Love Shows When It's There

I opened Zack's present and saw a chain with a padlock on it and a key. Engraved on the padlock were the words:
These used to hold my heart in one. I don't need them anymore. I have you.

I smiled at it slightly and put it around my neck. I wanted to know his reaction to my gift though. I didn't know if he'd like it, but I bloody well hoped he would. I loved what he gave me. My smile faltered slightly when I remembered that Zack and I were no longer together.

I suddenly got a song idea and started to jam out a tune. It was soon down and fit perfectly. I put my guitar in it's bag and zipped it up before heading over to Zack's. I hadn't moved on from him. Heck, I thought I had, but when I saw him at the park, I knew I wasn't. I actually apologized to the guy and said that I couldn't be with him. It was unfair on him 'cause he was just something there to distract me. He understood and we went our separate ways.

Honestly, I felt bad for hurting Zack. Every single time I did it, I felt crap. I don't even know why I kept doing it, but I was gonna win him back and it wasn't happening again. I wasn't gonna put him through that again. It just wasn't at all fair on him, or his heart. I don't know how he put up with me.

I reached outside of Zack's house and saw him with his back to me. He was tidying up, obviously. He wandered away from the window as I took my guitar out. I picked up a few small pebbles and softly threw them at the window. Zack opened it and saw me.
"Ross, I-"
"Just...listen, please?" I asked. He nodded. I strummed the first chord.

I rounded off and looked up. Zack was no longer there. My eyes watered, but I got the hint. I closed my eyes as a tear fell when suddenly it was being wiped away and a pair of lips touched mine.
