Love Song

Chapter 40: Come Lay With Me and Love Me

Amy

Saturday, April 20

I walked back inside the house, careful to avoid the kitchen. I was too sick to eat any breakfast right now. The smell of eggs made me wanna throw up even though I had nothing left to throw up. I wasn’t in the mood to vomit up stomach acid. My throat was still scratchy just from throwing up food. I grabbed my purse and pulled my keys out as Jordan came down the stairs, “Leaving already? Don’t you want to stay for breakfast?”

“I’m not hungry,” I said.

“I can imagine,” Jordan replied sharply, “I wanted to talk to you about last night.”

“I already talked to Josh about it,” I shook my head as I opened the front door to leave, “It’s uh, been solved.”

“I don’t believe that,” Jordan said, “You don’t almost have sex with a man and solve it with a five minute conversation.”

“Well, everyone handles sticky situations in different ways,” I said quickly, “Some of us handle it in five minutes and for others, it takes a little longer.”

Jordan pressed her lips together tightly and looked away from me, my words hitting her like a knife. She swung her arms around a little and headed for the kitchen, “Fine. If you say it’s handled, well then I’ll have to believe you. Say hello to Sean for me.”

I didn’t mean to be so harsh with Jordan, but I needed to get out of there as soon as possible to get back home to Sean. I missed him more than usual even though we had only been apart overnight. I craved him now. I guess in the back of my head, I thought maybe being with Sean would erase the taste Josh left in my mouth. I remember it all. Josh tasted like cigarettes and beer, a combination I would’ve normally been disgusted by but I liked it last night and I hated myself for it. I was afraid when Sean kissed me hello, he would taste it too. If he hugged me, would he smell the alcohol, the cigarettes with the faint smell of Josh’s cologne? He would be able to tell the difference between perfume and cologne. Oh god. I held my arm under my nose and took a deep breath. I couldn’t smell anything on my skin. Josh hadn’t left any traces of last night on me. But I could still feel his wandering hands moved down my face, my arms, holding my hands for a second before sliding to my waist and then finally to my hips. He squeezed me and grinded against me and I responded to every touch and my body moved with his in ways it shouldn’t have. I let it all happen. I’m thankful for Jordan coming in and finding us. Now I just wanted to get to Sean and hold him and kiss him and forget about the horrible thing I had done.

Sean was sitting on the recliner chair in the living room watching TV when Amy came home. She hung her purse up on the coat rack and tossed her shoes off by the door next to his, “Hi Sean. Did you have fun last night?”

“Yeah,” Sean said with a smile as he stood up, “Mostly. Zakk seemed…out of it to me. Didn’t act like himself. Maybe it was just me. Are you alright? You look a little pale.”

“Oh, I was uh, drinking last night,” Amy started to fidget, like it was written all over her, “I drank a little too much last night. I stayed at Jordan’s house last night.”

Sean started laughing, “Sounds like you had fun last night with Jordan and Sam and…what was her name? Erin? Josh’s ex-girlfriend?”

Amy cleared her throat when Sean said his name and her cheeks turned red, “Yeah. Josh’s ex was there drinking with us. Enough about that. I really missed you Sean.”

“I missed you too,” Sean said. Amy grabbed the collar of his shirt and stared at him for a minute. She moved her hands from his shirt to the back of his neck. She pulled him in for a kiss, pressing her body against his. He was shocked by her sudden hunger but he didn’t question it. He grabbed onto her hips and she broke the kiss for a moment, putting her hands over his as if to take them off her hips, “Are you ok Amy?”

Amy looked down at her hips and took a deep breath. She composed herself and looked back up at him with a nod, “Yeah. Yeah I’m fine,” she slammed their lips back together and pushed him down the hall and awkwardly turned into their bedroom. She pulled back and put her hands on his chest, shoving him down onto their bed. She crawled on top of him and kissed him again, working on the buttons of his shirt. She allowed him to sit up long enough to remove his shirt completely and then shoved him back down.

“What’s gotten into you?” Sean asked. Amy paused for a moment with the belt to Sean’s pants in her hand and she smiled, trying to think of something to say so the truth didn’t escape.

“I just really missed you,” she replied. Sean smiled and held her face in his hands, giving her a gentle kiss before moving his hands down her body, grabbing onto her shirt and pulling it over her head. His hands moved up her back and unclasped her bra and Amy let it fall off her arms. Sean rolled over, pushing her onto her back. He impatiently pulled her skirt off and tossed it to the side. He ran his hands up and down her legs as he kissed and bit her neck. She let out a cry when his teeth bit down on her neck. She felt his lips curl into a smile against her skin as his hands wandered elsewhere. His lips moved up and nibbled on her earlobe.

“I love you Amy,” he whispered in her ear and she suddenly lost all of the passion of the moment. She still felt the pleasure of all of it but she no longer felt the happiness she was expecting. She just felt guilt weighing her down. She still tasted cigarettes and beer on her lips. Sean couldn’t take her mistakes away. Sean couldn’t make it better. She put on a happy face for him so he wouldn’t ask her questions. When it was over, he held her tightly against him but she couldn’t feel anything anymore. Nothing except the guilt.
