You Just Don't Know What the Future Holds

Nick's POV

I sat in my car and sobbed. I didn't want to leave her, but I didn't want her to be madder because I didn't listen so I slept in my car that night.

When I woke up the next morning I went inside, changed, and made Staci her favorite breakfast.

"Nick..." She sighed when she walked into the kitchen.

"Baby, I'm so sorry! I didn't want to fight either, but whether its my fault or not I still feel just as badly as you do." I said, taking her hands in mine and starring deeply into her eyes, "I promise to move on if you forgive me."

"Honestly, I forgave you last night after you left." She said.

"If we're being honest here, I never actually left; I slept in my car..." I admitted.

"Really?" She laughed a little.

"Yeah." I nodded.

"How did I not see that coming?!" She questioned.

"I don't know!" I shrugged.

"So is this for me?" She asked, looking at the table.

"If you want to eat it all, that's fine. I'll make something else." I chuckled.

"Don't make fun of me." She said angrily. Damn, her moods change FAST!

"I wasn't..." I stated, sort of scared.

"I'm kidding!" She smiled, "Let's eat."

"Okay..." I cautiously sat down and we ate.

"Shit! I forgot to call Erin..." She remembered.

"So call her now." I suggested.

"It's ten thirty, there's no way they're up." She said in a matter-of-factly tone.

"True, but call anyways, they need to get up!" I dialed Erin's number and gave Staci the phone.

"Hey you're up!" She laughed and put the call on speaker phone.

"Yeah, this kid hates me." Jersey yawned.

"No he doesn't."

"Yes he does."

"No he doesn't."

"Anyways...What's up?"

"Nothing much, just eating breakfast."

"Cool."

"Yeah, Nick cooked."

"Aw, how sweet."

"I know. Where's Joseph? I don't hear him begging to say hi."

"He's still asleep."

"Go wake his ass up!"

"No!"

"Why not?"

"'Cuz I don't want him blabbing in my ear this early."

"Its not that early-"

"For me, it is."

"Haha."

"So...How's everything?"

"Everything's fine."

"That's good."

"Yeah."

"Is Curly okay? He was really upset yesterday..."

"I'm fine, Jersey." I chimed in.

"Oh, hi Curly!" She exclaimed.

"Hi." I greeted.

"Well I'm going to let you guys go, I think I'm going to go buy ShopRite." She laughed.

"Alright, bye Erin!" Staci said.

"Bye Jersey." I added.

"Bye Staci, bye Curly!" She stated and hung up.

"See! I'm not the only pregnant lady who likes to eat." Staci whined.

"Babe, I was kidding when I said that!"

"Sure!"

"Really!"

"Whatever, so what do you want to do today?"

"Whatever you want to do!"

"Can we-"

"Make love all day? YES!"

"No, silly, that's all night!"

"Sorry for wanting to mix it up a bit!"

"Yeah, yeah." She chuckled, "I was going to say can we just hang out here for the day?"

"Yeah, that sounds like a great idea, babe." I stated and gave her a kiss, "I love you."

"I love you, too." She smiled, kissing me back.

Erin's POV

"I want cupcakes..." I said to myself, proceeding to browse the kitchen cabinets for what I needed.

Shortly after I took the cupcakes out of the oven, Joe walked downstairs.

"I smell cupcakes!" He chuckled.

"Yup." I nodded.

He laughed again and hugged me, "Good morning, beautiful."

"Good morning, Joey." I planted a kiss on his lips causing him to smile.

"Did you guys sleep good?" He asked, putting his hands on my stomach.

"Not really, he wanted to play at six thirty this morning." I frowned.

"Aw I'm sorry, babe." He crouched down a little, "Hey buddy, you gotta let your mommy sleep! You can play with her when you get here."

"He doesn't listen. I told him to stop this morning, but he wouldn't."

"Sorry."

"Don't be, it's not your fault."

"You've heard my parent's stories from when I was little, right?"

"I was an active kid, too, but I don't think that's generic."

"If it is, I apologize in advance."

"It'll just be payback for causing so much trouble for our parents."

"We're so in for it."

"I know." We both laughed, "So wanna help me frost these?"

"Sure."

"What do you want to do later?"

"Well-"

"Besides sex."

"Hey! You said I could get what I want this week, and that's what I want."

"But-"

"No buts! It's been like forever!"

"It's been like two weeks."

"Yeah, FOREVER!"

"Ugh."

"Don't 'ugh' me, I don't 'ugh' you when you ask for stuff."

"That's because I ask for reasonable stuff."

"Chocolate covered strawberries and a mango smoothies is not reasonable at midnight, Erin."

"Maybe not, but that stuff was needed to sustain YOUR child's life! What you want will only cause-"

"Fun and pleasure?"

"No...well-"

"Exactly!! Besides we are going to have no time to do it after the baby gets here, so you should just let me have my fun now."

"That's why I don't want to! It's like you only do it for the fun, not because you love me."

He slapped his forehead, "We've been over this..."

"Yeah, well your argument isn't very persuasive."

"I think it is!"

"I'll think about okay?"

"I guess since that's better than no, I can deal with that."

"Well you kind of have to, huh?"

"Dork."

"Butthead."

"Ow, that hurts." Joe joked, putting a hand over his heart and pretending to be wounded. I smiled and shoved him away playfully. "Meany."

"Nahhhh." I said and he shook his head.

"So what are we going to do with all these cupcakes?" He asked.

"I don't know...Oh by the way Kevin and Staci called earlier." I stated.

"What did they want?" He questioned.

"Kevin wanted to know if we still wanted to hang out, and Staci was just calling because I told her to yesterday...I think..."

"Oh, okay. Do you still want to hang with Kevin, Zoey, and Dani?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, I'll call him now then."

"Alright."

At noon we left for Kevin's and had lunch with them. After that Joe and Kevin talked about stuff in the living room while Dani and I played with Zoey in her playroom.

"So, how's the baby?" Dani asked.

"He's very bothersome when I'm trying to sleep, but other than that he's great." I answered.

"Aw." She laughed, "Excited yet?"

"Yeah, but I just wish we could pick a name. I'm pretty sure that we're set on Devon, but what middle name goes with that?" I questioned.

"Just use Joe's middle name then." She shrugged.

"I don't know why, but I don't wanna." I explained.

"Difficult much?" She laughed.

"That's me." I smiled.

"Can I help you, Auntie Erin?" Zoey asked.

"Sure, Zoe." I nodded.

"What about Avery? He lives down the street and his name is soooooo cool!" She giggled.

"I'll take that into consideration, thanks Zoe." I chuckled.

"Anytime." She beamed and continued to dress the baby doll she was holding.

"What's that baby's name?" I questioned.

"I din't name it yet..." She furrowed her eyebrows and tried to pull the clothing over the doll's head.

"Need help?" Dani asked.

"No tanks, Mommy." She shook her head and kept trying.

"Okay, hun, just ask me if you need any." Dani said and Zoey nodded.

"I think I'm gonna go play with Daddy. " She stated, getting up.

Joe's POV

"Dude, you have no idea of how badly I want to win!" I said, "Nothing's happened lately, but I've been thinking and I think I have the perfect way to win!"

"Really? What is it?" Kevin asked.

"I think I'm gonna do the baby's room, but secretly." I answered.

"But how does that make you win? You guys have had this contest going on forever but I still don't get the rules..." He shook his head.

"Well, as you know it started off with the prank war, then it turned into who could impress the other better, now it's really just either. You win every time, but you only win BIG if he other person agrees that you won." I explained.

"I still don't get it, but whatever. Good luck." He shrugged.

"Thanks." I stated.

"Hi Daddy." Zoey smiled and crawled onto his lap.

"Hey Zoe." He kissed her cheek, "What's up?"

"Nuffin, I just wanted to be wiff you guys." She answersd.

"Did Auntie Erin bore you?" I asked.

"No, my baby din't wanna get dressed." She pouted.

"Aw, sorry." I stated.

"It's okay." She shrugged.

Kevin and I laughed, then continued along with our conversation.

After a little while, Erin and I left and headed home where we just chilled for the day.
