Katastrophic Breakdown

Matchbox Records and debut album in the works

"Drew, hun?" a sweet mother like voice asked. I smiled and stirred as the voice got louder "DREW! WAKE UP DAMMIT!" the voice yelled. I shot up and hit my head on Reese's. "Ow! Why'd you wake me up?"
Reese rubbed his head as he handed me the phone. "It's Matchbox Records. They wanna set up a date."
I grabbed the phone and as Reese started walking away I asked him another question. "Did you call me hun trying to wake me up?"

Reese turned around and gave me a confused look. "No, I'd never do that. Annabeth did but you pushed her away" I blinked and shrugged as I put the phone up to my ear. "Hello?" I asked as a very tired sounding Melody Stevens answered back. "Drew?! Oh thank god! I finally get to talk to you to set this up. Everyone who answers the phone either tells me your not there or acts like they don't know you." I smiled as I got off the bed. "Yea, they like to play stupid sometimes. Whats up?"
"We need to set up a date to talk about the contract. It's been a month since we first met. But we haven't come to agreements for a contract." I open my mouth to tell her that we can't do a contract because of the bar contract but Melody steps in "Don't think I don't know when your bar contract ends. You only signed that for a month. Bud wants you guys to sign with us anyway. He doesn't want you guys to waste your talent." I scoffed "We aren't as good as everyone keeps telling us" I told her. Reese walks back into my room and taps his watch "Time for the last show at the bar." he mouthed and walked back down the stairs. "Alright Melody. I have to get my equipment for our last show at the bar. Meet us there and we'll sign tonight."
There was a gasp and then a high pitched squeal "Really?! Thats Fantastic. I'll be there." she said and then nothing but the call ended noise. "She hung up in excitement..." I whispered to myself as i left the phone on the bed and walked down stairs where everyone was getting dressed up in their usual street clothes and taking care of their instruments. "Alright, load everything up. Lets go" I heard as Drake came in the living room from the backyard with Misty who looked me in the eye. I smiled knowingly at her and she looked away, her face turning red.

"Aye Sir!" Scott said saluting and throwing his drum sticks in the back of the van and sitting down in the front. "Done!" he declared with a raise of his hand and laughing. I shook my head and placed everyone's amps in the back, closed the hatch and got in the van next to Drake and Reese. I sighed and spoke up when everyone was in the van. "So Melody is going to be there tonight with our contract." There were gasps and "yays" of excitement. I looked around as Drake sighed with relief and Reese smiled ear to ear. "I thought you guys didn't want to?" Drake smiled and spoke "We never said that. We just weren't sure wether you wanted this or not." I sighed as i stared straight ahead in thought as the others went on to talk about the contract or tonights set list.

*Time Skip*
I step up into the lights of the stage and infront of the microphone with my guitar as we get ready to play. "This will be our last concert here in Bud's bar." I announce suddenly getting everyone's attention. All the faces in the audience seemed to be sad but I continue. "It'll be our last concert for a while until we get our new debut album out with Matchbox Records. Thats right people! Katastrophic Breakdown will have a record deal after tonight!" I step back from the mic as the fans, that have nearly trippled in the last month. As the cheering quiets down we start the set. Drake and Reese start playing the guitar parts while I put my guitar on its stand and walk up to the mic getting ready to sing.

"Well this ain't no sideshow
This is the great unknown
This is the poison we take
Yeah

Outside the velvet rope
Standing there all alone
Are the grotesque and ashamed
Yeah

Well if you think real beauty's on the outside
Well that's a far cry
From the truth

Maybe all the information you received
Well you should not believe
There's no proof

*Save yourself from all the lies of the beautiful people
It's time to run from the lies of the beautiful people*

I feel so traumatized
Doped up and televised
Life can be cruel and insane
Yeah

But we've got these ugly scars
On our infected hearts
Maybe it's time for a change
Yeah

And if you think real beauty's on the outside
Well that's a far cry
From the truth

Maybe all the information you received
Well you should not believe
There's no proof

*Save yourself from all the lies of the beautiful people
It's time to run from the lies of the beautiful people*

Drake steps past his mic onto the edge of the stage and plays the chords to the solo. I smile as I see Reese turn up his guitar so they can keep the timing right. I step back up to the mic and sing the chorus by myself.

Save yourself from all the lies of the beautiful people
Just run and hide from the lies of the beautiful

*Save yourself from all the lies of the beautiful people
It's time to run from the lies of the beautiful people*"

We move from the end of the song into the next one and I pick up my guitar and put it on while I sing

"Hollywood whore,
Passed out on the floor,
I'm sorry but the party's over.

Cocaine nose,
And trendy clothes,
Gotta send her to rehab.
She found out she's got no soul,
But it really doesn't bother her.
White trash queen,
American dream-
Oh, what a role model.
Throwing a fit,
Making a scene,
Like no tomorrow.

*Hollywood whore,
Passed out on the floor,*
Can't take it no more,
I'm sorry but the *party's over.*
The talk of the town,
Is she's going down.
I'm sorry but the *party's over* NOW.!

Awake by noon, drunk by 4.
Sucked up in the show biz.
You're so lame,
You're such a bore,
I wanna kick your teeth in.
Plastic smile,
To match your style-
We can tell you got a face lift.
You're so vain, oh so vile,
You're a number one hit.

*Hollywood whore,
Passed out on the floor,*
Can't take it no more,
I'm sorry but the *party's over.*
The talk of the town,
Is she's going down,
I'm sorry but the *party's over.*

Drake steps up and sings in the mic with me for the next words

*The cameras are gone,
And nobody screams.
She couldn't survive her 15 minutes of fame.
Her friends are all gone,
She's going insane.
She'll never survive without the money and fame.
It's all going down the drain.*

Hollywood whore,
Passed out on the floor,
I'm sorry but the party's over.
The talk of the town,
Is she's going down.
*I'm sorry but the party's over*

*Hollywood whore,
Passed out on the floor,*
I'm sorry but the *party's over*.
The talk of the town,
Is she's going down,
I'm sorry but the *party's over.*

Wake up!!!!!
The party's over

Wake up!!!!!
The party's over

Wake up!!!!!
The party's over

Wake up!!!!!
The party's over

NOW!

Hahaha

Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya, honney!
Hahaha... "

I put down my guitar and announce the next song we're playing
Drake plays one chord and I sing a part of the chorus.

"Change my attempt good intentions
(Everyone starts playing after the first five words.)

Crouched over
You were not there
Living in fear
But signs were not really that scarce
Obvious tears
But I will not
Hide you through this
I want you to help
And please see
The bleeding heart perched on my shirt

Die, withdraw
Hide in cold sweat
Quivering lips
Ignore remorse
Naming a kid, living wasteland
This time you've tried
All that you can turning you red

Change my attempt good intentions
Should I, could I
Here we are with your obsession
Should I, could I

Crowned hopeless
The article read living wasteland
This time you've tried
All that you can turning you red
but I will not
Hide you through this
I want you to help

Change my attempt good intentions
Should I, could I

Here we are with your obsession
Should I, could I

Heave the silver hollow sliver
Piercing through another victim
Turn and tremble be judgmental
Ignorant to all the symbols
Blind the face with beauty paste
Eventually you'll one day know

Change my attempt good intentions
Limbs tied, skin tight
Self inflicted his perdition

Should I, could I
Change my attempt good intentions
Should I, could I
Should I, could I"
I smile as everyone continues cheering and yelling for more. I look back and tell everyon what the next song is. We played so many that night that it may have been the best performance we had as amateurs.

*Time Skip*
I jump down the stairs onto the bars main floor and wipe the sweat off my forehead and take a drink of my bottled water. I look over and see Melody getting our contract together. I walk over and sit down. "So..." "This is it Mr. Parsons. This is Katastrophic Breakdown's contract with Matchbox Records." I smiled as the rest of the band showed up. "Where do we sign?" Drake asked as he clicked his pen. I laughed as Melody showed him where to sign. After him was Reese, Annabeth, Scott and then me. I put the pen down and shook hands with Melody. "Gentlemen..and lady... welcome to Matchbox Records and the Broken Records family."
