Ivy Roberts joined the Cullen family after her abusive father took it to far one time. He left her in the house bleeding to death. Rosalie and Emmett, being on their 99th honeymoon in England, found her moments. They kept her alive just long enough for Carlisle to get there and make her a Cullen for the rest of eternity.
Lucas Collins became a werewolf before the new born vrs. cullen/wolf pack battle. Sam though kept him on the down low and didn't let him fight because it was far to dangerous for him. Even after the Cullens left to start fresh somewhere else to end the suspicion of their never ageing, the pack continued to phase to keep the gene alive.
