“Man I fell in the water though, but she said yes!” Jack beamed at me.

Jack and Julie had come round to share the news of their engagement with us; Callie and Julie were on the couch talking about wedding plans; while I sat talking with Jack in the kitchen.

“Aw I wish I saw that; you falling in the water” I replied almost falling off my chair at the thought.

“Thanks for the support!” Jack said looking down at his feet.

“I’m sorry bro” I replied jumping over and hugging him from behind.

We stayed like this for a while before there was a buzz from behind us, I turned round to see Callie’s phone flash then go dark.

“Callie baby; your phone just went” I shouted through to her.

I wanted to reach out and read the text but I knew I had just got back in her good books - reading her texts would certainly send me flying back out of it. Seconds later she came running in and grabbed her phone from the worktop before anyone could grab it.

“Thanks hunny” she smiled not looking up from her text but I knew that was aimed at me.

She then laughed at whatever was in text; I wish I’d read it now. The way she’d grabbed the phone was so suspicious it was like she was hiding something from me; again I tried ignoring it – she loved me, how could she think anything else.
