I Left My Conscience

To The Keys To Your Car

“You are not driving home,” Jeph says. They’re standing in the parking lot of the venue next to Lacey’s car and Lacey is still trying to unlock the door. “Come on. Give me your keys.”

“No,” Lacey says. “I’m fine.”

She focuses as hard as she can on the lock on the door, trying to get the key in the tiny hole, but she still can’t get it. After a minute she sighs loudly and looks at Jeph with his hand still outstretched towards her. She rolls her eyes before placing her keys in his hand. It’s probably better that way because she knows she would most likely lose them. She had a feeling that Jeph wouldn’t.

He smiles at her and Lacey smiles back.

“Now that wasn’t so hard, was it?” Jeph asks.

“Shut up,” she says. “Where are we going?”

“Hotel,” Jeph says. “You can stay in my room.”
