I Like the Way You Wear Those Faded Blue Jeans

I showered, ate, got about 2 hours of sleep and went back to the hospital. Tango had gone home so had Georgia. Grant had flaked out next to Zora’s bed. I moved quietly to the end of Zora’s bed and sat down next too her. I took her small hand in my big one. My life was lying in that bed. Zora means the world to me if I were to lose her I don’t know if I could go on. I smiled at the girl in front of me and rubbed circles on her hand. There was a groan to the right of me followed by a very hoarse voice.

“Morning” The hoarse voice said
“Morning” I smiled
“Someone’s happy” Grant stretched
“I was just thinking is all” I said
“Okay” Grant shrugged
“I need to talk to you about you know what” I said turning serious
“Boy these chairs kill your back” Grant said
“Don’t try to change the subject” I said
“Okay sorry I’m listening” Grant said
“What happened between us is not to be talked of to her” I pointed to the bed
“I agree that’s why we are going to drop the conversation” Grant said

I went back to looking at the girl who was sleeping in the bed.

“Did she wake up?” I asked
“Not that I know off” Grant said

I stood up and walked over to the chair beside Grant. I sat down and turned to look at Grant. He turned and looked at me. What happened next I don’t know Grant leaned forward I leaned forward our lips connected. My hand moved to his cheek his hands on my thighs. We kissed until we needed air we broke apart. I smiled then looked across at Zora. I looked back at Grant.

“We have to stop” I sighed
“I know” Grant said
“It’s not safe now because of Zora” I said
“There is something I would like to talk to you about” Grant said
“What” I asked
“I’m planning a hiking trip for after the trip to the UK” Grant said
“Why” I asked
“Because I like hiking” Grant said
“Okay and your telling me why” I asked
“Because I’m thinking of taking Zora with me so much has happened in the last few months and I thought it would be good for her to get away for a little while” Grant said
“I’d love to go” a small voice said

*Zora’s P.O.V*

“Hay your awake” Steve got up and walked over to me
“Yeah” I smiled weakly
“So you would like to go” Dad said
“Yeah I would I need to get out and this would be the perfect opportunity” I said
“It will most likely be just me and you” Dad said
“Some father daughter time” I smiled
“My wife may come if she can find someone to watch the boys” Dad said
“Okay” I said

Dad left not long after and the room fell silent. I could tell that Dad and Steve got along great which was good because it meant that he would be very accepting if Steve and I decided to get married and start a family. Not that it would be wise bringing a child into the world only to be away and miss him or her growing up. As I battled over this subject something came to me.

“You never told me why Uncle Jay called you Stephanie” I said
“Oh yeah well on one case I found this blond thing that I used as a wig and it was really long” Steve said “They asked if they could call me Stephanie”
“You do some stupid things” I said
“Oh hay she’s awake” Jay said walking into the room
“Yeah I’m alive” I smiled
“Good to know” Jay smiled “Now what exactly happened”
“I don’t know someone hasn’t been to get the doctor yet” I said
“Oh right going” Steve said leaving the room

A few minutes later Steve came back with the doctor. The doctor walked straight over to me checked me over before telling explaining what happened.

“Okay so Miss. Hawes last night we found a great amount of liquid around your brain” Doctor said
“What caused that” I asked
“When you hit your head and sustained that concussion the internal bleeding was not picked up as the flow of blood was slow” the Doctor said “It gradually pooled up and put pressure on the side of your brain causing you to black out we are very fortunate as you didn’t sustain any permanent brain damage”
“So I’m good to go” I said
“Well not quite we need to keep you in for a couple of days just to make sure the bleedings stopped” the Doc said
“And how would you do that?” I asked
“Well as you can tell there is a bandage around your head” the doc said “We will remove that first off everyday to check and clean the cut we had to make then before covering it again we’ll take you down for a cat scan”
“So you can tell if there is still bleeding” I said
“Yes well I’ll go and let you talk with your Uncle and boyfriend” the doc said
“Wow wait how did you know” I asked “I mean sure you would know he was my boyfriend because he would have been here last night but how did you know he was my uncle”
“I’m a fan of Ghost Hunters so I know the goings on” the doc smiled walking off
“Welcome to my world” Uncle Jay said
“What do you mean?” I asked
“Every where I go I met people who know all about me it’s a little disturbing” Uncle Jay said
“I bet” I said
“It’s all going to get it too now” Uncle Jay said
“Get what actually” I asked
“Well there will be people who approach you on the street and know everything about you” Uncle Jay said “There will be others who will befriend you gain your trust who when you finally tell them or introduce them to your father they will start wanting to be around more or they’ll ask you for things”
“Oh boy fun” I said sarcastically
“Yeah hay Steve why don’t you tell her about the thing that happened to you” Uncle Jay smiled
“Well we were at this convention when this fan walks up to my table as your uncle and father were stealing the attention and she hands me a picture of my self I signed it handed it back smiled had a brief talk with her you know the usual” Steve said “So she walks off comes back and hands me a piece of paper that’s said unfold and read I read the paper and tried to be real smart I looked up at her and said sorry I’m taken I thought Amy was to my right but it was Tango I grabbed him and kissed him”

I burst out laughing while Steve sat tomato red. Uncle Jay joined me in laughing. We were laughing so hard we didn’t hear Tango walk in.

“Hay what’s with all the laughing” Tango asked
“I can’t believe Steve kissed you” I said in between laughs
“Oh” Tango turned red

After the laughter died down Jay and I struggled to get out breathing under control. I looked at the people in the room with me and thought of how much I loved each one of them.

“I swear you lot are the craziest most messed up human beings on earth” I said shaking my head
“And you are one of us” Tango smiled
“And you love us” Steve said
“And your related to some of us” Uncle Jay grinned
“Oh boy quick is it possible to have a blood and brain transplant” I raised my voice slightly
“Neither will work” Jay said
“Damn” I snapped my fingers
“Are you sure your Grant’s daughter?” Jay asked
“The test said I was” I said
“Maybe you look like Grant but act like you mother” Steve said
“Maybe” I said
“Well look I’m going to go I have work soon” Uncle Jay said
“Okay you go save the toilets of the Rhode Island and say hi to dad for me” I said
“Will do” Jay said walking out the door
“Steve would you mind finding me some form of food” I said
“Anyway thing you want? Steve asked Tango
“Can you get some chips” Tango said
“Okay” Steve said
“I WANT HOSPITAL JELLO OR PUDDING BOTH ARE GOOD” I yelled as Steve walked out the door
“Your one messed up chick” Tango said
“And yet you’re my best friend” I said
“I know” Tango said
“Where are Brain, Donna, Andy and Dustin” I asked
“They have joined with the GHI team” Tango said
“What why?” I asked feeling a little sad
“Because they had only 3 members and we sent over a couple of people” Tango said
“And now were 4 short not to mention I’m the only girl now” I said
“No actually I brought I couple of people I want you to meet I think you’ll like them” Tango said
“Oh god don’t tell me your fathers joining us” I said
“What’s wrong with him?” Tango asked
“Nothing it’s just that there would be two Tango’s and I’d have to call you Dave” I said
“It’s not my father” Tango smiled “Come in girls” Tango called

I looked at the door and two girls walked in. I was shocked to see Kris and Amy walk in the door. At the same time I was so happy.

“So they recruited you two” I smiled
“Yeah we only had to sleep with Jason and Grant” Kris said before smiling
“Hay I’m in a hospital bed here do not do that” I sighed in relief
“You love me” Kris smiled
“And I may kill you” I said
“Never” Kris said
“Hay Tango I bags Kris you can have Amy” I said
“For what” Tango asked
“To train” I said
“I don’t think Jay and G will let that happen” Tango said
“I can talk them into it” I smiled
“High five girl” Kris said
“We so need to have a sleep over when I get out” I said

Kris, Amy and I started talking like girls do. While Tango just took a seat and watched us. Steve soon came back with food.

“Hay Kris Amy what are you doing here?” Steve asked
“There our new TAPS members” I smiled
“Oh boy Tango what have we gotten our self’s into” Steve asked
“I don’t know” Tango shrugged
“Where’s my food?” I pouted
“Right here” Steve handed me a bag
“What’s this” I asked sticking my nose in the bag
“What does it look like” Steve said
“Food” I said my face in the bag
“It’s called junk food Maccas to be exact” Steve said
“What is it” I said my face still in the bag
“Quarter Pounder, fries and your cokes here” Steve said
“Thanks” I said face still in the bag
“Take you head out of the bag and eat it” Steve said
“But it smells so good in here” I said

I took my head out of the bag then the food. I ate it and handed the bag to Steve. An hour later everyone left and I went to sleep. I must have been tired because I woke up early the next morning. When I woke up Grant was sitting in the chair near my bed.

“Hay how long have you been here?” I asked
“Not long” Grant smiled

He stood up and walked over to the edge of the bed and sat down. He stroked my head and placed a kiss on my forehead.

“You’re not being yourself today” I said
“I know” Dad said
“What happened?” I asked
“Um well there’s been an accident” Dad said
“Involving” I questioned
“Your mother” Dad said
“What happened” I asked starting to worry
“Don’t worry she’s alright she was out walking last night when a few guys attacked her” Dad said “She has a broken arm an a few cuts and bruises”
“I want to see her” I said
“You can see her when the doctors take you to give you a cat scan” Dad said
“Okay” I said

Dad and I talked until the doctor came and got me. They cleaned my cut and took me for the CAT scan. On the way we stopped so I could see my mum. We had a quick talk before they wheeled me off. I had the CAT scan before going back to my room. The doctor came in not long after with a smile on his face.

“I don’t think you’ll have to stay as long as I thought” the doc said
“And why would that be doc” I asked
“Well by the looks of your cat scan the bleeding has stopped” the doc said “The results are telling us that there is no bleeding”
“So when can I go home” I asked
“When someone comes to get you but you’ll have to come back in a few day’s we’ll do another CAT scan and if it is clear you’ll be free to go back to your normal life” the doc said “No driving or flying or operating large machinery”
“Okay” I said

The doctor went to get the papers while I called around. First person I called was Dad but he was at work with Uncle Jay so they couldn’t get me. I called Tango but he was busy with the girlfriend so he couldn’t get me. I called Amy but she was getting ready for a night out she was going to some concert. Kris was busy moving house. So I called for Steve. Steve was in band practice. He said he would be happy to get my but he couldn’t just drop out of practice because he is the drummer. I just about had given up. I put my phone down and decided I’d wait until Dad and Uncle Jay where off work so they could get me.

I laid back in the bed and closed me eyes when I heard someone enter my room. I thought it was the doctor.

“No one can get me at this time so I’ll have to wait until my dads finished work or can get a break” I said
“Well he finished early so his here to get you” Dad said
“Dad” my eyes shot open
“Come get out of the bed and get dressed” Dad smiled

I pretty much jumped from the bed which turned out to be a bad idea. I got really dizzy and felt my legs leave me. Two arms wrapped around my mid section holding me up.

“Maybe you should sit down” Dad said
“Maybe” I sat down on the bed

Dad got my clothes and brought them over to me. I stood once again and the dizziness returned. Dad went to get a doctor. The doctor took a look at me. He made me stand up. I felt good for a few seconds then everything started to spin. I sat back down my head was really starting to hurt.

“What’s wrong with her doctor” Dad asked
“I think because she’s been lying down so long plus the fact that it was a head injuries she is just dizzy is all” the doc said
“So how can we get rid of the dizziness” I asked
“I suggest as soon as you get home take a Panadol and try to keep your self active go out in the garden or clean just get your self going and it should go away” the doc smiled
“Okay” I said

I stood up once more and fought the dizziness. This time I managed to get dressed with a like help from Dad. What can I say I couldn’t do up my bra. Then I got stuck in my shirt and had to get help getting out. By the time I was dressed the dizziness had started to go away. It’s like getting off a spinning ride you just have to stand still and let it subside. We walked down to the front desk which happens to be in the waiting room to sign me out. As Dad was filling in the paper work the a Nurse walked over to the desk.

“You’re Grant Wilson” She said
“Yes I am” He smiled
“I’m a big fan of the show” She smiled
“Sorry what’s your name” Dad asked
“I’m Mary” She smiled
“Um Dad if you don’t mind I would rather get of the hospital sooner then later” I butted in
“Oh yes sorry working through this pile of paper” Dad smiled at me
“Dad but you never mentioned this before I mean on the show” Mary said “You’ve been on the show for what 2 seasons”
“We didn’t know until a few months ago” I said
“Wow so does these mean Jason’s not your uncle” Mary asked
“His still my uncle that’s means him and Dad are related now” I said
“Wait till I tell my friend this” Mary smiled “Could I get a picture and an autograph from both of you”
“I don’t see why not” Dad said

Mary ran off and came back with her phone, marker and a book. I took the book and looked at it. I was impressed with what I saw.

“Did you make this?” I asked
“Yes on my computer” Mary smiled
“It’s very good” I flicked the pages
“So where do you want us to sign?” Dad asked
“On the cover” Mary said handing over the marker

I signed the cover first then Dad signed. While Dad was signing I put on a fake smile for the photo. Dad then took a photo and we left. A lot of people where sitting in the waiting room looking at us. I looked over at Dad and laughed.

“What’s so funny?” Dad asked
“You’re wearing your Roto Rooter clothes” I laughed
“I came straight from work” Dad said
“So does that mean you have your Roto Rooter van?” I asked
“Yeah” Dad rubbed the back of his neck
“Man if only you had like a Bugatti Veyron or Pagani Zonda” I said
“What are you going on about?” Dad asked
“Cars” I said
