The Captain of the Football Team

The Captin Of The Football Team Chapter 16

I felt Jake’s eyes on us as we talked.
Janet was right; Travis was into me and I was staring to like him.
Our waiter came shortly and took our order.
“So,” Travis said. “Do you want to hang out sometime? Just us. Maybe a dinner or something?”
I smiled. “I would like that.”
“Good,” he said.
“You know, I was hoping you and I could go to the party this Friday, together.”
“Sounds good. I’ve been meaning to ask you.”
I smiled, “two great minds think a like.”
“But an original mind is a lot better,” Jake said smiling at us.
“Are you eavesdropping on our conversation?” I asked.
“Maybe a little. I thought Travis had better game, guess not”.
“What?” Travis said a little defensively
“Ignore him. It seems hard at first but it’ll come naturally,” I said giving Janet a worried look.
“Just because I treat her with respect doesn’t me I don’t have game.”
“Let it go,” I whispered.
“How much ass do you get on a weekly base?”
We all froze and looked at Travis, all but me, I had my head in my hands.
“Why does that matter?”
“That’s what I thought; I get ten times the amount of ass than you do.”
“So you’re implying that I get none?”
“Yeah, pretty much,”
“So, ten times zero is…zero! So your game’s not that great either.”
I looked up and started to laugh.
Everyone looked at Jake, who seemed beyond pissed. “Whatever,” he muttered.
“Burn!” Liam said as our appetizers came.
The night went by fast and since Travis bruised Jake’s ego, he was a good boy for the rest of the night.
Travis and I exchanged numbers and hugged good night once we reached our dorms.
The next day when I was walking to Applebee’s for lunch, I was meeting Janet, a car pulled up next to me. The driver rolled down his window and smiled at me.
“What do you want?” I asked rolling my eyes.
“Does the pretty lady need a ride?” Jake asked
“No, I just have one more block.”
“Come on! I have candy…”
“Then I’m definitely not getting in.”
“Well then riddle me this, what do you see in Travis?”
“Everything that I don’t see in you” I said walking a little faster.
“Oh come on! You’re leaving me for him?”
“We were never together! A few make outs doesn’t count as a date.”
“It does to me.”
“Why do you care so much anyway?”
“I don’t.”
“Then drive away,” I said hurrying across the street.
I quickly hurried in Applebee’s and the hostess led me over to Janet.
“You’re late,” she said as I sat down.
“I know,” I said looking through the menu. “I ran into the world’s biggest asshole.”
She smiled. “How jealous is he?”
I rolled my eyes.
“It’s cute,” she said.
“It’s annoying,” I said as our waiter came over. We gave him our order before talking about something else other than Jake.

“What about this?” I asked spinning around in the short purple dress. I was trying to deiced what to wear to this party Jake was having. I hated how much time I was putting into it but Travis was going to be there so, might as well put some effort into it.
“I think its prefect!” Janet said.
“I like it,” Liam said winking.
“I agree with Janet,” Joel said rest his chin on her shoulder.
“Are you sure?”
They all nodded and I sighed.
“Why does he have so many parties anyway?”
“Because he’s a senior plus it’s the beginning of the year,” Liam s aid changing the channel.
“And it’s college,” Janet said fixing Joel’s hair.
“I guess so,” I said walking away.
I changed into sweats before joining everyone on the sofa. I rested my head on Liam’s shoulder. He tried to shrug me off but he was unsuccessful. I laughed at him as we watched reruns of That 70’s Show.
Around five o’clock Janet and I went to go get ready. I took a quick shower then straighten my hair. I helped Janet with her make up and she returned the favor. I wiggled into my dress and pulled on silver heels.
The boys were already in the living room when we came out. We left together and headed to Jake’s dorm.
