If We Ever Meet Again

Chapter 7- An Unexpected Visit (Jasper's POV)

I felt really restless tonight. Emmett wanted to wrestle with me but I was too restless to join him. Edward and Bella was talking to Carlisle and Esme on the sofa. Nessie was playing dress-up with Rose. I sighed. If Alice was still alive, she would probably play with them. I still miss her.

" Jasper?" Edward suddenly called. " Could you come here for a sec?" I nodded and walked over to the sofa to join them.

" Jasper, we were talking about the girl you were interested in," Bella began.

" You mean, Anna?" I asked. Carlisle nodded.

" We wondering whether you were really interested in her, as a lover..not as food," Carlisle explained. I exhaled sharply. I guess I didn't prepare myself for this.

" Carlisle, I can assure you that I didn't chose her because I thought she would taste good," I pointed out. They all flinched." Edward, you of all people should know that. Why don't you rummage my head to find out the truth?" I muttered. Nessie giggled.

Edward smirked. " Well, I did but you weren't thinking about her. You kept your head full with nonsense," he chuckled. I laughed. Yeah, I had tried to block him from rummaging my head. I glanced at the clock and saw that it was nearly midnight.

" Um, shouldn't Nessie be in bed?" I asked Bella. Bella gasped and turned to tell her daughter off. I heard Nessie giggled again and ran for her life as Bella chased her to bed. I laughed again. Nessie's a handful when it comes to bedtime.

" How is it going on with Jacob?" I asked Edward. He grimaced.

" He was really upset when Bella didn't allow him to visit Nessie again. We bumped into each other when we were on our way here. He begged Bella to let him see Nessie. Well, you know how Bella and Alice were. She was still angry with his pack," he explained. I stared off into space. " He's really upset about Alice's death. He said he was already getting fond of her."

So, Jacob was sorry for Alice's death? My hands shook with anger at the thought of it. I quickly forced myself to gain control, just in case Esme and Carlisle noticed.

" Uh, I think I may want to go hunting," I decided, getting up from the sofa. " You up for it, Edward? Emmett?" I asked them.

" Sure," Emmett called. " I just need to clean this up first." Esme sighed in exasperation. Clearly, Emmett was doing one of his whacky experiments.

" Emmett!" she cried. He laughed.

" On to it, Esme. Don't worry. Won't leave even a single speck of it." With that, he flew to his bedroom to drop it all off before he joined Edward and I on the porch. " Let's hunt at the mountains. Last one there's a rotten sack of potato!" he cried, springing lightly and disappeared into the night.

" Not a chance, Emmett," I heard Edward muttered, grinning. I grinned back and we both raced each other to the mountains. When we arrived at the mountain, Emmett was sitting on a huge boulder, smirking as we got nearer.

" Looks like Jasper's the rotten sack of potato," he laughed. I lunged at him playfully but he managed to duck. " Let's split up. I want to find grizzlies," he said. Edward and I just agreed.

We split up: Emmett off to find his best friend, the grizzlies while Edward went to find his favourite mountain lion. I just wandered around in the woods, looking for anything that passed by.

After an hour or two, I grew bored and went to join the others. Edward looks well-fed now, though he seemed bored. Emmett is still wrestling with the grizzlies. I went over to where Edward was sitting and plonked myself next to him.

" Emmett still at it?" I asked Edward. He sighed.

" It's his third one and he's still not satisfied," he grumbled. " Emmett, hurry up will you?" he called out to Emmett. He grinned back at us and finished the his grizzly quickly. After a few minutes, he loped to us and plonked himself next to me.

" That's one of the toughes I have met," he said happily. I chuckled at his remark. We chatted around for a while before Edward said he wants to go home. We got up and raced each other back.

When we were passing a few houses on the way home, I caught the scent that had appealed to me. Anna's scent. I stopped to a halt, causing Emmett and Edward to hit me. We all sprawled on the forest floor, laughing.

" You guys mind if I make a quick stop at someone's place? You can go back to the house if you don't want to wait," I said to them. Emmett's eyes widened and a grin spread across his childish face. Edward nodded and I dashed across the streets towards Anna's house. I circled the house to find a suitable place to jump in and saw a window. I would bet that the window leads to Anna's room.

I leapt up to the window and opened it quietly, making sure she doesn't wake up. As soon as I was in her room, I watched her sleeping face closely, afraid that she was just pretending to be asleep. When I was sure she was sound asleep, I closed the window. I swear I thought I heard Edward and Emmett laughing their butts off in the bushes. Dang it, they followed me, I thought.

When the window was securedly closed, I turned around to examine her room. She's a bit of a messy person. I smiled to myself when I saw that she was curled under her covers. Probably she's cold. I thought of getting her a spare blanket when she mumbled something unintelligible. I froze, afraid that she noticed me in her room. But then, her soft breathing were heard, evenly.

I crept downstairs through her half-opened door and went to look for spare blankets. When I found what I was looking for, I crept back into her room but was surprised to see that her bed was empty. Oh, no, I thought, please don't say she's awake. I sighed in exasperation, wondering what to say to her when she asks me. That's when I heard her gasped from behind me.

" Jasper?" with that, I heard her click the lights' switch. I now find myself standing in front of her, with her staring at me with a shocked expression. " What are you doing here?" she hissed, closing I door softly.

I felt uncertain. Clearly, she wasn't used to finding a stranger in her room in the middle of the night. " I..uh.." I sighed in exasperation, again. " Anna, aren't you supposed to be sleeping?" I suddenly asked, feeling slightly annoyed.

She smirked at me. " I couldn't sleep. aren't you supposed to be at home, sleeping?" she asked me back. " How'd you get inside?" Busted, I thought.

" I climbed in through your window," I replied, sitting at the end of her bed. " Did I disturb your sleep?"

" No," she replied, leaning against the wall. " Actually, you were," she said, walking towards her table. " I was dreaming about you actually. Well, more of a nightmare," she added, ruefully.

" Nightmare? You don't seem to be the kind to have nightmares," I chuckled, grinning. I toyed with the blankets that was still in my hands.

" What's that?" she asked, curiously.

" Blankets. I saw you were shivering like mad so I thought you were cold, so I went downstairs to look for a spare blanket. I suppose you were shivering because you were frightened?"

" Probably," she replied. There was a long pause. " You're a vampire," she said suddenly. I felt my grin vanish and my jaws hardened when I heard her statement.

" What are you talking about?" I asked, surprised to hear the ice behind my words.

" The nightmare. I was nightmaring about you. I was standing in front of a big, white, beautiful old house. Then, you showed up. At first you looked normal. Then, you tensed to spring at me. Fangs bared. Crouching. Like a predator on it's prey," she explained. I couldn't move. My body tensed to sprang. " You can tell me, you know. I won't tell anyone," she promised. I knew she meant it but I didn't want the same fate as Bella for her.

I stared at her hard. Then, I shifted my face to form a light smile, so as to not frightened her. " You're quicker than Bella to guess what I am. Considering the fact that we just met today. Well, yesterday actually. Still, you're quick," I muttered. Please don't let her ask about Bella, I thought.

" So, it's true?"

" Even if it is, I wouldn't tell you. It would be life-risking."

" Jasper, you can confide in me. I won't tell. I'm a great Secret Keeper!"

" Quiet it down. You don't want to wake up Albert, do you?"

" I'll quiet it down when you said that what I just said was true!"

I stared again into her bright-green eyes. Tensed, but I still had the time to be awed by the wonder behind her eyes. Then, I sighed. " You're not going to give up, are you?" I asked. She shook her head. I chuckled darkly. " Yeah, I guess it's true," I said, getting up. " What you guessed is quite true. I'll have to kill you now," I joked. I knew that she knew I was joking but still, she snarled at my joke. I laughed a bit. " Sorry. That wasn't nice."

" You bet," she growled. Wrong move, I thought, but I could feel that she was scared at my joke. " Do you really have to?"

" Nope," I replied casually. " Oops," I said, glancing at her clock. It was nearing dawn. " I have to go. Catch you at school later," I muttered as I ease myself through her window. " Bye, Anna."

" Bye..," was all she could say. I landed on the ground with a thud and as fast as I could, raced back to the house, with Edward and Emmett trailing behind me. We arrived at the house after about five minutes. When I wanted to reach for the knob, Edward and Emmett pulled me back.

" Are you nuts?" Emmett nearly shouted. " She knows what we are! Did you tell her?"

" No, I swear I didn't, Emmett," I replied calmly. " She said she had a nightmare about me. About us. It's probably her conscience telling her to back out of our lives," I explained.

" Jazz, we don't need anyone from the outside anymore," Edward said, quietly. I sighed in exasperation.

" I know!" I snarled, storming into the house, startling Carlisle and Esme, who was watching the news. I felt frustrated with myself. Why couldn't I control myself when I'm with her? Am I turning into Edward??
