Burn It to the Ground

If I Go Crazy Then Will You Still Call Me Superman?

Kassia's POV

I couldn't believe I drilled it in Maura's head, and convinced her to give these guys a chance. When our sister-like minds thought about using the vents in our room to sneak into their room, it turned out to be a big success, no matter how abnormal it may have been. We had come to agreement that we need to work with them on this case.

“Valentine. As in Andrew Valentine?” Mr. Sexy questioned, his eyes shot open as if he was surprised. Maura had recently informed the boys with our full names. I didn't know whether to believe he knew our father or he was just making small talk again. He really needs to come up with better pick-up lines.

I turned to look at Maura, exchanging the same puzzled expressions on our faces. “Uh, yeah, Our dad...” I replied, watching him dart across the room and pushing his brother into the bathroom. The faucet was running water and a loud thud followed shortly after. Men, what idiots.

"Did I say something wrong?" I asked Maura, as we both stared at the door narrowing our eyes, confused.

She shrugged her shoulders. "Beats me- though isn't it kind of odd that the older one reacted eagerly once you mention he's our dad? Like he's a celebrity or something-"

I laughed at that thought. Our dad being a celebrity? Maura, was always the loyal one to our father, like a good daughter should. Me on the other hand, I was never on good terms with him. We always argued and barely got along. It's not that we were different. Hell, we were different from any other family, but it was generally father like daughter. Maura got more of the attention; so I would sneak out in the middle of the night because of a boy or because of a clue to one of our hunts. Dad constantly hounded me that it was too dangerous. He protected me far too much and I got sick of it one day and told him off. It wasn't the best choice, but I was in high school and hardly kept in touch after Maura and I went on hunts by ourselves. A part of me somewhat regretted that.

Opening my mouth to say something, I shut it quickly as the shorter and more attractive one raced back out the door with his brother not too far behind. He had this huge grin across his face, which was genuinely appealing and sort of uncanny. The same kind of grin when a man got something he wanted- That just leaves me with bad images- eww with his brother. I shook the non-sense out of me and returned my gaze upon the two men.

"Dean Winchester and my brother Sam," he greeted with hand shake to Maura, who was half-skeptical whether to take a hold of his hand, but nodded and shook his hand. Sam nodded from the door frame of the bathroom, leaning against it casually.

Her look was hazy and she seemed as if she was studying him hard. Then her gaze moved to Sam. "Winchester?" She mumbled with a puzzled look. "Why does that name sound familiar?" The name didn't ring a bell to me, but obviously Maura knew something though she couldn't put her tongue on it.

"Our dad, John Winchester used to be hunting partners with your dad." Dean proceeded, noticing him holding up what appeared to be a leather, three-ringed journal of some kind.

"Why do you seem so completely enthralled about this?" Maura asked briefly as Sam chuckled, most likely wondering the same thing. I shoved my hands in my pockets, uncomfortably as the subject of Dad coming into the picture.

His smile faded and tried to act serious. "Nevermind, it's just that one of the great hunters- his daughters are in the same room as us seems so unreal. I don't remember a lot about Andy but he's a pretty cool dude."

I veered my eyes down to the floor and sighed, trying to avoid the conversation. Who ever thought that I would've had a hard time on such a subject? Maura nodded with a slight smile. "Yeah he is," her head turned towards me momentarily and back at the boys. I folded my arms over my chest and paced casually around the room, listening into their conversation. "I can roughly picture John; Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome as I used to call him," Maura smiled, drumming her fingers against the cheap leather arm of the chair she was sitting in.

The room fell silent for a moment as I glanced up at saw I was being watched intently, still pacing the room like a hound dog. "Are you alright?" Dean asked puzzled, raising an eyebrow. Any other time I most likely would've perked up with a toothy grin, but I felt nervous and overly uncomfortable. "I need air," I declared, before darting out the door not caring if Maura was calling out for me.

Dean's POV

Maura sighed and stared at the floor. "I knew this would happen," she muttered quietly. "All because of Dad..."

"What do you mean?" Sam and I questioned at the same time, which always left me with that awkward brother moment.

Maura frowned. "Dad and her never got along. Their past is filled with too many bitter memories."

"Let me talk to her," I offered to Maura directing my attention to the slammed door, as my ears were still replaying the same bang over and over again.

"Dean- just give her her space," Sam stated, standing straight up from outside the bathroom door.

I frowned and turned towards Maura. She looked up at Sam and then me. "I don't know if you're fit to speak to a vulnerable, fragile girl like Kassia- she's a badass, but very emotional."

"She has a point, Dean," Sam replied, though it seemed like he was only agreeing with her because he was attracted to her. Even after Jess, that doesn't mean his raging hormones had died too.

"Shut up," I retorted, walking over to the door. I stopped and stared out the window, watching Kassia's red hair dancing with the wind briskly. Her sorrowful eyes wandering across the parking lot, aimlessly. "At least let me try-"

Maura looked at me suspiciously, but nodded. That was enough for me to open the door and shut it swiftly. I turned to my right and saw Kassia, staring at me wildly and tears welling up in her eyes. She jerked her head away so I couldn't see her in distress. "Kassia, I'm sorry. I didn't know you and your father-"

"Aren't on speaking terms?" she shot back venomously, glancing at me over her shoulder. "Yeah, I know. I don't really think much of my dad as much as Maura. She respects the man with great loyalty, just like a good daughter should, you know? Me, I disobeyed him numerous times- going out on hunts by myself in the middle of the night or sneaking around with friends at a restricted place; it was fun while it lasted, but I'm not sure if it was worth losing my dad's respect.

I was never the best with emotional woman, but like I said I'd give it a shot- even if it meant getting my head blown off when she'd shoot me for most likely making an asshole comment. I stood there for a second just staring at her distant eyes. "Er- I sort of know what you're talking about. I mean not in my perspective, but my brother's. Him and Dad were two diverse people with different thoughts on life. Sam wanted to go to school and actually be a normal kid, but obviously coming from a family with our kind of reputation, it wasn't easy. My dad, he wanted Sam and I to grow up saving people, hunting things; one day when Sam was going off to college, him and the old man got in an argument. Haven't spoken a word to each other since."

Kassia rotated her body, facing me bleakly. "Me and your brother have more in common than I thought."

I nodded and gazed back at her piercing blue eyes. I smiled at her, but I didn't get one in return. The door swung open to mine and Sam's room, and Maura came rushing out and Sam was close behind. "Hey, we better catch some zzz's before tomorrow," she hinted to her sister, as she nodded gloomily. Maura grasped onto her arm right after Kassia said, "See ya, Deano," now briefly smiling seductively. I snickered and realized Sam was staring at me, watching her leave with her sister to their room. "What?" I snapped back.

"Did you actually us your upstairs brain with this one?" he replied, rolling his eyes in the process.

"That's for me to know, and you to find out. Time to catch zzz's," I answered him, entering back into the room. Sam smirked and closed the door behind him.
