“Do you think he’s coming back?” she asked, swinging her arm over the side of the bed, her arm had no chance of touching the ground so it was free to go wherever it pleased.
“No, he’s been gone for over two weeks now, he’d be back by now,” he admired her ability to cling to hope, he wished they shared that same trait. “So stop asking all the time will you, it’s really annoying.”
“He doesn’t love us anymore, or he wouldn’t have left us here by ourselves,” her hands found her face in the darkness and she rubbed her eyes, colours spewing into her vision. A yawn escaped her throat.
“Were not by ourselves, mum and dad are here.”
“Like I said, by ourselves,” she rolled over, making the bunk bed sway. They didn’t say anymore, it was late and they had school in the morning. There was homework she had to do, it wasn’t hard or anything, she just had pressing things on her mind.
