H.B. and Gypsy

You Make Me Do That.

“Boys!” My mom yelled from downstairs.

I quickly pull away from Landon and groan. Inturrupt us now? For the past hour, we have been sprawled across my bed, doing things my mom would, more than likely, not want to see.

“What!” I yell back at her. I sighed and looked at a blushing Landon under me with a soft smile.

“Your dad picked up some Ice cream if you want it!”

I looked at Landon and he rolled his eyes with a giggle, knowing I couldn’t quite resist free sugar. “As much as I love this,” I run my finger down his cheek,” I could really use some of that Ice cream.” I laugh. He stares at me, contemplating for a moment, and finally he rolls his eyes.

“M-maybe” He huffs with a joking smile.

“How about I give you about ten more minutes and then we get fat off of frozen treats?” I smile.

“P-perfect.”

I tried my best to make Landon look like he wasn’t just attacked by some kind of wild animal, but I think I may have failed.

“I think I damaged you.” I laugh and Landon turns to the mirror quickly.

“Ever B-Brenin!” He scolds and blushes into his reflection.

“What?” I squeak out.

“Your M-Mom will look a-at me and know a-about us in a matter o-of two seconds!” He points to his neck. “It l-looks like I l-lost a fight t-to fucking l-leaches!”

I made my way over to him, trying to hide my smile.

“Oh, come on, its not tha-oh…” upon closer inspection, I realize he’s right.

“E-e…” He whines and covers his neck with his hands. “How a-am I going t-to go d-downstairs now?”

“Come here, love.” I grab his hand and drag him to my closet. “Wear this.” I handed him my black scarf and he raised his eyebows.

“You d-don’t think th-they’ll be s-suspicious?” He asks, taking it from my hands.

I shrug my shoulders. “No, they’ll be watching T.v. in the Livingroom anyways.” I smile.

“O-ok.” He sighs and wraps it around his neck. “I s-swear, E, If sh-she says anything…” He blushes and I pull him into a hug with a laugh.

“Landon.” I look at him.”She wont notice, I promise.”

We walked down stairs and into the kitchen, seeing the two flavors of ice cream on the table.

Cookies n’ Cream and Sherbert.

“Shit, thats tough…”

“Y-yeah…but Im g-gonna have t-to go w-with Cookies n’ C-cream.” Landon smiles.

“I was kind of leaning towards Sherbert, actually.” I comment and pick up one of the bowls my mom set out for us. “Im in more of a fruity mood.” I comment with a smile. Landon lets out a laugh and I look at him.

What was so funny?

“What?” I ask, scooping some sherbert into my bowl.

“It o-obvious you’re i-in more of a fruity m-mood, Ever…” Landon giggles and points to his scarf that was currently hiding my assult on him earlier.

“Oh, shut it.” I laugh and hand him his bowl and a spoon. “Its not my fault. You make me do that.”

“M-me?!” He raises his eyebrows. “What d-did I do t-to make y-you do that?”

“Oh, come on!” I smile at him and raise my arms. “Look at you!”

“I d-don’t know wh-what you’re talking a-about.” He states matter-of–factly.

“Oh, sweet Landon.” I giggle and poke him. “Its that.”

“Im s-still lost.”

“You have absolutely no clue how perfect you are.” I tell him.

“Y-yeah, right…” He blushes and hides his face.

“Its true.Im not lying. I mean, how could I? Look at your neck.” I smile and take his hand, pulling him to the kitchen table.

“You’re c-crazy.” He grins to himself.

“You only fuel the flame, sugar.” I grin.

He rolls his eyes and swirls his spoon around in his ice cream.

“I could s-say the same a-about y-you.” He smiles.

“Now that is a lie.” I raise my eyebrows at him.

“Defintely n-not.”

“Landon, it defies the laws of physics for me to come even remotely close to your level of…beauty?” I laugh.

“You’re w-wrong. If o-only you s-saw my j-journal…” Landon sighs with a smile.

“What do you mean?”

“I w-would rant about h-how hot y-you are…” He laughs and looks down at his bowl.

“Holy shit, I have to see it!” I widen my yes.

“A-are you k-kidding, e?” He blushes.

“No, im not…” I grin. He lets out a groan.

“Its e-embarrassing.” He holds his face in his hands. “I s-sound like a l-lovestruck 13 year o-old.”

“You havent seen my poems.” I laugh.

“You h-have poems a-about me?” Landons gold eyes light up.

“Dozens.” I feel my face go red and I stand up to take my bowl to the sink. Landon follows.

“Well, I-I’ll show you my j-journal if you show m-me a p-poem…” Landon whispers. I turn to him and rest against the counter.

“Fine.”
_________________________________________________________________________

“If you laugh, Im breaking up with you.” I whisper to him and blush.

“D-don’t even j-joke about th-that, E….” Landon says under his breath. “ And I would n-never laugh at your w-writing.”

I sigh and hand him one poem. It was one that I wrote the first week I met him.

“Sure, babe. Wait till you read it. Its retarded.”

“We’ll s-see about that.” He smiles and begins to read it.

As I watched his eyes scan over the paper, I began to feel more and more anxious. What if he realizes that I’m a complete loser and cant write for shit? Maybe It’ll make me less attractive to him if I have a shitty way of expressing myself…oh god.

I went and sat at my desk as he read it, waiting while my cheeks grew warmer and warmer with embarrassment. After about 5 minutes, I began to worry. The poem is really short, what is taking him so long? I look over at him and he was staring intently at the paper…He looked so confused.

Great.

I walked over to him and sat down. “I told you. Ill take it back now…” I say, trying to somehow diguise my disappointment. I reached over and tried to take it from his hands.

“N-no!” He snatches it away and keeps staring at it.

“What? Why?” I look at him, “By the look on your face, you hated it.”

“I l-love it, E…” He whispered to me. “I h-had no I-idea that…you f-felt this w-way.” He takes a deep breath and finally folds it back up.

“You did? You liked it?” I question with raised eyebrows.

“No, I l-loved it.” He smiled and kissed my cheek. “When d-did you write th-this?”

“That’s where it gets kind of weird…I wrote it about 4 days after meeting you.” I say to my mattress, hoping he heard me.

F-four days?” He blinks in disbelief, “You…f-felt like th-this after f-four days?” He head the note tight in his hands, staring at the folded piece of paper.

“I…I know its weird, but I couldn’t fucking help it.” I sighed.”Trust me, I tried.”

He slipped his hand into mine. “Its n-nothing to be e-embarrassed about, E-Ever.”

I smile at him.

“W-wait till you s-see my journal…” He giggles and covers his face in embarrassment.

“Im so excited.” I smile and stand up with him.

“Can I-I keep this?” Landon asks me, holding up my folded up poem.

“Sure, at least I don’t have to look at it anymore.”

We got some of my things together and headed downstairs before going over Landons house.

“I c-cant believe I a-agreed to this.” He groans as we walk up to my front door.

“No backing out now, Im afraid.” I grin at him.

“Where are you going?” My moms voice chimes in out of nowhere. Me and Landon both turn around quickly and see her standing in the hallway wearing her robe.

“I was gonna stay at Landons’ tonight.” I tell her. Since when has she cared where I was going?

“Oh, ok...Goodnight Boys.” She says distantly and walks upstairs.

“Gnight.” I comment and rush me and Landon out the door.

_______________________________________________________________________

“Sn-snow! Come here, g-girl!” Landon yells to her once we get in his room. Snow runs into Landons room and makes herself comfortable on Landons bed.

“H-hey, silly, get o-off there…” He mumbles to her, shooing her off onto her bed into the corner.

“I want a dog…” I comment.

“Why d-don’t you get o-one?” Landon asks me.

“Like my dad would let me…he doesn’t think I can handle the responsibility.”

“Th-that’s ridiculous. Y-you can more than h-handle it. I think y-you’d be a g-great owner.” He retorts.

“Thanks, but try convince my father that.”

Landon sighed and walked over to his desk where he kept his journal. He picked it up and stared at it. He is just as embarrassed as I was…I could tell. I saw him hold it in his hands, contemplating, when finally he turned around and made his way back to his bed, sitting next to me with a timid glance.. I could practically hear the thoughts going through his head.

“Hand it over.” I smile at him.

“Do I r-really have t-to?” He pouts.

“Of course you do.” I gasp, “I showed you my embarrassing poem about you.”

He sighed and began to play with the lock on the journal that was currently keeping all of his secret words from me. Stupid lock.

“But at l-least you did it i-in a r-romantic kind of w-way. I was j-just gushing a-about you...” He whispers.

“A poem is more gushy than anything, love. Its ok, just let me see.”

“D-damn it, fine.” He blushes. “But I’m g-going to choose what p-page you get to r-read. Deal?” He tells me sternly, trying to hide the fear in his voice.

“Ok, ok…” I laugh an put my arms up in surrender.

He all the sudden opens his locket and slips his finger underneath a picture hidden inside. Right as his thumb slipped out, a little key came with it. Landon got his journal open and began to quickly scan through it. Amongst the many entries he appeared to have, he commented and mumbled to himself.

“O-oh god…d-definitely not that…” he mumbled and kept scanning.

“I a-am ridiculous…” He laughs to himself and puts his hands on his cheeks in embarrassment.

He kept looking through it for another couple minutes when finally he comes across a page that he seems to like. I see his eyes get softer and finally he looks up at me. “R-ready?”

“As Ill ever be.” I smile. He timidly hands me his journal and points to a page.

“Th-that one. It’s the f-first time I-I ever saw y-you.” He manages to say amongst his hands blocking his face while I read it.

I nodded and carefully took the journal from him. As soon as I began to read, I couldn’t help but let a smile start to form on the side of my lips. I could hear his voice inside my head:

I was hoping that when I moved to this house I wouldn’t have to worry about dealing with people…that I wouldn’t have to handle anymore fake friends and guilty crushes, but the second I saw that gorgeous fucking kid walking down his stairs, I knew there was absolutely no chance of me not liking him.

The first thing I noticed was how sleepy he looked. His dark hair was messy and thrown around his face, making his skin look snowy and soft. It was kind of funny…I don’t think he wanted to be up that early.

The second thing I noticed was his eye color. Probably one of the best things about him. They are greenish gold. Perfect.

The third and most important thing I noticed was that when he looked at me, he had absolutely no trace of judgment, scrutiny, or disgust. He just looked at me like I was any human being. That felt amazing.

He eventually sat down and joined the conversation with our mom’s. The whole time I felt like he was observing me or something and it felt kind of strange because I didn’t feel like he was doing it to be rude…he looked genuinly curious about me.

But, of course, in the real world I would have said hi to him and introduced myself…but I couldn’t, seeing that I talked with a goddamn notepad. The second I remembered “hey im not like everyone else, im a fucking freak” kind of put in in perspective for me: I would probably never see this guy again. Who would be friends with someone who doesn’t even talk? Nobody.

It didn’t help that I have developed a crush on him either. That’s another thing that is basically making it impossible for me to have any sort of friendship with him. Im gay.

I don’t talk…and I like guys. Can it get any fucking worse?

Anyways, I ended up having to go to my appointment and that’s when his mom invited us to a bar-b-q. I was excited but kind of disenchanted at the same time.

I’m gonna have to face this perfect boy again and I cant talk to him…let alone ever be friends. I totally started to cry like an idiot as we were leaving. And I think, for one second, I saw concern in his eyes. His beautiful fucking eyes.

I was going to fall for this guy in no time.

P.s. His name is “Ever.” Can that get any sexier? I don’t think so. God, this kid is going to ruin me.

-L

I slowly lift my head and look at my boyfriend. I didn’t know what to say to him. I couldn’t help but feel so bad for him…the fact that he has happy I wasn’t judging him or critsizing him. Why would anyone ever do that to him? He was such an angel.

Landon looked up at me and whispered “Are y-you finished?”

I closed the journal and set it down on his bedside table. I scoot closer to him and hold his face in my hands with a soft smile, observing his expression.

“E-e?” He barley managed to say as he looked at me.

I didn’t say anything. I just ran my thumb down his cheek and leaned in, kissing him over and over again. I moved my hands to his waist, bringing him closer to me and I felt him smile.

I wanted to show him how much I loved him.

Landon ran his hand through my hair and giggled against my lips. “W-what is th-this for, e-ever?” He mumbled into a kiss.

I pulled away and looked at him with a smile. “This is because I love you so, so much.”

He didn’t have time to respond before I began kissing him again, pulling him into my lap, his legs on either side of my thighs.

Amongst all this, we didn’t hear someone walking up the stairs, down the hallway, and eventually…opening Landons door.

“Ever, are you staying for-Oh dear!” Mrs Lee laughed and covered her eyes.

Me and landon instantly pulled away, our mouths making a popping sound, and stared at the door in terror. “O-oh god…” Landon blushed and hid his face in my neck.

“Yes, Mrs.Lee…” I let out a laugh, “I will be staying for the night.” Landon was still on my lap, hiding for his dear life.

“Ok.” She smiles, taking her hand away from her face. “Is it ok to look now?”

“Yes.” I laugh. She looks at us and shook her head.

“Comfy, honey?” She asked Landon with a amused smile.

Landon doesn’t even take his face from my neck and he answers. “Yes. V-very. Now would y-you let u-us continue p-please?”

I giggle and run my hand down his back rolling my eyes so only Mrs.Lee could see. He was so shy, it was hilarious and adorable. Mrs.Lee doesn’t care what we do. He knows that.

“Alrighty.” She grins. “Ill be downstairs.” She goes to leave but turns to me one last time, she mouthed to me the words:His Ear. Pointing to her own ear in the process.

I furrow my brows and silently ask her what she meant. She just winked at me and shut the door.

I took it as some kind of a hint and moved my lips down to Landons ear as he hid into my shoulder. I kissed it once and Landon shuttered.

So, that’s what she meant.

I grinned to myself and kissed it a second time, making Landon groan.

Oh.

“H-how did you know th-that I have s-sensitive ears?” He whispers into my shoulder.

Thank you, Mrs.Lee.

“Lets just say I know some people who know things.” I smile and moved to his ear lobe.

“S-sure.” He giggled and wrapped his arms around my neck.

“Oh, and for the record…” I say and look right at him, “ I thought your journal entry was adorable and perfect. Although, I wouldn’t say that I have good eyes.”

“Trust m-me, you d-do.” He raises his eyebrows. “You sh-should give y-yourself more c-credit.”

“Well, You hate your stutter and I think it’s the cutest thing about you.” I comment. “Credit me that” I laughed.

“You l-like it?” He whispered, blushing.

“Lets put it this way: Just hearing you talk makes me love you more.”

“R-really? It d-doesn’t weird you o-out?”

“Not a chance.” I smile.

“You r-really are o-one of a k-kind…” He smiles and kisses me.

“Me? No. That would be you.”

“N-nope.”

“I think so.”

“I th-think not.”

“Really, Landon.” I laugh.

“Really, E-ever!” He plays along.

Right then Snow barks at us. “Fine, f-fine we’ll s-stop…” Landon laughs at her.

She lays back down and goes back to sleep. “We just annoyed your dog.” I giggled.

“She is q-quite the d-diva…” He smiles.

If nights like these are what I have to look forward to…then, my life Is turning out a little better than expected.

“Hey E-ever?” Landon speaks up.

“Mhm?”

He looks down for a second and then climbs off me, heading towards his closet. When he got there he finally looked back at me with a shy smile on his face.

“I want t-to show you s-something.”
