Operation Warren
Prologue
April 16th 2023
The six o' clock news started, all over America millions of people sat down in front of their televisions. Though it was a day like any other before – families had gone about their business, men and women had gone to work, children went to school and very little out of the ordinary happened- everyone waited anxiously as the tune played, wondering what the news would be today. The same tune played – normally ignored by most to all it had become an irritation over the past few weeks - taking far too long to run its course. Finally it finished, the anchor-man and woman appeared onscreen, and obligatorily they shuffled the papers in their hands and smiled falsely at the desperate people they could not see.
"Good evening," the man said in the level monotonous tone of a newsreader, "Now, as we all know, over the past few weeks’ tension between Europe and Russia has grown steadily worse. And today, unfortunately it reached breaking point."
People across the country gasped, screamed, and some fainted. Family members turned to each other, telling the ones who had gasped to shush. The anchors continued unaware of the many disturbances, "Today, at one twenty-seven pm, central time, Russia fired the first nuclear rocket at Europe. At one thirty-five, it hit down in Paris, France. Large parts of the city were wiped out on impact, hundreds of thousands of people are presumed dead. So far there is no other information as to the extent of the damage caused. It is however known, that at two pm central time, Europe retaliated with rockets of their own."
At this point all over the country, millions turned those next to them, ghostly pale with a look of sheer terror on their faces.
And that was that. The beginning of the end.

Hello. Please dont hate me. I'm sorry I know it's been like a year since I did anything with this story. ><And then when I do update it's just me reposting the same few chapters. Well here's the deal. I'm reworking the chapters I've posted already and then I will be posting new ones. There will also be a companion to this story posted some time in the not too distant future.
