I Don't Like This Ending

Chapter 7

“Are you ready for an All-Time-Low-athon?!” She screamed through the microphone.

She pulled the red microphone to my face, smirking at me. “I know you may have a bit of difficulty knowing how it works and all; what you do is sing into it,” She told me; saying it slowly as though I was a retard.

I faked a laugh and watched as her smirk changed into her broad grin.

“So then,” she began. “You a fan of All Time Low?”

“A few of their songs are okay,” I replied.

“Well I love them. We shall start off with a bit of an up tempo number.” She turned to the screen, “and a one, a two, a one-two-three-four,” she giggled, pulling a few Elvis moves.

I joined in and soon we were singing.

I got your picture
I'm coming with you
Dear Maria, count me in
There's a story at the bottom of this bottle
And I'm the pen

I did a double take at her voice and watched as she started dancing on the spot. She started doing some stupid dance moves, not caring about looking good, forcing me to join in.

When the lights go off
I wanna watch the way you
Take the stage by storm
The way you wrap those boys around your finger
Go on and play the leader
'Cause you know it's what you're good at
The low road for the fast track
Make every second last

'Cause I got your picture
I'm coming with you
Dear Maria, count me in
There's a story at the bottom of this bottle
And I'm the pen
Make it count when I'm the one
Who's selling you out
'Cause it feels like stealing hearts
Calling your name from the crowd

Then in the field you'll be the show girl of the home team
I'll be the narrator
Telling another tale of the American dream

I see your name in lights
We can make you a star
Girl, we'll take the world by storm
It isn't that hard

'Cause I got your picture
I'm coming with you
Dear Maria, count me in
There's a story at the bottom of this bottle
And I'm the pen
Make it count when I'm the one
Who's selling you out
'Cause it feels like stealing hearts
Calling your name from the crowd
Whoa...

Ha ha..

Take a breath, don't it sound so easy
Never had a doubt
Now I'm going crazy watching from the floor
Take a breath and let the rest come easy
Never settle down
'Cause the cash flow leaves me always wanting more

'Cause I got your picture
I'm coming with you
Dear Maria, count me in
There's a story at the bottom of this bottle

The song ended and we heard an applause from around the room. We both twirled around and saw a lot of the children with their parents and the nurses. I blushed at being caught and turned to see Cassie staring at me with an intent look on her face. I quickly looked away again and turned back to the screen.

“What next?” I asked.

“You can decide,” she answered, passing me the remote controller.

I decided to change the artist, going for City and Colour's - The Girl, instantly thinking of Cassie and if she would like it.

“Sweet choice,” she said to me, almost as if she had read my mind

I wish I could do better by you,
Cause its what you deserve.
You sacrifice so much of your life,
In order for this to work.

While I'm off chasing my own dreams,
Sailing around the world,
Please know that I'm yours to keep,
My beautiful girl.

When you cry a piece of my heart dies,
Knowing that I may have been the cause,
If you were to leave, fulfil someone else's dreams,
I think I might totally be lost.

You don't ask for no diamond rings,
No delicate string of pearls,
That's why I wrote this song to sing,
My beautiful girl.

I was amazed at the sheer beauty of her voice; almost angelic—pure. I looked deep and hard at her as she sang her parts, watched her make it all seem effortless. She turned to me when the song ended and smiled. Not a Cassie grin, not a smirk, just a smile. A smile who showed who she truly was. It was then I decided I had fallen in love with her.
