Lies and Broken Smiles

Dinner is ready she cooked again.
Everyone is at the table.
Mum, Dad, Jess, Me. We eat in silence.
Pasta. Carbs.

"So Calista, where did you go?" Mother ask in attempt to break the silence.

"I hung out with Dante." It's not a lie.

"Who's Dante? I've never heard that name." Father ask.

"He's my friend." I say

"He's a good guy." Jess breaks in
It's awkward.
I eat my dinner as fast as I can.

"May I be excused?" I ask

"Yea sure." Mother says.

I run up stairs to my room, and to my bathroom, just as I'm about to get what I want to get done I hear the door open.

"I'm in the bathroom." I say

"I know." I hear Jess "Don't do it." She says in a plead voice.

"Do what? Pee." I say faking a laugh.

"I know what you're doing I heard you. I just didn't know what to say."

"Heard what?" I try my hardest my heart pounding in my chest

"Cali stop playing stupid!" She yells
I come out of my bathroom.

"What I do is my business, you need to get out of my room... Now!" I yell at her

"Cali I love you."

"If you love me you'll leave me alone, and don't you dare talk to mum or dad." I yell

"Cali you need help." She pleads crying

"Fuck off and get out now!" I yell

She steps back crying before running out of the room.
I'm so angry, but why? I shouldn't be.
She only cares

She wants you to be fat

She cares, she wants me to be healthy

She wants to be the prettier, thinner sister.

I'm so sick of you just stop, stop, stop!
I go to the bathroom let the food out of me and keep doing it for a good while. Then I have a shower and fall back on my bed.
This is not the life I wanted.

The car ride to school is awkward and silent.
I can tell whats going on in Jessica's mind it basically goes like this.

Why won't she tell me? Why is she doing this to herself? Should I tell mum and dad? Maybe I can handle this on my own? Whats going on?

I focus on the road, when I park she looks at me like she's about to say something but then thinks better of it and runs out of the car.
I'm annoyed, but then I see Alice.

"Alice wait please!" I yell

"Hello." She says still in a pissy mood from yesterday

"I'm sorry! Forgive me please!" I say hugging her

She sighs "It's fine." She looks at me and then smiles

"We can't fight when we have a party to plan." She smiles

"Is that the only reason you forgive me." I laugh.

"And other reasons." She laughs

"Where is Julie?" I ask

"Sick."

"Sucks for her."

"Yep hopefully she'll get better, it's only a few more days left of school, I can't believe it." She
smiles

"I guess."

"It's the last week act a little more excited will you."

I look at her "OMG YAY, LIKE TOTALLY CAN'T BELIEVE THAT SCHOOL IS LIKE OVER LIKE!" I yell

"Okay that's a little too excited."

"You told me to be excited."

"Hey Cali."

"Dante." I smile and hug him

"Sooooo what's going on here?" Alice ask

"Nothing." I say blushing.

"Nothing." Says Dante

"Uh huh....."

"We are just friends Alice stop."

"Well Dante are you coming to my pool party?" She ask

"Sure when is it?"

"On Saturday!"

"Cool I'll try to get there." He smiles and then the bell rings. "I gotta go I'll see you soon."

"Bye." I smile

"So as if nothings going on. You're falling for him." Alice laughs at me

"No there isn't." I say blushing redder

"Come on missy you can't lie to me."

"I have to get to class, bye." I run off.
