Have Faith In Me

You kill me, you always know the perfect thing to say.

Grace woke up the next morning feeling, surprisingly, refreshed. She had gotten a great night sleep and knew she was ready for the day. She stepped out of bed and headed to her bathroom to shower. She then got dressed in a pair of light blue jean bermuda shorts and a navy blue tank top with a navy blue pair of Toms shoes. She decided to let her hair dry into her natural curls so she grabbed her bag with her things and made her way out of the room. She jogged down the stairs and heard noise coming from the kitchen. She walked in to see her dad as well as another man,

"Hey." she said to get their attention.

"Oh hey Grace." her dad said nervously.

She noticed how his actions changed when she came into the living room.

"You're up early. Did you sleep well?" He said cleaning the counter of food.

"Uh yeah I slept fine but its eleven thirty. Its not early." Grace said laughing

"When Gavin is over here he doesn't wake up until one." Matthew said

"Gavin is a freak. Who is this?" she asked curiously.

She eyed the man sitting at the kitchen table. He stood about 6'2, the same height as her dad, and he had black hair. He had very soft facial features and looked a little younger than her dad did. She had no doubt that the man was Italian. He looked like he could fit right in with her dad's side of the family.

"This is my friend Eddie. Eddie, this is my daughter Grace. I told you about her." Matthew said

"Yes, you did. It's nice to meet you Grace." Eddie said shaking her hand "Your dad has told me a lot about you."

"Nice to meet you too."

Before she could say anything else her cell phone rang.

"Hello?" she answered walking out of the kitchen.

"Hey Grace. Its Sophia. How are you?" she asked

"I'm good. How are you?" Grace asked

"Great. I know yesterday I said today would be a girls day but the guys were really bugging us about going. So they are coming now too. Is that cool?" Sophia explained

"Yeah that's fine. I don't care. Its the guys from yesterday right?" Grace asked

"Yes ma'am."

"Well yeah that's not a problem." Grace said

"Ok awesome. Have you ate yet?" Sophia asked

"No."

"Well do you want to grab a bite to eat with us?"

"Sure. What place do you have in mind?" Grace asked

"I think we're just hitting up IHOP. Home of the best pancakes ever." Sophia said making her laugh.

"Seriously." Grace said

"Ok. Its on the way to the beach. You should have passed it yesterday. Just head in that direction. You can't miss it. We'll meet you there."

"Sounds good. I'll see you in twenty."

Grace said her goodbyes to Sophia and made her way back into the kitchen. She saw her dad and Eddie still sitting at the kitchen table.

"Hey, um. I'm heading out to meet up with some friends. I'll be back later for dinner." she said

"Ok Grace. Have fun." her dad said giving her a smile.

She threw both men a smile before left the kitchen and headed out of the house. She jumped in her car and made her way out of the driveway. She began her drive to the IHOP when he cell phone rang again.

"Hello?" she answered

"How is my favorite niece doing." Grace heard the voice say.

"I'm your only niece." Grace said laughing as she responded to her Aunt Michelle.

"That's true but that doesn't mean you can't be my favorite still." Michelle said

"Touche."

"I can't wait to see you tonight. Gabi hasn't stopped talking about you since I told her she would see you last night." Michelle explained

"I can't wait to see you guys too. It's been a while. I know Gabi has gotten so much bigger compared to the last time I saw her." Grace said

"Yes she has and she's a little diva now."

"I wonder where she gets that from." Grace said chuckling.

"Her father. You know how Tanner is. He's like a little girl himself." Michelle said

"So what time are you guys coming over?"

"Probably around six. I have to help your dad cook or he'll burn the house down." she joked

"Yeah he's never been a great cook." Grace said

"How are you getting along with him?" she asked

"I had a moment with him when i first got here yesterday but we're ok now." Grace explained

"Your mom called you huh?" Michelle said chuckling to herself.

"Yeah. I swear her and Gavin can get me to do whatever they ask me to. I don't understand it."

"Well I'm glad you two are getting along. What are you doing now?" she asked

I'm actually meeting up with some people i met yesterday. We're getting a bite to eat and then going to the mall." Grace told her aunt.

"You never had a problem making friends. Well I'll ket you go then. I don't want you talking on the phone and driving. I'll see you later alright?" Michelle said

"Yeah see you tonight."

Grace hung up with her aunt and immediately saw the IHOP on the right side of the road. She pulled in to the parking lot and quickly parked. She grabbed her keys, iPhone and wallet before stepping out of her car. She opened the door and was met with a cold burst of air. She walked inside and saw many people hanging around the host area waiting to be called. She began to look around for Sophia when someone grabbed her wrist lightly. She turned to her right and saw Mike looking down at her. She didn't realize before but Mike was really tall compared to her 5'4 height.

"Hey. We have a table already." He told her with his infamous smirk on his face.

"Ok then. Lead the way." she said looking down.

Mike grabbed her way before pushing his way through the crowd of people and heading towards the table. As they approached it, Grace noticed Sophia, Jaime, Emmy, Tony and Vic sitting at the large U-shaped booth. When they were standing in front of it Mike motioned for Grace to slid in and then followed her after she sat down.

"Hey girl. Did you have any trouble getting here?" Sophia asked

"No. It was pretty easy." Grace said smiling.

"Hey guys. My name is Anna and I'll be your server today. Can I start you off with drinks?" the sever said to them.

They went around the table and gave their drink orders. Sophia filled Grace in on everything she missed out on when she left the beach the night before. The waitress came back with the drinks and then took their orders before collecting the menus and walking away.

"So Grace what do you do? Are you in school or anything?" Tony asked sipping on his coke.

"Oh I graduated from NYU in May." she replied

"With what degree?" Vic asked

"I have two degrees; one in music business and the other in photojournalism." Grace explained.

"Wait, how old are you?" Emmy asked curiously

"I'm twenty. I skipped a few grades in school so I graduated when I was sixteen."

"Oh so you're like super smart?" Jaime said nudging Grace's arm.

"I guess." she said laughing

"So do you have a job back in New York?" Sophia asked

"Yeah I actually work at Webster Hall. I usually shoot the bands that play there. I write reviews for some of the shows as well."

"Is that all you do?" Jaime asked

"Well when I'm not shooting or taking video, I either help out bands that may not have merch guys or girls or I act as assistant manager for certain shows. So I handle meet and greets, food and drinks for the bands and sometimes I help out tour managers with whatever they need. It really just depends on the show. I'm also friends with a few bands so I do photo shoots for them or their friends if needed." Grace explained

"How long have you been working there?" Tony asked

"Two and a half years. My uncle is a manager there and he helped me get the job." she said

"I don't think that is the job for you."

Grace looked to her left and up at Mike. She pulled a confused look silently asking him to explain.

"You should be in front of the camera, not behind it. Every time I see you, you get prettier and prettier." he said smoothly as Grace blushed and the rest of the table laughed.

"Aww Mike you made her blush." Jaime said poking her pink tinted cheeks.

She slapped his hand away and looked at Mike.

"Thank you." Grace said softly

"No problem beautiful." Mike said smirking

"You know, you are smooth. Respect." Grace said as her bold side came out.

"Thanks." Mike said laughing.

"Uh oh. Mike I think she's getting used to your game. I see the New Yorker in her coming out." Jaime said jokingly

"Yeah, you should be worried." Grace said smiling at him.

"No need to worry. As long as you stay gorgeous I'll always have something to say." Mike said back to her.

They kept each others stare until Grace looked away blushing again.

"Damnit." Grace said chuckling

Mike smiled to himself before putting his arm around Grace and talking.

"Mike 1 Beautiful 0"
