All I Wanted Was You

“Thanks.”
He walked off stage and looked around.
“Where are you?”
I stayed where I was. The tears were still coming.
What he sang just pierced right through me. Every single verse and word, and the way he sang it.
“Belinda?”
I felt him getting closer, there was no use in hiding he would search for me until he found me.
“Yeah?”
He came walking over with a smile on his face.
“Hey there. Did you like it?”
“Like it?”
“The song?”
He got closer and took my hands in his and kissed them.
“It was beautiful.”
“You had to know it was for you.”
He wiped the tears from my eyes.
“Why?”
“Why what?”
“Why me Rob? There are others dying to be at your side. I am not special, or gorgeous, I am plain. There is nothing extraordinary about me.”
He shook his head.
“I look at you, I see you, and I hear you sing those remarkable songs and I know deep inside you are special. You are the one I want to get to know more, the one I can be vulnerable with, I can share anything with, that I can sing with.”
I looked up at those eyes.
“Rob..”
He caressed my cheek.
“I will not take no for an answer.”
“Rob I am broken. Surely you can see that. See all the cracks, the pain, the misery in me. You have to see that.”
“I see Belinda. I have always seen that. I know you are because…I am too.”
“I know.”
His eyes widen.
“How?”
“The night you woke yelling. I knew then.”
“Wha-“
“I have the same thing happen to me. Those memories invading my life reminding me what happened.”
“Let me in Belinda…please.”
He grabbed my face and started to pull me closer.
“Please…I need you in my life.”
“I-I…you barely know me.“
I could feel his lips almost touching mine.
“Please.”
I closed my eyes and let him pull me to him and feel the warmth of his lips against mine.
And I left myself express what I haven’t felt in such a long time.
Our lips moved together like an elegant dance.
He pulled me closer and he bent down more.
His hands gripped my waist and my fingers reached up and ran through his hair.
He slowly pulled away, smiled and kissed my forehead.
“What do you say beautiful….will you be my girlfriend?”
He looked at me with such adoration and his eyes sparkled.
I nodded yes.
A big grin broke out on his face and he picked me up and it caused me laugh.
“Rob! Hahaha put me down!”
He put me down carefully
“Sorry. But you have just made me so happy.”
“You have to promise me something.”
“Anything.”
“Don’t-“

“Don’t hurt me.”
He tucked my hair behind my ear
“I promise you Belinda Morgan…I will never hurt you.”
I looked at him and I knew…I just knew he wasn’t lying to me.
