Katastrophic Breakdown

Graduation

I picked up my gown and cap with the tassle connected to it and threw it into the back of my the band van along with our equipment and the other's gowns and caps. I shut sliding door and walked back into the house and picked up the keys. "Alright guys. Lets go guys. We gotta be there to set up before my dad gets there or he'll tell them how he wants it and not how we want it." I yelled through out the house and heard running footsteps coming towards the door. I jumped outside and jumped into the drivers seat and started the van. I heard the doors open and people pile in.

"Everyone in?" I asked as I stretched my seatbelt across me and buckled it. "Everyone's in Drew, lets go." I heard from the back. I put the van into drive and drove towards the school ready to walk across the stage in that gown and then perform infront of 15,000 people.

*Time Skip*
I was sitting down with everyone with the last names that start with R. When the line of people sitting infront of me and Scott, I looked over and saw the color of Scott's face. I smiled and tried hard not to laugh. As the last name of the group infront of us was called, our line was already headed up to the stage. I looked down making sure not to trip over my gown and soon Scott and I were up to the front of the line.
"Drew Riggs and Scott Riggs." the lady who announced the name announced clearly and there were only cheers for Scott. We both walked up to Principal Pung who gave us our diploma's and shook our hands. We both walked back stage where Annabeth and Drake and Reese were already set up. We both took our Gowns and caps off and moved to our instruments.

Once all the names were called Principal Pung walked up to the microphone that the lady announcing the names had and spoke into it. "And now for the finale of graduation. Since we couldn't get Suicidal Silence to play since they're back on tour for Mayhem Fest. We got the next best thing. Recently signed to Matchbox Records and writing for their debut album: KATASTROPHIC BREAKDOWN!!!"
The curtains covering us pulled back and Reese and Drake started playing their guitars while I speak into the mic.
"Whats up Mt. Pleasant! We're here to rock the socks off of every single one of you." I turned back around to turn my amp on and I see Scott do a face palm. I smile and turn back around and move back up to the mic and start singing.

"As a young boy chasing Dragons
with your wooden sword so mighty,
You’re St. George or you’re David and you always
killed the beast
Times change very quickly
And you had to grow up early
A house in smoking ruins and the bodies at your feet

You’ll die as you lived
In a flash of the blade
*In corner forgotten away*
You lived for the touch
For the feel of the steel
*One man, in his Honor.*

The smell of resined leather
The sticky iron mask
As you cut and thrust and parried at the
fencing master’s call
He taught you all he ever knew
To fear no mortal man
And now you’ll reach your vengeance in the
Screams of evil men.

You’ll die as you lived
In a flash of the blade
*In corner forgotten away*
You lived for the touch
For the feel of the steel
*One man, in his Honor.*

Reese, and Drake started finger tapping the solo while I played the rhythm of the song and halfway through the solo, we switched where Me and Drake started playing the solo with dual guitars and Reese played the rhythm of the song. Drake and I start moving towards each other and finally meet each other back to back and play the rest of the solo.

You’ll die as you lived
In a flash of the blade
*In corner forgotten away*
You lived for the touch
For the feel of the steel
*One man, in his Honor.*

We stopped the song and there were quite a few shouts and claps. I smiled and told Reese to go play the organ. As he started playing I moved Reese's Mic next to Scott so he could sing with me and Drake. The song started off with the organ playing and when people started to get restless, not sure of what was going on, Drake and I started playing the Organ part on guitars. Finally when the audience leasts expect it I come through with a scream and screeching guitars. Finally when we start singing, Scott whispers into his mic:

(Shh, be quiet, you might piss somebody off)
Like me motherfucker you've been at it for too long
While you feed off all those insecurities, you stand in front of me and bite the hand that feeds

Self righteousness is wearing thin <lies inside your head, your best friend>
Heart bleeds but not for fellow man <broken glass, your fake reflection>

(Ive had enough, its time for something real
Don't respect the words your speaking
Gone too far
Acclaim!)

So, how does it feel to know that someones kid in the heart of America has blood on their hands fighting to defend your rights so you can maintain the lifestyle that insults his family's existence
Well where I'm from we have a special salute waved high in the air towards all those pompous assholes who spend their days pointing fingers

*Fuck you!*

(Shh, be quiet, you might piss somebody off)
Like the heartbeat of this country when antagonized too long
Ill be damned if you count me in as part of your generous hypocrisy; collecting enemies

Tabloid gossip queen, worthless man <theres no need for us to bury you>
Selfish agenda, once again <right this way, you dug your own grave>

(I've had enough, its time for something real
Don't respect the words your speaking
Gone too far
Acclaim!)

All the way from the east to the west we got this high society looking down on their very foundation
Constantly reminding us that our actions are the cause of all their problems
Pointing their fingers in every direction
Blaming their own nation for who wins elections
They never contributed a fucking thing to the country they love to criticize

Excuse the obscene
Ignore the untrue
Depictions we see
Try and get through
Admitting mistakes can hurt
I'm not the last, but I sure aint the first
[HEY!,HEY!,HEY!,HEY!HEY!HEY!HEY!HEY!HEY!]

(Shh, be quiet, you might piss somebody off)
Reese grabs his guitar up and starts playing the rhythm again as Me and Drake play dual guitars for the solo. I jump up on one of the big speakers and play almost falling into the small mosh pit going on infront of the stage. It was only then did I realize, all the students had moved the chairs they were sitting in back against the wall and moved up to the front of the stage to create a mosh pit. I smiled as I looked back at Drake who nodded his approval of what we have created. When we finish the solo I move back toward the mic and start singing again.

Self righteousness is wearing thin <lies inside your head, your best friend>
Heart bleeds but not for fellow man <broken glass, your fake reflection>

(Ive had enough, its time for something real
Don't respect the words your speaking
Gone too far
Acclaim!)

I finish the song with another scream I made at the beginning of the song.

After a short break with the lights off, they come back on with part of the string section from the school band up on stage. I walk up to the mic and speak into it. "This will be our last song. This song and the last one we just sang will be on the debut album..wether the label wants them to be or not." I smiled as the mosh pit grew bigger as people tried to be part of the first mosh pit ever for Katastrophic Breakdown. I counted for the strings and they started playing with my conducting and after a couple bars of music, Scott softly rolled his cymbals and we started playing as I moved up to the mic and sang

"*Like walking into a dream, so unlike what you've seen.
So unsure but it seems, 'cause we've been waiting for you.
Fallen into this place, just giving you a small taste.
Of your afterlife here so stay, you'll be back here soon anyway.*

I see a distant light, but girl this can't be right.
Such a surreal place to see so how did this come to be,
Arrived too early.

*And when I think of all the places I just don't belong,
I've come to grips with life and realize this is going too far.*

I don't belong here, we gotta move on dear, escape from this afterlife.
'Cause this time I'm right to move on and on, far away from here.

*A place of hope and no pain, perfect skies with no rain.
Can leave this place but refrain, 'cause we've been waiting for you.
Fallen into this place, just giving you a small taste.
Of your afterlife here so stay, you'll be back here soon anyway.*

This peace on earth's not right <with my back against the wall>.
No pain or sign of time {I'm much too young to fall}.
So out of place don't wanna stay, I feel wrong and that's my sign.
I've made up my mind.

Give me your hand but realize I just wanna say goodbye.
Please understand I have to leave and carry on my own life.

I don't belong here, I gotta move on dear escape from this afterlife.
'Cause this time I'm right to move on and on, far away from here.
Got nothing against you and surely I'll miss you.
This place full of peace and light, and I'd hoped you might,
Take me back inside, when the time is right.

Loved ones back home all crying 'cause they're already missing me.
I pray by the grace of God that there's somebody listening.
Give me a chance to be that person I wanna be.
(I am unbroken, I'm choking on this ecstasy.)
Oh Lord I'll try so hard but you gotta let go of me
(Unbreak me, unchain me, I need another chance to live.)

After the show, people talk about this song all the time..and at this first show, fans and band members told me I sounded possesed while playing the solo. Fuse T.V. called it the Most blistering solo of the year. I just remember playing whatever came to my head and fingers and I played the notes I saw.

(Screaming and manical laughter)

I don't belong here, I gotta move on dear escape from this afterlife.
'Cause this time I'm right to move on and on, far away from here.
Got nothing against you and surely I'll miss you.
This place full of peace and light, and I'd hoped you might,
Take me back inside when the time is right!
I held the note of the last word as long as I could as the lights slowly faded from showing the whole band to only showing me to me being faded out into blackness. After I let the note go the entire gym erupted into shouts and claps and encores. Students couldn't get enough and neither could their family members. We quickly got everything off stage and packed it in the van behind the school. I walked outside in my gown and cap with my guitar and spot my dad and Bullet by the van with a bunch of my classmates trying to get autographs and pictures. I smiled and was just about to move around them when one of the people trying to get an autograph spots me.

"Oh My GOD! IT'S DREW!!!" I hear from the random kid in the middle as everyone turns to look at me. I smile as everyone runs over to me asking for my autograph and for pictures. I smiled my best for the cameras and did my best signatures on everyone's yearbooks or whatever they had with them. After everyone disperssed and I took pictures with my band in our grad gowns. We also got pictures with my dad's band.
"Well how was it to finally play in front of such a big room of people?" Padge asked me as he helped put Scotts drum set in the van. I smiled and laughed.
" It was fucking awesome. I can't wait to put out our debut album so we can go on tour! AND you guys are coming with us. After all i'm putting each one of you on at least one song on our debut album." I said. Padge just smiled and nodded as my dad came over. I turned around and hugged him.
"Thanks dad, for everything"
He smiled and hugged me back
"You're welcome Drew. Now you need to head home real quick and pack everything. Each and every one of you little ones. You're all moving out now that your graduated and officially a band."
Dad held up a couple of keys with numbers on them and handed them out to us. "What are these?" I asked slightly annoyed of what the answer might be.
"Apartment keys Drew. We made a contract with the best place for an up and coming band to live where they can write and practice and they won't have neighbors who will complain."
I sighed and hugged my dad again. "Thanks again. But you seriously didnt' have to do this."

My dad shrugged and held me out at arms length. " I did have to do this cuz its what your mother would have done if she were here." I stepped back and smiled, nodding at his comment. "Yea" I said. "It would be what she wanted."
