Parallel Worlds

As Duckie shouted at Alex Becca made her way downstairs and headed to the back door to sit outside, at least outside no one would find her and she could let her mind wander. She sat on the bench outside as tears slowly rolled down her cheeks; as much as she knew Jessica was more than likely telling the truth she doubted Alex would be. If Alex loved her and cared for her then why would he go out of his way to target Jessica? Drunk or not drunk, it was still no excuse.
Becca heard the back door to the house open but didn't react, she was too lost in her thoughts to care. She continued to stare into space as she heard footsteps make their way over to her. They sat down next to Becca and wrapped their arms around her middle. Becca pulled away as Alex tried to kiss her cheek, pulling his arms off herself before wrapping her own arms protectively around her, trying not to make eye contact with him throughout. Alex sighed quietly
"Becca please look at me" he begged; Becca huffed and turned her head scowling at him. Alex looked at the floor before meeting with her eyes
"... I guess sorry isn't enough this time" he murmured quietly; Becca shook her head
"I thought you cared Alex. I thought you cared about me and the kid. You promised you'd change to help me out, not just say it as if it's only words then go and do something else to annoy me. Jessica has never been so apologetic! She's just as annoyed at you as I am and she only knows half the reason why I'm annoyed!" Becca sighed angrily. Alex looked at the floor like a naughty school child being punished
"... I have tried, trust me" Becca snorted
"Yeah right, like I can trust you" she laughed feebly and looked away from him. Alex paused before tapping her leg
"Come with me, I need to show you something" Becca reluctantly let Alex take her hand and lead her back into the house to go to the front door to go back outside. Once outside he took her to the outside bin and let go of her hand to open it
"look" Becca looked at him funnily before taking a look inside the bin. She stared as she saw a big white see-through bag filled with a white powder in there
"That's my whole supply" Alex said quietly "no matter how much it hurts to do that and just give it up straight away I've done it. No matter how much I crave it I'm gonna fight it, I promised you I'd give up and that's what I've done" Alex sighed angrily. Becca gawped at his supply in the bin before gawping at Alex
"Alex I didn't think you-"
"Yeah well I care. As much as you think I don't, I do" he said with a stern tone to his voice "I care because I'm prepared to do anything for you because-" he stopped himself and sighed looking at the floor
"Because what Alex?" Becca asked sternly and impatiently
"... Because I love you and I will do anything for you!" Alex shouted back at her. Becca stood still in shock, she didn't know what to say, she was completely dumbstruck. Alex took a step forwards and placed a small kiss on her cheek and stepped back again to see her reaction. She stared into space before looking up at Alex, tears filling her eyes. She stepped towards him and wrapped her arms around his waist as she rested her head against his chest
"I'm so sorry Alex, I-I- didn't realise" She said as a tear fell slowly down her cheek
"It's okay, you didn't know. I can understand why you didn't trust a complete twat like me" He said indifferently as he placed his arms around her. Becca took a long uneven intake of breath
"I love you Alex" Alex leant down a little and kissed the top of her head
"i love you too"
"Even if you are a complete an utter idiot" Becca giggled lightly into his chest
"Even if you are a big grizzly bear" Alex giggled back; becca laughed and hit him playfully
"there was no need for that!" she said chuckling as she wiped away her tears. Alex smiled sheepishly back at her. He stepped towards her and crouched so that he was level with her middle and planted a small kiss on her stomach
"I promise I'll try my hardest to do anything for you and for our kid" he said looking up at her as he placed his hand on her stomach, Becca smiled down at him and ruffled his hair. He stood up straight and pulled her into a warm hug kissing the top of her head
"I'm gonna be a dad" he chuckled; Becca giggled and smiled as she stood up on her tip toes and kissed him lovingly on the lips.
