Don't Give up on Me

Uh Oh

“Dannnnnnnny!” I cried out. I was sitting on my bedroom floor, looking around at my clothes piled about. Rachel had gone out with Dougie tonight to dinner and a movie, and I was left alone since Danny had moved back home just a few days ago. But since I was feeling lonely, I called Danny, Tom, and Harry to come keep my company. It was around 4 or so and I had finally decided to change out of my pajamas. I pouted, though, as I realized my skinny jeans were getting fairly tight. They were as comfortably tight as they could get, until my stomach started growing. Even though it wasn’t big at all, it’s still big enough that my hips don’t quite fit in my jeans.

“Niccccccccccy.” Danny mimicked, showing up in the doorway. I turned to him, my eyes big with sadness. “What?” he asked, starting to worry. He took a seat beside me, worry evident in his eyes. I pushed my bottom lip out, looking down at my 10 pairs of pants; all of which skinny jeans.

“I’m fat.” I whispered, shaking my head. I looked down at my stomach, letting out a sigh. I lifted my hand, rubbing the small bump softly as if it were fragile enough to break. Danny had let out a big laugh and I turned to him, raising my eyebrows. “What’s so funny? This is serious. I’m HUGE.” I bellowed, holding my hands out as if it would emphasize how big I were. Which I was way off, but still.

“Niccy. Shuttup. You’re the opposite of big. I mean, really? You’re tiny.” Danny laughed, shaking his head. He then looked over at me, and I felt a blush shade my cheeks. I was wearing only a pair of underwear and a tank top. I just pushed it to the back of my mind. “Besides, you’re supposed to be big. You’re pregnant, remember?” My eyes went wide and I shot my hand to cover his mouth. I looked around as if someone where there who wasn’t supposed to hear that.

“DANNY. Shush! Tom and Harry could be right out there and hear you.” I began to fret, jumping up to run to the door. I looked out and didn’t see either of them. I turned and felt a little nauseous. “Okay…too fast…” I muttered, clutching my stomach. Danny shot up in a heartbeat and put his hand son my shoulders, as if I would topple over. I looked up, taking a deep breath.

“Are you okay? What happened?” Danny asked, looking me in the eye. I nodded, taking another deep breath. “Niccy?”

“I just…I shouldn’t move too fast. I read online that I’m going to have to move slower so I don’t harm myself or the baby.” I whispered, rubbing my little stomach. “How am I going to hide this from Rach? She’s going to find out sooner or later when she sees this huge GROWTH in the middle of my body!” I said, opening my arms wide. Danny rolled his eyes, moving to close the door so no one could hear.

“Niccy. There’s only one solution.” Danny said, walking to the bed and taking a seat. I sat beside him, shaking my head at what he was going to say next. “Niccy, come on. You can’t keep hiding this from her. The longer you wait, the worse it’s going to be when you tell her. She’s going to be so upset that you’ve waited 3 months to tell her.” Danny reasoned, and I looked down, playing with my fingers. I knew he was right, but was I going to admit it? No.

“Danny, you don’t understand. If I tell her…then she’s going to be mad either way. Rather I had told her before or if I tell her now. She’s going to do the same thing my parents had done. And I can’t go through that again. I have no where else I can go.” I whispered, rubbing my stomach softly.

“Listen to me when I say this… Niccy, look at me.” I looked up at his eyes, the piercing blue color mixing with my piercing green globes. “She will never turn her back on you…even if she find our your pregnant. She’s going to invite you in with open arms. Remember that night you showed up on her doorstep? Without any questions, she welcomed you in. She’s your best friend. And I’ve known her forever…she would never turn down the opportunity to be an aunt. You know that.” He let out a chuckle, and so did I. “Just promise me you’ll tell her. And soon.” Danny said, and I nodded slowly.

“You’re right. I will, honest. I just…I need to find a good time. Honest. I’ll tell her soon.” I smiled, rubbing my stomach. “I just hope she doesn’t freak. Weather it’s happy or mad…I don’t know. But she’ll freak one way or another.” I giggled. “Thanks Danny.” I smiled, leaning over to give him a hug. I felt butterflies in my stomach, but I just dismissed them to have to do with that baby.

“Not a problem, love.” Danny whispered, hugging me tight. I grinned, my face heating up. I stood up and walked over to my wardrobe, deciding to grab a pare of pajama pants again. I sighed, slipping them on as the stretchy material fits around my waist. “Love, you aren’t fat. Just pregnant, okay?” Danny said, and I nodded with a smile.

“I’m going to go check Rach’s room to see if she has any sweatpants I can steal and never give back.” I walked up to the door and turning the handle. “The result of being pregnant.” I giggled with a smile, Danny grinning too. I pulled the door fully open and turned, coming face to face with my biggest fear; being caught. My eyes went wide and I felt completely drained of my happiness. Uh Oh.
