Hope Will Fall Tonight With Broken Wings

A Fight

After a couple of months, Valeska was ready for her first MMA fight since the accident. And of course the person she was going up against was talking shit about her. Velaska didn’t respond to any of it. She let the person talk shit; it gave Velaska power, a reason to kick their ass. Velaska was getting excited for the fight. She was extra excited because of her walk-out music. Her brother and Brian brought the band together and made a song just for her to walk-out to. It had a soft beginning, with Jimmy on the drums. This was so that they could announce her and then when it came time for her to walk out, Brian started on the guitar. And once Matt’s voice was added in, Zacky and Johnny joined in. Velaska was with them when they recorded it and she absolutely loved it. Brian was helping Velaska get ready for the fight. He made sure that her gloves were secured around her wrist and that she had her mouth guard. “Okay baby, you ready?” Brian asked

“Yeup, it’s been a long time coming.” Velaska said while Brian still held on to her mouth guard.
“Okay, this is a whoever-gets-knocked-out-first fight. So just knock her out and you win.” Brian said with a laugh
“Trust me, I plan on it. Especially with all the shit she said.” Velaska said
“That’s it; use it as fuel. Prove her wrong.” Brian said. Velaska nodded her head as Brian had already handed her, her mouth guard and he walked her to the entrance. Her music started and the announcer read her stats after she was checked and approved by the security to make sure no cheating was going on. Once the announcer was done with the stats, Velaska walked out with Brian. Her colors were lime green and purple. Her silk robe had purple on the outside and lime green inside with SANDERS in bold yet fancy sky blue lettering across the back. Her shorts were of a purple and lime green swirl design over a black background. Her sports bra matched her shorts.

Her competition was already bouncing from foot to foot in the ring. Brian helped Velaska out of her robe before she entered the ring herself. Because of the nature of the fights the ring is caged in and the cage door was shut behind Velaska. Velaska walked to the middle of the ring. She and the other girl bumped gloves and took their stances. The ref gave them the signal and they started to circle each other. As her competitor, Becky, went to go punch Velaska, Velaska swiped Becky’s leg knocking her to the ground. Becky got up and got more aggressive. She managed to land a punch to Velaska’s face. But Velaska was able to split open Becky’s lip. Whatever Becky did to Velaska, Velaska managed to do more damage and Becky was getting more and more irritated at Velaska so Becky started to fight dirty. It wasn’t illegal, it just wasn’t preferred but there really were no penalties against it. As the round was coming to last couple of minutes Becky managed to get Velaska knocked down and before Velaska could get up Becky grabbed Velaska’s arm and put her in an arm-bar. No matter how bad Velaska didn’t want to tap out, Velaska had no choice. Becky smirked and did one last tug on Velaska’s arm before letting go.

However that one tug pulled Velaska’s arm out of her socket. Velaska spit out her mouth guard into her hand on your uninjured arm and said “time out, time out.” The door to the gate opened and both Matt and Brian rushed into the ring. “Are you okay?” Matt asked
“Please pop it back in” Velaska said
“What?”
“I said pop my fuckin shoulder back into its fuckin socket. I’m taking that bitch out. DO IT NOW!” Velaska screamed. Both Matt and Brian popped Velaska’s shoulder back in and Velaska groaned in pain but didn’t scream out. “Can you finish?” the ref asked
“Yes.” Velaska said then put her mouth guard back into her mouth. Becky looked a little disappointed the Velaska was ready to continue. Velaska stood in the center of the ring and once the ring’s gate shut after Matt and Brian left Becky stood in the middle across from Velaska. Velaska could see that Becky was eyeing her tender shoulder.

Velaska knew that Becky was planning on punch her in the shoulder and win the fight. Velaska, on the other hand, was going to walk away from this fight a winner. The ref told them they could go and as Becky went to punch Velaska in the shoulder Velaska used her injured arm (as it was her good arm) and sucker punch Becky in the face. As Velaska groaned in pain and held her arm as her whole arm was in pain, Becky fell on her back and as the ref counted Becky didn’t moved. The ref announced Velaska as the winner and the ring’s gate opened. Becky’s team went to her aid as Matt and Brian rushed to Velaska’s. “LET ME GO!” Velaska screamed in pain as both Matt and Brian let go and some of the color in their face left. “Sorry, you guys were hurting me.” Velaska said.
“Sorry we didn’t mean to. Come on, let’s get you out back and your shoulder looked at.” Matt said he and Brian led the way out back. The crowd cheered for them as they walked through and Velaska smiled and held up her good arm until they disappeared out back.

The doctor looked over Velaska and addressed her shoulder. Velaska was very good at blocking her face and only ended up with some bruises, which is less than Becky who had a bunch of cuts and bruises. “Your shoulder seems to be back where it should. I recommend wearing a sling for a couple of days until it’s no longer tender. And for at least the next 12 hours, preferably 24 hours keep an ice pack on your shoulder to keep the swelling down. Other than that there isn’t much more I can do. You did a great job at blocking.” The doctor said
“Thank you doc.” Velaska said
“What about Becky? Isn’t she going to get a penalty because she held you in the arm-bar after you tapped out?” Brian asked
“No because the ref didn’t have to make her let go.” Velaska said
“So you won!” Matt said excitedly
“Well of course. Anyone who talks that much shit obviously isn’t that good. I don’t see the point in shit talking each other. My old coach told me to ‘always keep your mouth shut; let them talk shit. The proof of who anyone is made of is how they are in the ring.’ So that’s what I do. I let them talk shit then make them eat their words.” Velaska said.

“Well that’s one way to go about it.” Brian said
“Well with my experience the more someone talks shit the more they are too eager in the ring. They are just for the action; there normally isn’t a lot of strategy with their moves.” Velaska said
“That’s smart.” Matt said
“Yea my coach said it was because I learned discipline through Tae Kwon Do before actually learning how to fight MMA style.” Velaska said
“I can see that.” Brian said. “Well come on, let’s get you home and rest. You after all have work tomorrow.”
“Actually can we stop and get something to eat? I’m starving!” Velaska said
“Actually Val made us all a big dinner; remember?” Matt stated
“Right. Well let’s go then!” Velaska said and made sure she had everything before walking out to Matt’s car.

The 3 of them got in and headed to Matt’s. Everyone had plans during the day so Matt made sure that he recorded Velaska’s fight so that he could show everyone. And as they watched the video, after a deliciously cooked dinner, the guys got into it like it was a sport they all enjoyed. The girls got into it too but the guys were actually yelling at the TV as if it would change what happened. Velaska spent the entire time with a smile on her face as she watching the match again. She was happy and could clearly see that she wasn’t giving it her all while Becky seemed to have been draining herself. “That was badass!” Johnny said once the match was over.
“Thanks” Velaska laughed
“Is your shoulder going to be ok?” Jimmy asked
“Yea; I’m going to keep it in the sling and keep ice on it tomorrow.” Velaska said and continued to talk to everyone about the fight.
