Scream Me a Dream

Chapter 104: Get the Man Some Strings!

8:15am

The week flew by fast, way too fast for both Ville and Soya. Tuesday after dinner, they’d walked from the restaurant back towards La Rambla, not quite ready to go back to their room. They’d walked down the long street, Soya stopping at nearly every booth, street artist and street musician. By the time they’d made it back to their hotel room late that night, Ville turned on the TV while Soya curled up to his side falling asleep easily, both of them wiped from being out all day.

Wednesday morning she woke with a gasp, Ville chuckling against her back as his fingers had found their way past her pajamas bottoms and were working her into quite the aroused state. It was when she came with an arched back and a loud moan, her nails biting into his arm that it was silently agreed that they would not be leaving the room that day.

He then proceeded to turn her on her back, removing her clothing and licked, nipped, sucked and kissed every inch of her body, paying extra attention to the tattoo that ran the length of her side. He’d left noticeable marks high on her neck, and marked her in not so noticeable places for only his sense of knowing.

When he’d finished with her, he’d rested his chin on her stomach and brought up the topic of their honeymoon, he’d voted for Brazil as he’d never vacationed there and had always wanted to, while she had voted for Italy. They’d playfully argued, until Soya had turned him on his back and returned the favor. Licking, nipping, sucking and kissing every inch of his body, paying very careful attention to the tattoo that ran the length of his arm.

He’d happily given into Italy when she’d sunk down onto him, and she was proud to say that that Wednesday, she’d made Ville Valo, Finnish sex god, beg.

Thursday, they’d actually left the bed for things other than room service and the bathroom, leaving the actual hotel when Soya told Ville she’d wanted to see some of Barcelona, other than the floating mall and La Rambla. So they’d changed and left, grabbing a cab and seeing the sights.

They’d seen La Sagrada Familia church, the towering gothic inspired church that was still incomplete even after 128 years. After admiring the church and the shops that surrounded the area, they’d gone to Park Güell, and walked through the Salon of a Hundred Columns admiring the large space that was meant to be a market place, and the mosaic tiles that covered the ceiling. They’d trailed their fingers over the mosaic covered undulating bench that shaped a large sea serpent, and walked through the stone awing that had it not been for the open columns gave the cave like appearance.

They’d walked through the Illa de la Discòrdia, or ‘Block of Discord’, which held buildings by four of Barcelona’s modernist architects. The name of the street itself had been enough to get Ville to follow her to a few more stops on that street before she fed him. They’d stood across the street from Case Batlló, which was also locally known as Casa dels Ossos, or ‘House of Bones’, as the building held a skeletal quietly to it.

Soya told Ville that the common theory that surrounded the shape of the house was that the roof with its blue, purple, and green scale shaped tiles shaped the back of a dragon while the crossed turret that lay nearly in the centre of the roof, represented the sword of Saint George, which had been plunged in the back of the dragon.

They’d finally gone to dinner, at one of the restaurants that lined that street, before Ville dragged her into a cab, towards the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc. With his arms wrapped around her waist and his chin resting on her shoulder they watched the water and light show that was synchronized to music that the fountain gave at certain times of the night.

After the fountain, they returned to their hotel room beat, passing out next to each other on the bed, only bothering to remove their shoes before falling into a deep sleep.

Friday, Soya had woken up to Rosalind calling to see if they wouldn’t mind watching Impi since her babysitter flaked on her. After running it through Ville, she’d agreed, Rosalind saying she’d drop her daughter off in an hour. Sure enough the minute they’d finished getting ready, a knock came to the door, along with the excited squeal of a five year old when Soya answered the door.

Because they really only knew the tourist attractions and large landmarks that bordered the city, Soya had looked up the malls in the city, picking one for them to go to, since they still had to get a bit more of winter clothes for Aida, along with the candies they’d promised her.

She’d picked the Glòries mall, mostly because it had the Disney Store, and she knew Impi would wear herself out in that store. For the most part they’d visited the kids’ stores; Ville partaking in finding things for Aida, mostly surprising Soya when he’d picked the right size for her little sister. They’d gone to the food court, and much to Ville’s protest and Impi’s excitement they went to the Burger King in the mall for lunch.

They’d hit the Disney Store last, and as predicted the girl had worn herself out, running to each and every toy wide eyed and excited. They’d managed to escape the store with two toys for Impi, a few articles of clothing for Aida, as well as toys for her. They’d gotten Aida’s chocolates, as well as new sweaters, shoes and stockings. Soya had had to drag Ville out of one shop before he’d left the store with an entirely new wardrobe for her sister.

Ville had been shocked when they’d left that mall that Soya had only bought herself one pair of shoes and one dress, most of the purchases they’d made being either for Impi or Aida. They’d left the mall and went back to their hotel with Impi napping on Ville’s shoulder. She’d slept well into the rest of the afternoon, sleeping on the bed between them, while Ville flipped through the channels of their hotel TV while Soya looked through her wedding magazines, muttering ‘seven months’ under her breathe every few minutes which caused Ville in turn to laugh.

Rosalind had picked Impi up at seven that evening, reminding them that the five year olds soccer game started at eight that morning and when she got home, she would text them the address.

Bringing them to Saturday, finding themselves sitting in camping chairs that Rosalind and Jyrki had brought out, watching the five to six year olds dressed in pink and lime green uniforms, running after a black and white ball at eight o’clock in the morning.

Soya sat huddled in her camping chair in dark skinny jeans, a black Ramones t-shirt, and a grey wool wrap around sweater, a floral throw blanket covering her legs and grey Uggs that kept her toes warm. Ville sat next to her in his own chair, talking with Jyrki who had arrived earlier that morning, with Jussi following. Apparently the drummer hadn’t wanted to miss Impi’s soccer game either. Rosalind stood right at the sidelines with her brothers, as one of Luis’s daughters was on the opposing team.

“So how was the concert last night?” Soya asked, poking Jussi’s shoulder as he sat on the ground next to her. He’d been damn near quiet since they’d gotten to the soccer field, staring at the ground, very pensive, and that just wasn’t like Jussi…at all.

“What?” Jussi asked, looking up at her.

“The gig last night, in Rauma, how’d it go?”

“Oh, yeah, good.” Jussi nodded looking towards the soccer field.

Soya laughed, poking his shoulder again, causing him to look back up at her. “You okay?”

“I’m fine.” Jussi said slowly. “Why?”

“You seem a bit out of it.” Soya admitted.

“I’m just tired Soya, we left right after the gig last night, got here, helped Rosalind get everything together before coming out here, only to head out again in a few hours. Just wiped.”

Soya chewed on her lip, before nodding. “All right.”

“I mean, what’s the big deal? A man has the right to be tired after all.” Jussi ranted, getting Ville and Jyrki’s attention as well.

“Yes….he does.” Soya said slowly, looking over at Jyrki who shrugged.

“And I’m tired of everyone asking me if I’m all right, I’m fucking fine.” Jussi said, causing Soya to raise her hands in peace.

“I’m sorry I asked.” Soya said not sure what had gotten the drummer so revved up.

Jussi sighed and rubbed his face before getting up, “I’m going to get some air.” Before Soya had a chance to point out that they were already outside, Jussi walked off.

“What is up with him?” Ville asked, looking over at Jyrki who shook his head.

“I have no idea; he’s been like this all week.” Jyrki said. “We’ve tried talking to him, asking him what’s wrong and he just…well you saw.”

Soya bit her lip, looking over at where Jussi had walked off too, before getting up and handing Ville the blanket, “I’ll be back.”

“Soya let him calm down a bit.” Jyrki said, “He’s been walking off, cooling himself down, he’ll be fine in ten minutes.”

“I’m sure it’s fine,” Soya said, kissing Ville’s cheek before walking over towards Jussi, as he’d walked over to a little hill that overlooked the field, and sat down next to him. “Okay, really what’s wrong?”

Jussi gave an aggravated groan and looked over at her. “Soya.”

“Jussi.” She mocked, knocking her shoulder with his. “Come on, we’re friends, talk to me. Might help to get an outside perspective in whatever issue is apparently circling that head of yours.”

“I don’t want to talk about it Soya, in fact, there is nothing to talk about.”

Soya nodded slowly. “If you don’t start talking, I will bug the hell out of you, and trust me, when I put my mind to it, I can be just as annoying if not more annoying then Rosalind.”

Jussi groaned. “I did not know that was even possible.”

“Oh trust me, with the right prompting it’ll happen.” She teased. “And it usually involves a very off key rendition of ‘Relax’ by Frankie Goes to Hollywood.”

Jussi stared at her, and put his hands up when she opened her mouth. “Okay, I’ll talk.”

“That usually does it.” Soya laughed. “So what’s wrong?”

Jussi sighed, stretching his legs out in front of him. “Of all people, I really don’t want to talk to you about this.”

“Well now I’m offended, why not?”

“Because you’re…well…” Jussi looked at her. “I feel like I’d spoil you.”

“Spoil me?” Soya laughed.

“You’re just so innocent.”

Soya sighed. “Start talking Jussi.”

Jussi groaned. “I think I like someone.”

Soya stared at him. “You like someone.”

“A girl…a woman.” Jussi corrected.

“And that’s a problem?” Soya asked confused, she watched as Jussi got up and started pacing in front of her, the agitation quickly coming back.

“It’s a huge problem!” Jussi said waving his hands as he talked. “It was just supposed to be a fuck, quick, simple…I mean there was nothing quick about it, trust me, nothing quick!”

“Got it, you take your time, go on.” Soya humored, watching him very amused.

“And then she left…”

“Right.” Soya nodded.

“And now…I can’t stop thinking about her, I want to call her, and I want to talk to her, and I really want to fuck her again. I don’t know what the hell is wrong with me Soya!”

Soya chewed on her lip, trying not to laugh as she watched Jussi pace. “You like the woman Jussi, there’s nothing wrong with you or liking someone. I’m sure she likes you too.”

“I don’t know that though!” Jussi said. “And that bothers me! I don’t know why it bugs me but it does!”

“Jussi, maybe you should just call her, and tell her how you feel.”

Jussi stopped and scowled at her. “I can’t do that!”

“Why not?!” Soya laughed. “Worst case scenario is that she doesn’t feel the same for you but at least you’d get that closure, best case scenario, you get a girlfriend….or is that the worst case for you?” she teased.

“Ha. Ha.” Jussi said with a glare. “The worst case scenario is that after I tell her, she avoids all of Helsinki and its surrounding areas to stay away from me.”

“Oh come on!” Soya laughed.

“I’m serious!” Jussi said, falling back down next to her. “So I’m just stuck here feeling these stupid….feelings, and I can’t call her, because then that would scare her off.”

“Jus.” Soya said with a small laugh, not quite sure what to say to the drummer.

“I hate feeling like this.” Jussi groaned. “I thought coming here would take my mind off of it, but I just…it keeps going around in circles, should I call her, should I not, should I leave it, or should I poke.”

“How long have you known this woman?”

Jussi shrugged. “Few days.”

Soya laughed. “A few days?”

“More like…” Jussi hesitated. “When you put all our meetings together, it maybe makes…half a day?”

“Jus!” Soya laughed, before putting the pieces together and gaping at him. “Isolde! You like Isolde!”

Jussi response was a groan covering his face with his hands.

“I thought you just wanted to…sleep with her a bit, I didn’t realize you actually liked her!”

“Yeah! How do you think I feel?!”

Soya chewed on her lip, before looking at Jussi. “Not to make you feel worse, but I don’t think Isolde does relationships Jus.”

“I know, I know, I slept with her for that exact reason Soya. We both wanted no strings, no hold bars sex and we got just that, at least one of us did.”

“Now you want the strings.” Soya stated looking at her friend, trying not to pity him.

“I don’t want all the strings, like you and Ville have; I don’t think I’m really cut out for all this marriage and babies crap.”

Soya frowned. “We’re not getting married nor are we pregnant.”

Jussi snorted grinning at her. “Don’t try to hide it, Jyrki already told us you guys are engaged. Congratulations by the way!”

“Damnmit!” Soya cursed, glaring over at Jyrki.

Jussi laughed. “Don’t worry we won’t tell anyone else.”

“Jus, maybe you are cut out for it.” Soya said looking over at him, getting back to the original topic. “You just haven’t found the woman that will change your thinking. Yes, Isolde is…”

“Amazing.” Jussi sighed.

Soya giggled and nodded. “That too, I was going to say independent. Jus, there is nothing, and I mean nothing wrong with liking her, or wanting to have a string or two with her other than just…”

“Fucking?” Jussi asked with a raised eyebrow.

“That.” Soya laughed. “I think it’s sweet.” She said pinching his cheek, causing him to playful glare at her, smacking her hand away causing her to laugh.

“I’m so glad you’re getting enjoyment out of this.”

“Jussi, you’ve worked yourself up into this near panic because you like a girl, you can’t expect me to take the entire situation without wanting to hug you and laugh at you.”

“Thanks Soya, really thanks.” Jussi said with a roll of his eyes as he stood, holding his hand out to help her up. They walked back towards Ville and Jyrki , only for Soya to smack the back of Jyrki’s head.

“What was that for?!” Jyrki said glaring at the woman and rubbing the back of his head, as Soya sat on Ville’s lap, letting Jussi take her previous seat.

“You not being able to keep your mouth shut.”

Jyrki looked over at Jussi. “I told you not to say anything!”

Jussi shrugged. “I’m happy for them, now what do you want for an engagement gift? Where are you registering?” he asked with a grin.

Ville groaned, leaning his head back. “Wonderful.”

“As long as Jussi keeps his mouth shut, along with Rosalind, it won’t leave the band.” Jyrki said.

Soya laughed. “It’s going to be all over the tabloids by the end of the week.”

“No it won’t.” Jussi laughed. “We’ll keep it quiet, now, seriously, do you guys expect separate gifts from us or are we allowed to get you one big gift as a band?”

“No gifts.” Ville said with a roll of his eyes only to look at Soya when she spoke at the same time.

“Depends on the gift.” Soya grinned, causing Ville to laugh, just as the whistle blew out on the field and a wave of pink came rushing at them.

Impi laughing and jumped into Jyrki’s lap, peppering his cheeks with kisses causing him to laugh. “Did you see isi! I had the ball and got to kick it and everything!”

“I did see!” Jyrki said with a nod as Rosalind walked up to them with a bottle of water and a cup of orange slices.

“Impi, you forgot these.” Rosalind said handing Impi the oranges and uncapping the water.

“Thank you!” Impi said, stuffing the orange in her mouth, the rind covering her teeth as she grinned at Jyrki.

“Hey, Rose, we’re sorry we can’t make it to lunch at Luis’ today.” Soya said, pouting at her friend. “If we hadn’t already told Aida we’d be back home this evening we’d get a later flight.”

Rosalind shrugged with a smile, running her hand over her daughters head. “It’s fine monada, Jyrki and Jussi have to leave after this as well.”

“You’re leaving again isi?” Impi asked, looking between Jussi and Jyrki.

“We have too.” Jussi said with a small smile. “But don’t you come up to Helsinki for Christmas this year?”

Impi looked up at her mother, who nodded, before Impi grinned “I am!”

“Then we’ll see you again then!” Jussi grinned, “And of course we’ll call you nearly every single day!”

Impi was about to say something but squealed and jumped off Jyrki’s lap, her orange slices and water falling to the ground.

“Rosa! Miraste lo que hice!!!” Impi yelled running after her friend. (Rosa! Did you see what I did!!!)

“Well that problem is solved thanks to a five year olds attention span.” Jyrki said with a smile as he picked up the orange slices that had fallen, stuffing them in the little cup.

“You’re spending Christmas in Hels?” Soya asked, looking up at her friend.

“I am.” Rosalind said then rolled her eyes. “Well, we are.” She said gesturing towards Impi who was still jabbering away with her friend.

“I thought you had some rule about having to spend Christmas here?” Jussi said looking at Rosalind as she sat on the ground next to Jyrki’s feet.

“I do, my brothers decided to bail on me though.” Rosalind said with a shake of her head. “Luis and his family are spending it with his wife’s family this year and Hugo has decided to spend Christmas somewhere snowy and full of whores for him to sleep with.”

“Well I’m glad you’re taking their decision well, I can’t hear a bit of bitterness in your voice at all.” Ville said with a raised eyebrow.

Rosalind shook her head. “It’s the only holiday I like having us all together, the only one I ever ask for, and when we got together to talk about what we were going to do, they shanghaied me, and handed me two open ended tickets to Helsinki and said enjoy. So now I’m stuck.”

“Good to know you want to spend it with us.” Jyrki muttered.

Rosalind rolled her eyes as she stood back up. “You could very well come here for Christmas too you know.” She said walking away from the group.

Jyrki shook his head, raising his hand as Soya started to talk. “Drop it Soya, she’s been like this since she found out her brothers weren’t going to spend Christmas with her. She’s more upset with them then she is at me.”

Soya bit her lip, before nodding slowly, getting off Ville’s lap. “I was going to say to not take what she says to heart Jyrki, she’s actually more upset about not spending Christmas with her parents, then anything else.”

Jyrki groaned, feeling like a jackass as he felt Soya’s annoyance aimed at him as she walked away.

“Her parents?” Jussi asked with a frown.

“Every holiday, birthday and special occasion Rosalind visits her parents at the cemetery they’re buried at.” Jyrki said. “Christmas is a big one for her.” Mostly because it had been her parents favorite holiday, and the one holiday her parents had insisted they be home for no matter how old Rosalind and her brothers had been or where they were touring the day before or the day after.

Ville frowned. “Her parents passed around that time didn’t they?”

Jyrki nodded slowly. “Yes, they did.”

XxxxxxX

“You okay?” Soya asked wrapping her arms around her friend’s waist, leaning her chin on her shoulder.

“Fine.” Rosalind shrugged, watching as her daughter ran back onto the field.

“Look at it this way, when Jyrki gets annoying, you can always come over to my place, I’ll be in Hels for Christmas this year.”

Rosalind gave a weak shrug. “You know it’s not like Christmas is all that great around here.”

“I know.”

“Luis yells, I yell, Hugo miraculously raises his voice to tell us to shut the fuck up.” Rosalind shook her head. “Impi loves going to Helsinki anyway, she likes making snow angels.”

Soya laughed. “So does Aida.”

“Christmas is so bitter around here; I don’t know why I push so damn hard for it. Every. Single. Year.” Rosalind rolled her eyes at herself.

“Does Luis still blame you?” Soya asked softly, looking over at Luis with Hugo.

Rosalind shrugged. “I guess, I don’t know, a bit. Maybe it’s good that we get away this year. Jyrki’s been wanting to have us over for Christmas since…well…forever.”

“I thought you spent one Christmas with him?”

“Our first, ten years ago, pre-Impi.” Rosalind laughed. “And that was more of a fluke, my flight got cancelled last minute, and even then, I hid in the bathroom while Jyrki made breakfast to argue with Luis.” Rosalind grinned at her friend. “I didn’t want Jyrki thinking I was crazy or anything.”

“I’m sure he still doesn’t.” Soya laughed pulling away from Rosalind. “It’ll be a good Christmas this year Rosalind. I swear, no yelling.”

Rosalind laughed. “Oh, I’m sure Luis and I will find a way. It is tradition after all.”

“Stop worrying, and stop making Jyrki feel like such a jerk.”

Rosalind looked over at her boyfriend. “Fine, but I’m going to make him squirm a bit before apologizing to him.”

“I don’t expect any less.” Soya laughed, hugging her friend again.

Rosalind sighed looking at her friend, before looking back at her daughter. “And it would be nice to let Jyrki spend Christmas with his daughter.”

Soya grinned, “I think that may be the first time I’ve ever heard you refer to Jyrki as her father.”

Rosalind took a deep breath exhaling slowly. “He puts up with so much of my shit, and when he found out we were going to spend Christmas up there, he got so excited, and I’m being such a bitch and ruining it for him, and for what? So I can spend Christmas at my brothers house listening to him yell at me for killing our parents?”

Soya sighed. “You didn’t-“

“I know.” Rosalind nodded. “Trust me, I know. It’s good for a little girl to spend time you’re her dad right?”

Soya laughed. “I don’t really know from experience, as I avoided my father when I was younger, but you enjoyed it didn’t you?”

Rosalind laughed and nodded. “I loved it, and so does Impi and I’m not going to ruin this for her. New traditions right?”

Soya nodded. “They’re a good thing Rose, a very good thing.”
