Layla’s POV
I groaned as my phone beeped signalling I had another text. Rolling over to my front I picked it up off the floor and opened it looking at the screen, it was Zoe again; I glared at the phone and threw it back on the bed behind me and buried my head in my pillow.
Nathan had joined us for lunch, just invited himself over and he and Zoe, Adam and Aaron got talking while I ignored him and ever since Zoe has been singing his praises, I was about another text away from suggesting she go and marry him because it was just so annoying. He had stolen from me twice now and they think he is a good guy.
I pouted to myself before deciding that I was hungry so getting up I slipped on my slippers and made my way downstairs where Mom was in the kitchen making a pie, probably Apple because Dad loves apple pie.
When I walked in she smiled over at me
“hey honey, you need something?” I shook my head with a smile
“no thanks, just a bit hungry” she nodded and then pointed to the fridge
“well there’s cold cuts in there if you want to make a sandwich” I smiled and reached over giving her a kiss on the cheek
“thanks Mom” she smiled and got on with the pie.
As I sat down to eat my sandwich she asked
“so who is this boy your father told me about?” I groaned
“Mom I’m eating, I don’t want thoughts of him while I’m eating thanks” Mom frowned
“is he trouble?” I chuckled
“with a capital T, Mom he is annoying and stole my phone and my ID only so he could return them to look good” Mom giggled
“aww a crush” I looked at her disgusted
“he is not crushing on me, he just finds me interesting to annoy for some unknown reason” Mom shrugged
“that’s one way of looking at it”
“that’s the only way of looking at it, Dad would agree with me” Mom laughed
“I know, he suggested getting you some mace to spray at him if he comes near you again” my head perked up
“really?!” Mom fixed me with the Mom look
“no you are not having Mace” I pouted and went back to eating while she spoke “look I’m not telling you to be his friend or anything but if he is doing it to get a reaction then surely not giving one he will get bored and move on so if you act like he doesn’t exist or like everyone else then he will get bored and leave you alone” I thought over it before shaking my head
“I can’t Mom, you don’t know how annoying he is” Mom laughed
“do you know how your father and I started out?” I shrugged
“you were friends as kids” Mom nodded
“yeah but for a while we hated each other and constantly he was on my case and wouldn’t leave me alone, look at us now” I rolled my eyes
“yeah but that’s Dad, Nathan is nothing like him” Mom just gave the Mom smile then carried on making the pie while I ate then left her to it going back to my room.
When I got to my room I noticed that my phone was buzzing so walking to my bed I flopped down and grabbed it up, looking at it I didn’t notice the number but answered anyway
“hello?”
“now why did you ignore me at lunch today?” I frowned
“who the hell is this?” there was a chuckle
“I’m offended you don’t recognise my voice darling, it’s Nathan” I groaned
“what the fuck do you want?”
“language, how would your father react?”
“pat me on the back and tell me to set fire to you”
“nice guy”
“I think so now what the hell do you want, tell me in the next ten seconds or I’m hanging up”
“always rushing me, sheesh, I only wanted to see if you got your phone back and apparently you did”
“I wouldn’t have had to search for it if someone hadn’t stole it in the first place Nathan, stop taking my stuff or the next time I report you to the school office as well as getting the football team on your front lawn beating the shit out of you” he chuckled
“consider me warned, you know though that I wouldn’t have to do those things if you would just talk to me”
“yeah like I’m gonna do that, just go away Nathan and leave me alone, bother some other girl who will actually fawn over you, it’s not happening with me”
“I don’t want some girl to fawn over me, you are enough to keep me busy”
“good bye Nathan” I then hung up the phone and turned it off to ensure he couldn’t reach me again.
Laying back on the bed I looked towards the ceiling and cursed a blue stream in my mind, what the hell was going on? I don’t like him at all and still he annoys me, damn him!
I closed my eyes and drifted off into a world empty of Nathan and any other annoying things.
