozen cases of lager out the back, could you bring them in?” Connor asked, starting to walk back towards where he’d come from

“Sure thing,” Drew nodded, following his boss

Tori and Kim squealed, clapping their hands together excitedly.

“Told you you’d get the jobs!” Kim said happily

“All we have to wear are casual clothes. Wear something...edgy but not slutty. Alluring but not whorish. It doesn’t matter exactly what. And heels are at your own peril,” Tori grinned

“I think we can handle that,” I nodded, grinning too

“See you tonight!” Peyton whooped

We hugged the girls goodbye, linking arms as we walked out of the bar.

“Fucking finally!” I groaned happily

“I say we go shopping to celebrate,” Peyton grinned

“Works for me!” I laughed

[Peyton]

I was just putting the finishing touches to my outfit for our trial shift. I was wearing a one-shoulder black top, tight as a bitch, and the shortest white shorts I owned. Complete with big white hoop earrings and white 6-inch stilettos, all I needed was some sort of accessory.

“Trin, did you ever buy that white studded bracelet?” I called

“Yeaah, it should be in my jewellery box somewhere,” Trinity called from her bathroom

I grinned and ran into her bedroom, and opened the box. Perfect. Slipping the bracelet on, I pulled my hair up into a high ponytail, leaving my bangs out. I’m ready. And then the bathroom door opened. I smirked at Trinity’s outfit; a tight blue-sequined tank top, a short black skirt with a bow on, blue heels, black hoops and a black leather cuff bracelet.

“Ready?” I said excitedly

“One last thing,” Trinity nodded

My eyes widened as she pulled out Zack’s necklace and slipped it on. You know, the blue sapphire pendant. I honestly can’t believe she’s wearing it.

“Um, Trin...”

“Just don’t, Pey. I have it on me for every first shift for good luck; you just never notice. For some reason it makes me feel better. And tonight it matches my outfit,” Trinity snapped

I held my hands up in surrender, sadly watching her pull her hair up into a messy bun. When she was done, I grabbed my house keys and we left, walking the 10 minutes to work, entering through the back door.

“Perfect timing! Connor will love this,” Drew greeted us

Trinity just nodded, making Drew hold my arm and keep me back a bit while she walked out the front.

“Is she okay?” he frowned

“Reminiscing about an ex. Don’t worry – she’ll be back to normal once she gets behind the bar,” I assured him

“Okay then, if you’re sure. No exes you want to reminisce about?” Drew drawled

“Nope,” I said with a slight seductive edge

“That’s what I like to hear,” Drew smirked

Drew grabbed my hips, pulling me firmly against his body, our hips crashing. I bit my bottom lip out of desire, sliding my hands up his muscled chest. Then we heard footsteps coming, so I stepped back, relaxing into an easy smile. Tori popped her head round, smiling when she saw us.

“Why weren’t you up there with Trinity?” she asked cheerfully

“We were just talking about her. Drew was worried why she was frowning when she came in. Is she okay now?” I asked calmly

“Yeah she perked up pretty quickly. The other new guy came in through the front door, so Kim and I are ready to show you around,” Tori grinned

“Awesome. See you later Drew,” I waved, winking

He smirked softly. Tori linked arms with me, directing me to behind the bar.

“Just so you know, the only person that cares about inter-staff relationships, whether it’s dating or fucking, is Connor. So as long he as he doesn’t see you, you’ll be fine,” Tori whispered innocently

“That obvious were we?” I snorted

“Drew’s a sex-addict – I know that look in his eyes,” Tori snickered

“Works for me,” I smirked

Tori just laughed again, rolling her eyes as she opened a door. It led to behind the bar, where Kim, Trinity and a short guy were standing. When I say short, I mean the same height as me in 6 inch heels. So a lot taller than Trinity and I normally, but short for guys in general. He wasn’t bad looking actually. Chiselled cheekbones, messy brown hair, piercing blue eyes and muscles bulging through a tight white t-shirt.

“Hi, I’m Matt. Matt Crocombe,” he said softly

Okay, change not bad to gorrrgeous. His voice had more seduction than anything I’ve ever heard before. Trinity snickered, knowing what I was thinking.

“Peyton Hayes,” I nodded, keeping my lips in a soft smile

“Great! Let’s start the tour!” Tori said enthusiastically

I linked arms with Trinity as Tori lead us back out, Kim staying behind the bar just in case.

“So how far did you get with Drew?” Trinity murmured

“He pulled me against his body and I ran my hands up his chest. That’s it. He technically only stopped me to ask if you were okay,” I pointed out

“Glad to be of service. Remember the rule of the apartment, though,” Trinity smirked

“Warn the other so they can put music on,” I chuckled

“Damn right. Now let’s start paying attention,” Trinity said with a confident smile

I frowned slightly as her fingers drifted to the necklace she wore, but I shook my head. As much as I respected her feelings, I really hope Trinity finds someone new here. She was always the one (out of the two of us) that held onto feelings, because it takes her so long to let them out in the first place. All I can hope is that someone will take her heart for real. Trinity smiled at me, and I smiled back. This place could be good for us. Really good.
