One Way or Another

I'm starting to fall in love, it's getting too much

Frank’s POV

I couldn’t sleep that night. The stormed hadn’t passed. It was still snowing, even more then before. I was really worried about those two. I couldn’t stop thinking about all that’s happened between Nicole and I, and how it seemed to end up affecting my date last night. It couldn’t be that obvious. I couldn’t actually have feelings for her. Or could I?

I kept pacing back and forth in the living room, occasionally taking a seat on the couch to rest. I wasn’t gonna be able to sleep until I knew they were back home safely.
I couldn’t help but feel like I betrayed my best friend. It wasn’t something I did intentionally. It just happened, she was to blame as well. I was now dueling on whether to be completely honest with him, just like we had agreed to and how he’s been with me, or for everyone’s own good to just not say a word about it. I was pretty much sure that she would never mention it. Something like that could put at risk they’re engagement. I wouldn’t like to be the other guy in this scenario. Though, apparently she had moved on now. I only wish I could do the same.

********************

I was awoken by the front door closing loudly, something probably caused by the strong wind outside. I rubbed my eyes, now being able to see more clearly and sat up on the couch.

“Did we wake you up?” Nicole’s sweet voice echoed in the darkness of the night.

“Yeah, thanks.” I whispered, not even a trace of sarcasm in my voice. It was good to know they were able to make it.

“Well, we’re heading to bed. We’re really tired. That was definitely not the way I had planned on checking out the wedding venues” Gee’s soft chuckle seemed to lighten up the room.

“You know what? I think I’m gonna head back to my place. I mean, you’re here now and it’ll just be a few more weeks before…..and the wedding, I’m just in the way of it all. Thanks, though for baring with me for all these months. Night.” I lazily got up from the couch, put my coat on and went to open the door.

“Dude, are you serious? You can’t go out like this now. It’s still cold and windy out. What bus are you planning on catching at this hour of the night?”

Yeah, it made sense.

“Fine, I’ll stay. But just for tonight. Tomorrow, I’m packing my things again and leaving.”

“Yeah sure, whatever you want. Night, Frank” he surprised me in an embrace and I felt worst somehow. How could I have done that to my best friend. I was definitely not gonna tell him about it. Just pretend it hadn’t happened. For his own good.
