Every time Brooks and his whore danced harder, I grinded on Max harder, and I’m pretty sure he wasn’t going to complain.

“Someone having fun?” He said as he nibbled on my ear.

I shuddered. “You have no idea.”

A couple dances and a few drinks later, Max and I stood at the table with the rest of the guys left. I looked over and saw Brooks staring. I decided to make a move.

“Max, you wanna come back to my place? I’m pretty sure Jamie has disappeared with her guy of the evening and I don’t wanna be alone.” I said smiling at him.

He gave me his award winning smile and downed the rest of his drink. He took my hand and started out the door. “It’s been real guys, see you guys tomorrow at practice?”

As we walked out the door, I could feel Brooks’ eyes staring at the back of my head.

When we got back to my house, I saw a strange car in my driveway.

“Well, it looks like Jamie brought her fun home, eh?” Max joked.

I rolled my eyes. “I have to warn you now; you might have to sleep with a pillow over your head.”

“That bad eh?” He said as he opened my door for me.

“You have no idea.”

When we walked up the stairs to my room, I saw Jamie’s bedroom door shut.

I started to laugh. “I’ll find out who it is in the morning darling.”

When we got up to my room, I grabbed my shorts and BC tank and changed, forgetting Max was in the room.

“Damn. You are simply stunning.” He said as he stripped down to his boxers.

I blushed and threw my hair up. “You aren’t too bad yourself stud.”

As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was asleep.

I woke up to hear a pounding at my door.

“What the fuck?”

I looked at the clock. ‘4 AM’. Who in god’s name?

I quietly got out of Max’s arms and went downstairs.

“Jesus Christ, don’t you realize what tim-“ I said as I opened the door.

“We need to talk.” Brooks said as he forced himself into my house.

“Sure come on in. Your presence is always welcome.” I said, voice dripping in sarcasm.

“Why are you here?” He said looking around the living room.

“Look can we take this outside? I really don’t wanna wake up my household.”

He followed me out back. As soon as the door was shut he repeated his question.

“I got the job as Head Nurse in the Pediatric Ward of UPMC. I thought you were in Wilkes-Barre?” I said crossing my arms.

“I got called up cause I was that damn good.” He smirked.

“Always the ego trip with you. Still doesn’t explain why you are banging down my door at 4 AM.”

“What would have happened if I would have stayed at BC one more year?”

“In my opinion? You would have graduated and eventually ended up the same place you are now.”

He sighed and sat on our deck steps. “I meant with us.”

“I don’t know Brooks. You want me to say that I think we would still be together? More than likely. We probably would have gotten married and had one or two children by now. But that’s all a fantasy now Brooks. You made your decision.”

“I know but god damnit, I still wanted you in my life! Every step of the way I have thought ‘Would Ads approve of this?’ or ‘Oh Ads would like that’. We could have made us work.”

I laughed. “Are you fucking nuts? As far as I know, you became a huge hockey superstar and forgot all about me until you saw Jamie after the Boston game! And even then you brought me up cause you only felt bad for me. I do not need your sympathy fucker.” I felt the tears form. “I have made a life for myself between here and Boston. I made do without you in my life. I cut out the sport that means more than anything to me because it reminded me of you! And no matter what the fuck I did, I couldn’t get you out of my head. That’s all I wanted to do after you left was to get you out of my head so I could move on.”

“Is that what you are doing with Max?” He asked quietly.

Before I could answer, the door slid open. I looked up to see Jamie and Ryan walk out.

“Brooks what the fuck are you doing here? Haven’t you caused enough damage?” Jamie snapped.

“Me? You think I’ve caused damage? Do you realize who you went home with?” He retorted.

“Brooks, now is not the time.” Ryan said.

Both Jamie and I looked between Ryan and Brooks.

Brooks chuckled. “Oh no, I think it’s perfect timing since right now everyone thinks I’m the bad guy. Jamie, did you realize Ryan here is engaged and getting married within the next two weeks?”

My jaw dropped as Jamie started going after Ryan. I grabbed her.

“Jamie, save your anger for those BC boys.” I said glaring at Brooks. “Ryan I think its best you leave. Like now.”

He started to walk through the door before he turned around. “Jamie, I’m sorry.”

Jamie tried to go after him again but I held her back. “Get the fuck out of here asshole.”

After Ryan was gone, Jamie turned her hatred to Brooks.

“You. What the fuck are you doing here? Hurting her more than you already have?”
