Love Makes Blind

Brothers.

“I’m so glad you all could come.” Melinda and Paul greeted Elia, Mirella and Valeira.
The three women had just arrived, and were ushered inside from the pouring rain by Paul.
He took Elia’s coat and hung it on a hanger. The three grownups walked into the kitchen, already chatting and laughing.

You look beautiful.” Paul said and hugged Elia.
She blushed and smiled. “Thank you.”
Paul pulled away slightly and looked her over. He stopped at her neck. Paul frowned before he unclasped the necklace she was wearing and put it at the side table.
“What did you do that for?” Elia asked in confusion.
Paul shrugged. “I don’t like vampires.”
Elia laughed and rested her head against his chest. “I bet you don’t.”

“Are you two lovebirds coming? The food is ready.” Melinda called from the kitchen.
Paul grabbed Elia’s hand and walked into the kitchen. Paul had set the table earlier. Elis sat down beside Paul, but when he let go of her hand, she was quick to grab it again under the table.

“Melinda! You have to come with me and Mirella to Seattle tonight!” Valeira suddenly exclaimed.
Melinda was a little set back by the Italian woman’s outburst, but none the less, she smiled and nodded. “That would be nice, what are you doing in Seattle?”
“There are some fashion shows, but mostly shopping. We have booked a hotel suit for the rest of the week.” Mirella answered, her voice calmer then her sister-in-law’s.
“I would love to. It’s been ages since I left La Push. Oh, but is it okay for you two?” Melinda looked at her son and the beautiful girl he sat next to.
Paul nodded. “We don’t have anything special planned, but I’m sure we’ll be just fine.”
Elia smiled and took a bite out of her steak.
“Then it’s settled!” Valeira grinned.

The five of them continued to eat and chat. Elia smiled the whole time, happy that her mother went along with Paul’s.
Paul looked at the clock and stood up. “We have to leave now if we’re going to reach the movies.”
“Have a fun trip if I don’t meet you before you leave.” Elia smiled.
“And you two behave while we’re gone!” Mirella said before they walked out in the hallway to get their jackets.
Elia blushed, and Paul laughed.

Paul opened up the front door and rushed Elia through the rain to his mother's car. Being the gentleman he had become over the last few days, he opened the door for her and helped her in, with a hand on her head to make sure she didn’t bump her head.
“Did I mention you look beautiful tonight?” Paul asked as he started the car and pulled out of the drive way.
Elia laughed. “I do believe so.”
“Well, you do, so I might mention it later on as well.” Paul placed his hand on Elia’s knee.
Elia blushed slightly.

“You are blushing a lot today.” Paul stated.
“I know, I’m sorry.” Elia mumbled and put her hands over her face.
Paul lifted his hand and removed Elia’s from her face before he let his finger run down her cheek and over her lower lip.
“It suits you. Please don’t hide your face for me.” Paul put his hand back on her knee and concentrated on the road again.
“I love- spending time with you Paul.” Elia almost told Paul she loved him, but she caught herself in it before the damage had been done.
“Good, ‘cause I doubt you’ll get rid of me.” Paul laughed.

They were silent for a few minutes.
“It’s a long ride, so a long story would be great now.” Paul said out of the blue.
“What do you mean?” Elia wondered.
“You can tell me about your friends in Italy.”

Elia laughed. “Okay, so I tell you about all the boys.”
“All the boys?” Paul asked shocked. When he looked over at Elia, he started wondering if she was as innocent as she looked.
Elia laughed harder. “No, no! Not like that!” she put her hands up. “There are some girls too!”
“What?” Paul asked his voice shoving nothing but shock.
Elia sighed. “If you stop interrupting, I’ll explain. It’s very complicated.”
“Go on.” Paul nodded.

“You see, I have problems with becoming friends with girls. Because, they rarly bother to get to know me since I’m blind. But I’m very close to two of my cousins, Sienna and Cara, and my father's youngest sister, Leona. They are great. Then there is Gina, I’ve been friends with her since forever. My mom and her mom are best friends.
“But all my best friends are boys. Yeah I know how that sounds. There are Matteo, he’s the one I mentioned before, but there are also; Dino, Angelo, Mario, Luca, Michael and Leonardo. They are like my gang or something. When I’m in Italy, I spend most of my time with them, and they always look after me and never let anything happen to me.
“I haven’t seen them in five years, but we talk on the phone, and Darin helps me send them e-mails, and they send me mails. I have seven brothers, eight with Darin.”

Paul laughed when Elia was done.
“What?” She asked.
“Do all Italian names end on ‘o’?” Paul asked between laughs.
Elia couldn’t help but laugh to. “You’re right, but I use nicknames on them. Matt, Leo, Luc and Di. There aren’t any nicknames for Angelo and Mario though.”

Elia continued to tell Paul about her friends. It felt good talk about them, but it made her miss them more. Paul listened and asked questions on the right places, and cheered Elia up when she became silent in thought.

“So, what movie do you want to see?” Paul asked Elia when they arrived at the movie theaters
“I’ve heard the new ‘Alice in Wonderland’ film is good.” Elia smiled as she smelled the scent of freshly popped popcorn.
“Then ‘Alice in Wonderland’ it is. It’s not like I’m going to pay any attention to the film anyways.” Paul put an arm around Elia’s shoulders as they stood in line to buy tickets and popcorn.
“And what are you planning to do in the movie?” Elia asked and raised a brow.
“I’m going to be way to busy kissing you.” Paul smirked and kissed Elia quickly.
Elia laughed. “In your dreams, Paul.”
“Of course,” Paul grinned and Elia smacked his arm. “but when the lights go off and the film begins, you won’t be able to resist me.”
Elia blushed deeply and turned away. Paul chuckled and pulled her closer.

Paul bought the tickets and popcorn and they walked into the theater.
The film started and Elia tried to hear what was happening. Out of the blue, Paul yawned, stretched his arms and his right one landed coincidentally over Elia’s shoulders.
Elia laughed quietly and shoved his arm down. “That must be the oldest trick in the book.” She whispered.

Paul returned the laughter before he decided he didn’t want to wait more. The theater was almost empty, so he pulled Elia up from her seat and onto his lap. He crashed his lips against hers.
Elia pulled away with a shocked look on her face. “What are you doing?” she hissed.
Kissing you.” Paul whispered back before he kissed her again.

He stroked his tongue over her lower lip, but Elia sat completely still in his arms, her lips only a thin streak.
Paul groaned silently and pulled away. “Please Elia?
Elia took Paul’s head between her hands. She placed her mouth softly over his and kissed him slowly. Paul opened his mouth with hopes for her doing the same. His wish was granted; Elia parted her lips and let Paul slip his tongue in her mouth. Paul smiled into the kiss.

They continued that way for the rest of the movie, Elia completely forgot the movie she wanted to hear.
“What did you think about the movie?” Paul asked as they walked hand in hand out to the car.
“What movie?” Elia giggled.

“My lips are sore!” she whined and Paul laughed and helped her into the car.
“Get used to it.” Paul said and laughed again.
“Gosh, you are so full of yourself.” Elia muttered.
Paul bent over and kissed her again. “And that’s what you like about me.”
Elia only smiled and shook her head.

Paul loved the way Elia made him feel.
Paul loved Elia for who she was, but he also loved her for the person he was when he was around her.

"You look beautiful, by the way." Paul smiled lovingly at Elia and grabbed er hand.
